The reality of having Maedhros as your favourite silm character is holding him by the face, shaking him, and screaming “YOU COULD HAVE BEEN SO GREAT AT BEING GOOD! YOU COULD HAVE BEEN SO GREAT AT BEING GOOD!” while both of you cry uncontrollably.

Galadriel: I’ve lost so many people. I’ve lost my husband
Elrond: Oh, I’m so sorry—
Galadriel: No, he’s alive. I just don’t know where the fuck he went

The Rings of Power is testing my patience with the design of rings
I actually watched the show trying to be open minded about it - I kinda treated it like a fanfiction, you know? I decided to ignore the thousands-of-years-of-history put into a week or so, how funny this whole series looks from Sauron's perspective, that I am pretty sure volcanoes do not work like that... But I lost it with the desing of rings of power. First, less important, just - what jeweller's nightmare is this? The uncut gems? Why? I have a feeling Feanor would be rolling in his grave (if he would not be, due to his poor life choices, probably more like non-existing in eternal darkness). But I will ask for all of the Noldor: why not shiny? Why not sparkly? But more importantly: what was that stuff with talking about "most exquisite gold and silver", smelting a DAGGER of all things, putting it all together with mithril and achieving two gold and one silver ring? I know there is magic in this universe and I get the symbolism, but I just somehow supposed metalwork is only... metalwork in this universe? And who is making daggers from "the most exquisite gold", I was of an impression even people not highly knowledgable in arts of jewellery crafting (mainly: me for example) know pure gold is like the worst metal to use to create things (bends and cracks very easily) why would you make a handle of a dagger of gold of all things, I assumed it was golden, not gold??? I know I should probably be much more angry at the whole weird idea of elves going extinct, but really, somehow I snapped at those rings, because the dagger of gold? Please

The Silmarillion reading gone wrong
I am currently rereading the Silmarillion after the failed attempt when I was fifteen. I enjoy it a lot and started to wonder why I got so lost in it before.
And that was when I realized that not paying any particular attention to names while reading it in the past (wrong!) I thought that:
Maglor and Maeglin were the same person.
Turgon and Turin were the same person (and that Turgon was a man. I know he was mentioned before the awakening of men… It is just Turgon seems like a pretty ‘mannish’ name, doesn’t it?).
Not starting on the ‘everybody seems to have names staring with F’ mess. I am almost sure I’ve seen no difference between Finrod and Fingon too. I may have confused Idril and Indis as well… But that is just completely bizarre and I cannot even comprehend it right now.
If any of Simlarillion fans see my post – just imagine it and embrace the absolute chaos xD.

"By the arts of Felagund their own forms and faces were changed into the likeness of Orcs; and thus disguised they came far (...)." This passage from the Silmarilion probably suggests that Finrod had a great ability of magic shapeshifting... But when I read it, I usually imagine him pulling out of his pocket a huge eyeshadow pallete and a makeup kit and showing off by presenting his epic makeup skills. (But Sauron was not deceived, as he hold mastery over the golden eyeliner.)

I thought that after Finrod rock opera nothing will surprise me. But look, here is a Russian metal song about Feanor. And it's lit.

Fëanorians
I’ve always wondered why Fëanor lived so short after so long of an introduction to his character and why his sons had only one (legitimate) heir. After reading the Silmarillion I finally know. ...If they lived longer they would finally succeed in creating something to destroy the universe.

Upcoming stories in The Ever-Fixéd Star
To cheer myself up, here are a few upcoming stories in the series that follows The Ransom of the House of Fëanor:
1. Maglor simultaneously getting first-time parent anxiety and I ABANDONED MY BOY anxiety because there might be a new addition to the family, and he’s simultaneously terrified that he’ll fail as a father to the new child but also that Elrond might feel neglected. His anxiety rubs off on Fëanor (who suddenly is terrified that he may have appeared like he loved any of his sons over the others). Hilarity and angst all in one.
2. The Ambarussa and the Elrondionnath have a prank war, and all Aman pays the price.
3. Fëanor, Maedhros, and Elrond make a trip to Formenos and wind up trapped under a collapsed workshop. Angst and character development ensues.
4. Fëanor, Fingolfin, and Finarfin go on a hunting/camping trip. They try not to kill each other doing so. It becomes difficult. Harsh words and hugs.

I was casually sitting and sketching when I got asked by my friend what is it that I am drawing. I replied by sending her my reference photo, this image from the game Middle Earth: Shadow of War:

She replied saying ‘Oh, at first I thought you have sent me your own photo!’. I am a blonde woman... And I apparently look like Sauron.
