Confessedly, I totally did think that chain was The Bracelet. But also, the implications if he's not wearing it and instead has gotten a replacement? Something that fits the same way but in metal and chain rather than thread and twine???? Attempting to fill the void left by denying himself kindness with more self punishment I think.....

I can't stop thinking about after the Idol Awards. Did everyone remember getting possessed by demons? Does the crowd remember watching the leader of their favorite boy band get disintegrated? Did the audience find out it was demons abusing Rumi on stage? Did the Saja Boys have their win rescinded? Did Huntrix get cancelled on twitter after because of "their" onstage fight despite saving the world?
#aaaa i have a headcanon for this !!#essentially. im of the opinion that they sell their fight at the idol awards as a stunt-- something to announce the new era#they say that they worked with the saja boys to tell a fun story about the band breaking up due to “personal extenuating circumstances”#they say that the saja boys won the idol awards fair and square but it was also a farewell#and the concert at the tower was essentially them collabing one last time before the saja boys had to say goodbye very suddenly#my personal belief is that no one really remembers the possession bit-- its all just sorta hazy#so huntrix uses that to quickly assert their narrative and everyone sorta just. believes them.#because when your brain doesnt have a certain memory but you know it should be there your brain will often fill that gap#there are of course twitter stans who go insane and think all sorts of outlandish things about demons and hunters and such#but most folks just remember the song and fill in the gaps with the story theyre fed#the fight was staged huntrix is back saja had to take a sudden leave due to personal crisis the end !#thats just my headcanons though !! feel free 2 ignore my ramblings lol

this dialogue is a much more interesting way to convey the worldbuilding. ALSO i find daylen and this other guy whose name i also dont remember yet to be slightly charming?? this book HAS virtues and it makes it SO MUCH WORSE when it starts sucking again
