BBC if you weren't cowards you would've made Jason and Py take Hercules' double bed while he takes Py's single so Jason doesn't have to sleep on the floor in the living room

You're definitely right to an extent, wasn't really think too hard timeline wise making that piece, mostly just wanted to recreate that Wilde scene and also somewhat the vibe they have going on in scenes like the playing cards in the movie, so really I can only really give you info on that first and last point dghd
-On the character part, his name is Alexandre (you're Gonna have to trust me when I tell you that's a middle name and not after the author, i swear on my life dhds) and his story is still a bit loose as of yet, as I'm trying to see what details here and there in the novel as I read it might be relevant to help flesh it out, but the sorta key points rn are that he's sort of a con artist in a way, mainly deals in forging stuff for people, wether for shady dealings or his own personal gain.
I'm thinking the Count comes across him at some point in his travels, and Alexandre seeing the chance to make a quick buck off a foreigner forges something for him that ultimately has no actual value but grants him a pretty penny (some type of document? I don't quite know how the logistics would work here)
He thinks that's the end of it, dumb foreigner comes into town, he gets a small fortune off of them, and then they part while being none the wiser at all or until it's too late that they have thrown away money on something, for all intents and purposes, useless.
So the Count gets wtv this forgery is off of him, and he knows it is fake, cuz of course he does, but he takes it nonetheless and acts none the wiser, because although useless he will still need it later. Which he does, when after a short time after their interaction- could be next day, could be a week, just enough time until Alexandre feels certain the foreigner is gone and he's gotten away with it - the Count seeks him out and very calmly, but entirely too eeriely Alexandre thinks, confronts him about it which he denies. which ofc he does. until Edmond presents it back to him (the dramatics in my head enjoy picturing this as him pulling it out of his breast pocket à lá Fernand's letter dhsj)
The Count has to admit, it Is an exceptionally good forgery, he's certain that, had any other ordinary man received it, Alexandre would not be getting cornered right now, but he is and he is panicking. I mean, he's gotten away with it for so long, surely with some near misses here and there, but still, he Has been doing it. And to get caught now would bring it crashing down. Certainly prison, perhaps worse. And the Count knows this but he also sees he's got something here. So he propositions him with the possibility of, rather than getting handed in to police and likely hanged, putting his talents to be of use to him, and in return, once they have accomplished wtv goal he alludes to having a need of such talents for, he will be guaranteed not only to remain with his head on his shoulders but also the financial security for Alexandre to never need to risk it again conning more potentially powerful men like him. And although surely it sounds like there has to be a catch, Alexandre rather likes the proposition and how secure his head is to the rest of his body dghd so he takes it and joins the Count as another cog in his plan. I think logistically he might pass him off as some sort of business associate to the other characters they interact with outside of The Plan
There's actually a mention somewhere in the Italy portion of the book where he presents a document to a guard (or smth?) that says he has permission to enter a restricted area of the city from the governor at any given time day or night, which I got admittedly unnecessarily excited about, because like, oh hey here's some solid ground to support my idea somewhat DGHD because sure, he leans very much on the dazzling people with his wealth and charisma and the novelty of being this curious foreigner to pull the wool over their eyes in a away but surely at some point you might have to produce some sort of documented proof? Idk dhdh
-on the painting part, it is!! I really like how both the movie and the show (yet to watch) reference it for some of their posters so i thought it'd be a nice touch for it to be there :) The other ones only have slivers of space visible and not anything clear enough to pick out but the one on the middle top is reffed off The Execution of Lady Jane Grey, while the one on the left is Meeting on the Turret Stairs :) (last one is slightly too late chronologically but if Dumas can be messy about dates so can I dhjs)
do you wanna ask dhsj
If that's ok with you! I mean, I suspect it is, to a degree, supposed to be mysterious and open to interpretation? And then any concrete details could be superfluous and go against artistic intent. But if you are open, here you go:
does the OC have any history to them? who are they?
who is intruding (light from the opening door)? is it part of the Count's plan or is it a surprise
is it in Paris? Rome? Elsewhere else?
does it have any concrete timeline, meaning, is it happening at any concrete moment of the canon story?
is it that famous paiting besides them
That's what's on top of my head^^
