a detail i really love in blue period is how yatora's mom starts getting into art while yatora is studying it. in the appearances she's made in the more recent stuff she's been watching art programs on tv and is really excited about learning about artists, and i just think that's really nice

ESPECIALLY when it comes to this mf right here.

it sets off some sort of fury in me whenever i see non-artists poke fun at yotasuke like he isn’t one of the most relatable characters FOR artists.

there certainly is a method to the way yotasuke acts the way that he does and he isn’t just being mean for the hell of it (in spite of what some people may think). despite his rudeness and bluntness, he is literally created to be a character that so many artists relate to based on how he’s treated and taken advantage of by non-artists.

when it comes to scenes like this

i’ve seen so many people call out yotasuke’s behaviour and how he was being over-dramatic, AS IF he hadn’t just been told one of the worst things that an artist could hear. that he didn’t even get accepted into an art university for his artistic abilities.

and there are so many more example scenes where people think that he’s just being spoilt, like where he asks yatora why he went into art in the first place, or how he quit cram school because he was sick of doing exam art.

i feel like non-artist’s opinions of yotasuke will always be somewhat negative because most people refuse to look at a situation through his eyes and they just see him being dramatic instead of thinking about how it would feel for an artist to go through the same things that he does.

I think that it should be illegal for non-artists to express their opinion on Blue Period in front of artists. Not for any gatekeeping reasons. It just might make them cry a lil.
