Because of the recent Homestuck drama, all work on my fanventure Earthernia will stop indefinitely
I have a new non-Homestuck related comic project in the works! It's gonna have furries and be hosted on Comicfury w/ possibly a mirror on MSPFA!

THE TAPESTRY
We’re here.
We’re finally here. I have long awaited this moment. Welcome to one of the Best Sburbventure in the history of the Site. Welcome.
TO THE TAPESTRY.
The Tapestry’s main success, I think, is not retreading old ground. It is truly a successor to Homestuck in every sense of the word. It wants to tell it’s own story, and most importantly, it wants to build on the themes and motifs contained within Homestuck whilst also somehow upping the ante considerably.
First, I guess I should talk about the Art. Now, I know I have previously said in the past that Art doesn’t really matter, and that pretty much all of these comics have a competent artstyle. BUT. Sometimes, the art DOES matter. In this case, it matters a LOT. Monckat’s style of this hyper-detailed, lopsided whimsy does A LOT of selling one on the size and scope of the story, which is important. There are moments in this fanadventure (that I won’t spoil, btw) that ABSOLUTELY hit as hard as they do thanks to the artstyle.
But it’s not just Art. It’s also. Worldbuilding. Oh so much worldbuilding, oh so intricately. Make no mistake: this is very much Sci-Fi, and it revels in the tropes that come with that. The Fanspecies and the world that they occupy feel fully realized, with real history that actually feeds back into the conflict of the comic.
Not only that, but there are two things that a comic like this really needs to get me interested: Interesting Character, and Good Bits. For Interesting Characters, the characters are compelling enough that they want me to see what happens to them, but the REAL stand-out for this is basically the Good Bits. There are so many good, interesting bits, and they all feedback into the story and plot and worlbuilding and ARGH it’s just SO GOOD.
To say anything more would be spoilers, though. You have to check out this story for yourself, because wow. It is. REALLY good. If you want a crash course in how to make your story feel like it’s not just remaking Homestuck again, but actually is taking ideas from Homestuck and running with them…if you like conspiracy stories…if you like the sense of being on the bottom and slowly unraveling just how far up this chain of diaster and dread goes…if you like the creeping feeling of the game corrupting your world around you, as more and more elements from Homestuck are added into Act 2…you should check this comic out. Do it even if you don’t like those things. It’s really that good.

Immortal Man
We’ve got another non-MSPFA, and those always tend to be atleast interesting. This one certainly starts interesting; apparently the main protagonist is immortal, chained to a rock in the bottom of the ocean, which is. Certainly a start to any Fanadventure. And I like how already we’re messing around with the idea of waiting for time to pass. The skeleton that was beside us is now broken and the chains have rusted. And it’s got a cool meter, it’s been a while it feels like since we’ve seen one of those pop up (the meter, btw, is the Internet Meter, and if it dips, we time skip. Cool!)
Oh yeah this fanadventure is pretty enjoyable so far. I truly feel like I’m in a random bored guy who just so happens to be immortal’s headspace, and that’s always fun, when the characterization is embedded into the narration. It’s like. How Depressing being Immortal would be. This is a character-driven story, about how much it would suck to be this guy. Detached and depressed, wandering through the world, not caring what happens to you…forgetting other people need to breathe…
I think I respect this fanadventure for what it wants to do, and also lulling me into the mindspace of the protagonist, and also for somehow making a compelling story out of a guy who literally cannot get harmed and is detached from the situation at all times. That takes skill. If you’re curious about this one, go check it out.

Janus2tuck
Have we talked about Revamps? I don’t think we have. Well, anyways, Revamps and Remakes are an interesting tradition in MSPFA, but a welcome one. See, basically the thing is, when you’re a teenager or somebody who’s just starting out with making stories or drawing things, you might not 100% know what you are doing. Shocking, right? So when you DO make your fanadventure, you might look back on earlier parts and go “wow. I suck. I should redo them.” Or maybe you’re just not satisfied at how the entire thing went, and you’re ready to take your MSPFA in a completely new direction. Anyways, point being, you decide that you’re going to take everything you learned and make a do-over. I think this is on the whole, a good thing.
Unfortunately, even though I can clearly tell that the creator of this fanadventure has, indeed, improved since we last read Janustuck…sadly, it’s still not compelling to me, although I will admit, it’s better than it was. I guess it’s nice to have an example of a revamped, remade fanadventure to discuss this concept with all of the people reading this blog (who apparently exist? Wild).

Starting a new job at Domino's (after being a NEET for a couple years lol). Will likely take a step away from platforms like twitter/tumblr/bluesky for a little while to focus on IRL things! Could be a few days, could be weeks or longer. See y'all around! 👋
