Girls of the WIld
A romance/action webtoon about a freshman who takes care of his twin siblings who gets a scholarship to a weird school.
Jaegu Song has been living parent less for the past two years, he has to take care of his brother and sister, go to school, and work at his part time job every day. But this all changes when he enters high school, a nearby school named, Wild’s High School, accepts his application due to the fact that they just recently turned co-ed, making him, the first and only male student. At a young age Jaegu’s father died, and soon after, his mom left him to fend for himself, creating a hatred for women to fester within him, making it hard for him to adapt to a school where everyone wants to become closer to him for a better grade.
The artwork is similar to God of High School and Lookism, and definitely conveys similar genres too with the introduction of the fact that Wild’s High School is an educational institute specializing in MMA. Jaegu has to literally fight for his life in this new environment filled with girls who are out to get him (even the idea of placing high school students against each other is similar).
During action sequences, the artwork takes a much harsher tone, the lines become more rigid, and the motions become a lot more emphasized, creating a completely different vibe from one panel to the next. But if you’re looking for a harem/battle arena webtoon, Girls of the Wild’s is for you. To put it simply, if you’ve read God of High School, it’s basically the same thing, except there are no other dimensional forces guiding the fights, it is purely martial arts.
Overall, this webtoon is very well drawn and certainly well written, but some major flaws lie within the last hundred or so chapters where there isn’t enough action, yet there is too much action, but not enough progression in the story, but too much romance, concluding in there not being a very well balanced story line, making the ending chapters seem too quick or even rushed. I personally enjoy the series as a romance rather than an action, due to the fact that it was just too well written as a romance, making it so that the action was more like a filler for the story, or for the comedic effect.
(super disappointing ending, almost Duty After School level bad)

Winter Woods
A romance webtoon about a human experiment on immortality learning what it means to “be human”. Winter is a alchemy experiment from the middle ages(shown on the left), he was found during the middle of the second World War within a basement in Germany, along with the skeletal remains of his father. He was then taken in by Korean scientists and experimented on until present day. As a set of new experiments, he is released into the public and was lead to find Jane(girl on the right) for further observation. With Roy(the ridiculously handsome yellow bird), his only companion since the death of his father, he is led to learn more about the world and what it means to love. Winter had previously spent most of his years, locked up in solitude, and/or experimented on, so being exposed to actual people is a big improvement to a lab. What’s most intriguing about the series is that he maintains the innocence of a 7 year all through out the entire 130 chapters leading for nice bubbly tone. The characters are very nice, making the story so much more enjoyable overall, causing every twist and turn in the story to become increasingly more dramatic. Red, the bird, is one of my favorite characters out of any webtoon that I have read, his sarcastic remarks and dedication to the ones that he cares about warms my heart to the core. And the art, don’t even let me get started on the art, the symbolism through Winter’s character design, the ever fitting background, and some of the most detailed eye bags that I have ever seen in my life, lead me to love the story that is, Winter Woods. Going back to the symbolism through Winter, he is first shown as a very sad character maybe even gloomy, but as the series progresses, the dark veil that covers him lifts and a beautiful little kid, stuck within an immortal body is formed, on that discovers love, joy and heart break and you’re there to experience it all with him. (sorry for the lack of images this time, something’s up with my wifi and it won’t let me post them with this review :/ maybe I can edit it later, for now farwell)

Eggnoid
Your average heartbroken girl, Ran, finds herself a son, after a mysterious egg pops up in her room.
After just 5 chapters of watching the mysteriously handsome yet naive boy who came from an equally as mysterious egg, it seemed clear to me.....that this webtoon will be the end of me. One of it’s more defining features is that it has a nice fluffy almost artistic style that compliments the nice heartwarming characters who are imperfect yet want the best for each other. The boy, later named Eggy (how original), is pictured like a baby, but with the body of a extremely handsome young man, he sees Ran like a mother and only wants her to be happy,
I recently started reading Siren’s Lament due to the fact that I may be the only one in the international webtoon community who has yet to read it, and I see similar characteristics between the two, although in one, the clueless boy does seemingly romantic things on purpose, whereas the other has no idea what he’s doing and why it’s bad (don’t worry, I have read Where Tangents Meet though).
After further research, I found that this webtoon is on par with Lookism in the Indonesian webtoon community which was quite surprising to me because it has just got on the English translated webtoons not even a week ago, and I may have to learn Indonesian in order to read around 20 more Lookism chapters, as well as a butt load of Eggoid chapters. Sadly though, Eggnoid has no double meaning to it, unlike Lookism, it is merely based off of the name of the egg that was given to the girl.
Overall, pretty excited for this Launch Week with this new lineup of fresh artwork and new stories to be drawn to, from a therapeutic robot, to dragon hunting bounty hunters, Line sure knows how to keep their lineup fresh and target a multitude of audiences, without webtoons, I would not have realized how interesting a guy who can switch bodies by falling asleep could be, or how vampires can be extremely dangerous yet ridiculously attractive at the same time.
I look forward to more chapters on this egg-centric series, and hope for more egg-celent work from Archie the RedCat. See you in the next webtoon review!

Hardcore Leveling Warrior
When the most powerful player of a video game becomes the least powerful. Hardcore Leveling Warrior is about addiction, poverty, and the human condition….when it talks about the real life story of our main character named Ethan Gong or more commonly, “Hardcore Leveling Warrior” hence the name. But when he is in the video game “Lucid Adventure” a game you play in your sleep, it’s an action packed comedy, for the most part.
The basic plot of the story starts when Ethan gets killed by a mysterious character and his stats are reset because of it, resulting in him taking on a long term job of helping a kid level up in Lucid Adventure, and the story up until now generally follows them on their journey. Personally, I didn’t like this series in the first stages of it, the main character seemed shallow, main character seemed snobby, main character was just annoying in general, but as the story progresses, the character development gets really good, you see truly how insecure Ethan is, how his life became devoted to Lucid Adventure, among a vast number of things like him slowly warming up to his new team.
The art style is pretty consistent for the most part so that’s refreshing, but instead of a steady increase in ability of art, we see a grand number of new characters introduced two times a week. Nowadays, Hardcore Leveling Warrior tends to be one of my first reads when I get on the Webtoons app, so that I can slowly learn more and more about the world that they live in, and how the next new problem is going to be solved. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy listening to my reviews on the Webtoons and Korean culture things that I find interesting each week. Lookism is definitely getting very good right now, and I’m extremely excited to finally learn the “Truth About Daniel Park”!! Anyways, thank you all so much for the 275 follows, I’m so glad that people actually read the things that I write and sometimes? enjoy it even if most of it is incoherent. See you next week~

Refund High School
An average girl dies before her desires are fulfilled, leaving her two choices, reincarnation into something random, or three years at Refund High School to become anything she wants (she chooses the latter).
Tumblr media
The girl on the left (Aru Kim) happens to be the main character on this newly discovered webtoon, and before she died, all that she wanted was to have a handsome boyfriend. In order to find the perfect boyfriend, she cyber-stalked a multitude of Instagram boys, her favorite being the boy on the right (Gunn Ryu).
In the first three chapters it explains the lives of each of the four main characters of the series and the days before the event that causes all four of them to die. Who might the other two members of the story might be, well they’re Sehui and Mari, Sehui being a cute black haired girl who had been trying to become an idol for 7 years, and Mari, the niece of Sehui’s boss who also wanted to become an idol, but probably just had to suck up to her uncle in order to have him form a group for her to debut with. Meaning that Sehui is not too fond of Mari, mainly because Mari is super stuck up and is never trying as hard as her.
Tumblr media
If you couldn’t already tell, the art is similar to Super Secret, but it can also have intense detailing like Lookism, which I thought was super cool for an artist. Overall the feel of the story is pretty light, but only because if a new character is introduced, they’re generally super hot and the next panel tends to be Aru with hearts or her fainting, either that or they look super weird and the next panel is Aru freaked out with the iconic black background and The Scream face.
I feel like the story is soon going to pick up once we learn what people study at Refund High School, or why there is so many non-humans enrolled, but that’s just a theory. Mainly, I’m waiting for Aru to realize that looks aren’t everything, and that Ryu is extremely shallow, or maybe that her life does not need to be defined by the person that she’s dating or not dating. Although it’s entertaining to see her fall in love with all the hot characters (including the Grim Reaper), I hope that the series grows so that she becomes more independent and not rely on others so much.
That’s all for this time, I hope you have a wonderful week and I’ll see you next blog post.

Dice: Season 4
Season 4 starts off strong with the introduction of a new character who is willing to do anything in order to change her life. But what we are left with are a multitude of questions, like “What has Taebin doing this whole time?”, “Why is X missing?”, “What happened to Eunjoo and Taebin?”, and most importantly, “Has Dongtae unified the dicers in the past month?”. Personally, I thought that season 3 for the last 30-40 chapters felt rushed, like the author was trying to get to season 4 as soon as possible because he was bored with the current storyline, or maybe I’m projecting my own feelings onto the series, but I am definitely much more interested in the new progression of the series where Dongtae is back to his old self, X is gone, and no more frickin Eunjoo for the time being. Some things that I liked/disliked from Dice so far.... Although, a mean protagonist is never the case for most mainstream webtoons, having Dongtae care about his own girlfriend from time to time wouldn’t be so bad, Mio deserves much more than Eunjoo-obsessed-Dongtae. Taebin has been missing this entire time, like literally for at least a year now, I almost forgot he was a main character at one point, so uh please more Taebin, or decide what to do with him. Mio needs to be more assertive with Dongtae, it’s obvious that she’s jealous of how he feels about her, but she’s too caught up in the few good memories she’s had with him to move on, either that or, Eunjoo should straight up reject or accept Dongtae’s feelings for her, her not being clear on what she wants has given me great distress as a reader. The plot is extremely intriguing, the progression during the first season was so fast-paced and exhilarating, it felt as if the few hours of content went by in around 30 minutes, sadly as the series progresses, the story arcs seem to be going at the pace of a snail. The art is fits the style very well, with the incorporation of the texts from x and actual drawing itself makes the story very interesting. Also, Nami and that toxic boyfriend guy, and I know, he had good interests at his heart, it was unfair and cruel for him to keep her alive in such a manner (pk), and I’m sure that if she had known about it, she would have taken matters into her own hands, this particular story arc was one of the reasons why it felt so slow, they spend like 40 chapters trying to identify him/get to know him, and then he is critically injured or dead and so is Nami, so what was really the point. That’s all for my rant today, have a good rest of the week.

Sweet Home
A high school student loses his family in a tragic car accident.
Tumblr media
The character shown above is the main character of this surprising webtoon, Hyun Cha, is a reclusive 18-year old teenager who spends all of his time on the internet. He is perpetually stuck in his room with his lights turned off and his computer monitor on, but when his parents and sister die in a car accident, he is left all alone. He then decides to move because with the money that he’s left with won’t sustain him for very long, and after a couple of days within his new apartment complex, things get very strange.
Sweet Home updates every Monday and is a very strange/suspenseful webtoon at that, things around Hyun turn out differently than I would have ever expected from one of the best duos in the webtoon community Youngchan Hwang and Carnby Kim, who made Bastard, another great webtoon that had finished March of 2017. Unlike Bastard though, Sweet Home definitely uses colors much more often in order to differentiate things that are going on, whereas Bastard used the lack of color in order to emphasize on panels where there were color, making them seem much more dramatic, but definitely both webtoons have very similar color palates.
Some reasons why I like this webtoon are, it keeps me on the edge of my seat, every chapter is a new adrenaline rush on it’s own, the artwork has definitely changed for the better, things just seem to be in much more detail and the usage of colors is just....wow! For the plot, I think that I need to wait until there is more chapters in order to judge it, at the moment, it doesn’t make much sense to me, but I feel that in around 10-20 more chapters, things will start to clear up, and the webtoon will just become much more enjoyable as a whole.
Tumblr media
Thanks for reading my review this week guys, and I hope you all have a wonderful week. As a side note, I have a song recommendation, Shiloh - Hold Onto Me, it sounds wonderful behind most things, from a League of Legends gaming session, to a webtoons binge, it probably sounds great behind Annarasumanara too, but I just think the song sounds nice.

Ghost Teller
A horror story told by creatures from Korean folklore.
Tumblr media
The story revolves around 6 phantasmal beings from Korean culture, but sadly I was only able to identify half of them. The first of which is the handsome man in the hat in the image above, he is most likely the Korean Grim Reaper (or JeoSeung Saja 저승사자), identifiable by his traditional hat and hanbok. And to the right of him is the Dokkaebi 도깨비 or Goblin, and are neither ghost nor human, but are almost friendly creatures found usually in the night of when it is dark. Lastly, the girl on the far right is a gumiho 구미호 or Nine-Tailed Fox, displayed with her fiery fox bead to her right.
Tumblr media
What I really like about this webtoon, is the fact that it can get me scared, but not go into that gritty style of art that is prominent in Have You Any Fear, the artist keeps the style nice and clean throughout the telling of the story making each panel a visual masterpiece which sets this story apart from many others in the genre. The basis of the story is that ghosts are telling the story of humans, proving that humans are in general much scarier than any ghost, which is extremely cool on it’s own and along with the stunning visuals, it just makes an amazing comic that can captivate anyone who reads it.
I can’t wait to see how this story progresses, this has been my first horror genre webtoon that really has truly amazing art, previous horror stories could only hold me based on the intense stories, but I can say with clear conviction that I will be reading Ghost Teller for as long as it runs because it hits me with the double whammy that is usually unknown to the horror genre on english webtoons, AMAZING art and SPOOKY story. That’s all that I have for this week’s review, sorry for the repetition and I hope you all have an amazing week and wait for my next post.

The Masked Henchman
"I am just a nameless, faceless henchman in an evil organization." -Mask Guy
Tumblr media
The story is set in a world where heroes and villains exist. The Masked Henchman names himself Mask Guy (on the right), but is otherwise nameless besides the nicknames that his friend Wildcat (on the left) comes up with for him (ex. 2Dots, Eye-Holes). The manwha is a fairly quick read, and updates monthlyish (it varies) because it is on discover, I was only able to find out about this webtoon because it was featured on the homepage recently and it is absolutely amazing!! The characters are easily identifiable because of the simple style, and yet it is strangely captivating because one moment you’re trying to write your blog post on the first chapter, and then you read all 30 or so.
Tumblr media
The plot itself is absolutely hilarious, Mask Guy just wants to have a normal jobs, but all of the jobs that he seems to get are all henchman jobs of some sort, so he joins the other “nameless, faceless henchman” and signifies it with his iconic almost blank white mask, but then he saves the hero Wildcat after shooting him, and becomes a mole for the Hero’s Association by taking on these henchman jobs and finding out the locations of the secret bases of villains. I think that the story is funny only because of how unlucky Mask Guy is, he just never catches a break.....
The artwork works very nicely with the story and just really helps emphasize on the anonymity of the henchman and you can really see how they become the “nameless, faceless henchman” that Mask Guy is trying to portray. And although the artwork may seem simple, there is a certain complexity to it that is easy to miss while reading through the chapter, but the artist, nori, is really putting some hard work into these chapters.
Overall, I really like this webtoon, I just wish that nori would post more so that I can see more of my favorite masked henchman in action. (GET THIS FEATURED WEBTOONS PLEASE!!) That’s all for this week’s review or commentary on webtoons or korean culture, I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and a happy new year, ciao.

BTS
Tumblr media
In response to my primarily K-pop post, here is the long-awaited specifically BTS post. BTS is a South Korean boy band formed in 2013 debuting with the album “2 Cool 4 Skool”. BTS stands for  방탄소년단, or Bullet-Proof Boy Scouts, but are also called, Bangtan Boys or more recently Beyond The Scene.
The band consists of 7 members who are loved and adored by all their fans, the names are as follows, from left to right from the image above, Jin, V, Suga, Jungkook, Rap Monster, Jimin, and J-Hope. My personal bias happens to be V (which definitely isn’t because that was the first name I could remember), and I got into BTS because of a dance that I had to do for an event that I was apart of (the dance I had to learn was Boys in Luv in case you were curious).
Tumblr media
In recent years the group has really taken off in the international charts, beating out American artists even in AMERICA, which is pretty much unheard of in the K-pop industry. I think that BTS is popular in the Americas because it audibly sounds similar to things that have already been released by popular American artists, to further that point, when The Chainsmokers collaborated on a song with them, the same BTS style prevailed (The Chainsmokers are a successful American DJ/production duo).
In terms of songs, their music can take on a variety of genres so they can be listened to enthusiastically by most music maniacs, with a variety like rap, ballad, electronic, and many others, what’s not to enjoy. And, they consistently come out with new songs, so if at first you don’t like their songs, in their next album release you might find something that you seriously enjoy, I know that’s the case for a lot of people I know after Mic Drop came out.
Tumblr media
Overall, these boys are already record breakers, and seem really close as a group, so hopefully they continue on releasing music for a long time, but basically that’s my post for the week. Thank you all for reading this incoherent word dump of a blog post, and I’ll see you all by next week. Also, thank you all so much for helping me hit over 100 followers, I’d like to thank my success all to my friends and family as well as Ms. Jennie Le who has been supporting my blog endeavors recently.

K-Pop
or Korean Pop has been growing internationally in terms of sales and popularity in the past couple decades or so.
Tumblr media
(BTS with PSY in the background)
On Spotify, BTS and PSY hold the most streamed K-pop songs with over 52 million views each. PSY is most famous for his global chart topping hit, Gangnam Style, visualizing the ridiculous pursuit of materialism in the form of a ridiculous man trying to become more like his rich counterparts who live in Gangnam. Whereas BTS, has become much more popular in the last few years following their release of The Most Beautiful Moment in Life albums, in my own opinion.
BTS has recently won some awards that have caught the attention of many people in America, and are only getting more popular as the days go by and more albums get released. Most recently they were nominated for the American Music Awards and won the Billboard Music Award for Top Social Artist, beating names like Ariana Grande, Justin Beiber, and Chance the Rapper, all very popular American artists beaten by foreigners, but why did this happen. Well BTS is known for their “fresh sounds” and their “forward-thinking pop with quick rap/vocal delivery”, in other words, their sound is nice accompanied by cute boys, which is never a bad thing. Their dances are definitely different from other boy groups as well, when I look at the boy group EXO I see seriousness and complexity, when I see VIXX I see playfulness as well as uniformity, but when I watch BTS dance I see some kind of combination of the two, although their sounds and members are completely different, creating a unique mixture of vocals, dance, and visuals that have all contributed to their success as a band.
Tumblr media
(BTS after they one at the BBMA’s)
BTS and PSY are not the only Koreans making it big in the international music charts, groups like TWICE and BLACKPINK are also extremely big in the K-pop industry. The two girl groups in question are relatively opposites, one being known for their girly concepts and cutesy yet catchy songs, and the other for their trendy pop songs and hip hop style respectively. But.....yeah I’ll probably do another specifically on BTS and I really tried to make it more on the generalities of K-pop and what’s popular at the moment but uh, my preferences for music might have shown a little too much. Anyways, thank you for reading, see you later koreaboos.

Siren’s Lament
A tempting offer from a ridiculously hot mermaid goes horribly wrong.
Tumblr media
Lyra is your average florist (pictured in the middle), with a small exception, she has a secret weapon over most other flower sellers in the world, Shon(pictured on the right), who is able to attract dozens of young girls, like honey does flies. One problem though, Lyra has been in love with Shon since she was a kid, and last year he found a beautiful girlfriend. On the night of a date-of-sorts between the two of them, Shon receives a call that his girlfriend needs to be picked up, Lyra urges him to go while she proceeded to weep underneath the moonlight at their would-be date night. She hears an alluring sound and falls through the railings lining the shore, landing in the ocean. She ends up in the arms of a siren, a mythical Greek creature, and asked, “...if given the chance, would you forget the past?”,she later finds herself on the beach with a naked man to her side, otherwise known as Ian (shown on the left) who is everyone’s favorite dead goldfish.
But basically, Ian was trying to turn Lyra into a siren by kissing her, but something went wrong and they both ended up half human and half siren. In this series, sirens are mermaid like creatures who can manipulate water, sense heartbreak, and entice the heartbroken into the water. The curse that Ian was trying to place on Lyra was one that a magician named, Poseidon, made after he was heart broken, but what it entails is that a human is turned into a siren at the expense of their memories, and the only way to break it is to turn someone else into a siren.
Tumblr media
I liked Instantmiso’s previous series, Where Tangents Meet, but this is far better, and as pointed out by other readers, she HAS gotten better at drawing abs as well. I feel as if the change in story genre change was really good for her because now with this new romance/fantasy webtoon, her characters and art have definitely improved for the better. Not only is her art turning out very nice, the story itself is definitely more lifelike creating a better attachment to the characters and to the webtoon as a whole.
-spoiler alert-
First and foremost, main protagonist review, Lyra at times seems to be very 2D in the sense that she is only seeking the good in the world, and is blatantly in love with a character that in my eyes does not seem very lovable. (although Shon at times can seem very noble, he doesn’t seem very loving of Lyra, he either is very inconsiderate of her feelings, or he is completely oblivious to the fact that she loves him, and watching him go out with a complete stranger must’ve hurt her in many ways, but that’s besides the point) After almost 100 chapters of reading about how Lyra loves Shon it gets to the point where you think to yourself, when will she realize that Ian seems to love her a lot more than Shon does, but I don’t know, that may just be me :/.
But, that’s all for this week, see you guys in my next webtoon review/korean culture post (probably the former)

Another thing that I find that is unique to this webtoon, is that
