Oh I will.
And maybe it was the turkey or the first glass of wine post pumping or just the fact that enough time had finally passed.. But Jane said, … Yes

Lost opportunities, lost possibilities, feelings we can never get back. That’s part of what it means to be alive. But inside our heads - at least that’s where I imagine it - there’s a little room where we store those memories. A room like the stacks in this library. And to understand the workings of our own heart we have to keep on making new reference cards. We have to dust things off every once in awhile, let in fresh air, change the water in the flower vases. In other words, you’ll live forever in your own private library.

From Windows to Mac: Never going back

I finally got my baby Maki on the last week of May and almost two months in - I can finally say that I am never going back. I’ve been a loyal Hewlett-Packard user. I had three HP laptops and I’ve used the pink HP mini for most of my college life. It was handy buuuuuut the battery life is nothing compared to what I now have in my hands. I know that a lot of people are thinking that i only bought it because of the name and how Apple is famous for making things people don’t really need BUT I must beg to differ. As Camie Juan put it
“Now I understand why there are hardcore Apple/Mac believers out there and their support for the brand isn’t just a hype, it’s deserved.”
I basically begged my parents to get me one as I’d be needing a reliable laptop for my last *fingers crossed* year in college. Being a 4th year Psych major means you’d be dumped by paperwork (hello thesis/research!) and you’d really need a laptop to pull you through. Some may say that you don’t need a laptop THAT expensive for that but ho ho ho I need to correct you on that because it is what I exactly need. Why you may ask - here are my reasons:
1. BATTERY LIFE. Without Wi-Fi and other connecting applications, my Maki’s supposedly 9 hours becomes 12 hours on battery without charging it. We go for research on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are allowed to charge for an hour and a half in the laboratory and after that my classmates scram and fight for a socket. I, on the other hand, am busy and focused on our paper with my battery on the least of my worries. Also, I can go watch like 3-4 episodes of Suits without having to charge my Maki for the whole day. Very convenient. This was my problem with my Windows XP/Windows 7 HP.
2. EASE OF USE. Okay, at first I have to admit that I had a hard time navigating around it. I often had to open Safari and type how to bla bla on mac. Total NOOB. But after a few weeks of easing into it, I am now able to do a lot because operating it does not really require a lot. It’s like I have an iPad that’s a laptop. I mean seriously, once you get rid of the habits of a Windows user, using this baby will be easy peasy for you.
3. DESIGN. I love the sleek design of all Macs. It makes you look like you mean serious business when you are using it. It also has this minimalistic feel which is why it gets to fit in in any type of environment. This may be the reason why Apple products are expensive but totally worth it.
4. PERKS OF BEING AN APPLE BABY. I’ve been an Apple user way before I got my Maki. I first used the first square iPod Shuffle then got the 2nd or 3rd generation iPod Touch which I swapped with the first iPod Touch with Camera. Less than a year after that I used an iPhone 3G. Then I got my iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.
a. Airdop and iCloud. Now one of the main perks of being an Apple baby is the Airdrop. Goodbye wires and ordinary bluetooth. I can easily pass my files around with Airdrop. iCloud is good too but I don’t have WiFi connection that often which is why Airdrop is the way to go with me.
b. Trackpad. This is really one of the things I love about this. The Multi-Touch gestures makes me feel like I’m using an iPad instead of a laptop. When I use a Windows laptop now, I often do the gestures and I have to laugh and remind myself that it’s not my Maki!
c. Apps. Need I say more? The apps makes me more lazy but CONVENIENCE over anything.
d. Shortcuts everywhere. One of the things I was also amazed about when i started hunting for my Maki was the spotlight. It amazed me because I don’t have to open the calculator to compute and it really does search the whole memory of my laptop. Later on I found out about the keyboard shortcuts and how you can choose what part of the screen to take a shot of. SCORE!
5. IT’S A DREAM COME TRUE. Everyone who wants or owns a Mac kept on raving about it. Seldom do I hear people going from Mac to Windows. Also, this has been a dream, a wish. I almost gave up on getting this but when I lost all hope of getting it, it came. ;)
And there goes my story of From Windows to Mac: Why I’m never going back! Would love to hear your Mac stories too!

Five Things: July Roundup
The seventh month of the year is coming to a close and it feels like I’ve already been in school for a LOOOOOOONG time already. Well, the feeling of being a graduating student! I’ve been so busy in school and I’ve been juggling work and play so that I don’t get burnt out again. Things have been good despite the bad start of August. Let’s just say that there are really people who are insecure enough to bring others down. But in my line of work, I must understand why these people act the way they do so let’s just leave it at that.
Now, let me share with you the five things I found this July.

Gear Laptop Bag - Maki’s Case
I’ve been looking for the perfect case/sleeve for my Maki and it’s been hard because of the few stuff available here in the province. To my surprise, I found this laptop sleeve at Puregold Manna Mall. It is a locally manufactured sleeve from Gear Philippines. It already has handles and a front pocket where I can put the charger and earphones. This is definitely a good buy for less than 400 pesos.

Logos Hope + Notebook Loot
The MV Logos Hope recently visited the dock of the City of San Fernando, La Union. My friends and I got a chance to squeeze in a visit on its second to the last day here in the Philippines. There were a lot of people on deck so I didn’t really got a chance to browse the books. Luckil my friends spotted these cutesy notebooks from The Flame Tree (Peacock Foil Notebook/Journal) and Green Inspired (Bird with flowers and quote). The MV Logos Hope is now docked at Hong Kong.

Longchamp Le Pliage Neo Handbag with shoulder strap
i am in love with this Longchamp line of products. This is my second one. The other one is the Fleur de Ravello in blue. I love how I can just put all my stuff in and be ready to go. It is very spacious and I love the fact that it’s a shoulder bag. Another plus is that it can fit my Maki with sleeve!
Thought- Provoking Books
I chanced upon these two books in the library. It’s a different genre from what I usually read from the two authors. I love Paulo Coelho’s compilation. These are some of the lessons I got from Like the Flowing River
When something grows undesireable in my soul, I ask God to give me the same courage mercilessly to pluck it out.
Love really was enough
You can have at your disposal all the means of communication in the world, but nothing, absolutely nothing, can replace looking someone in the eye.
Any action committed in anger is an action doomed to failure.
Where there’s life, there’s hope.
The greatness of God always reveals itself in the simple things.
However intelligent a man may be, he will soon lose his warmth and his flame if he distances himself from his fellow man.
Those are just some. I promise to make a separate post for this.
I’m still at the first chapters of Have a Little Faith so the lessons and review will come next time.

#NoteToSelf
Last but not least, a though nugget from one of our teachers. Need I say more?

Suits
Since my shows are currently on break right now Martin recommended a series that I might like. At first I didn’t want to open it thinking that it might be too technical. Made up excuses not to watch it but Martin just made me watch an episode with him and the rest is history.
My two new favorite boys right now are Harvey Specter and Mike *OMG I can’t believe I forgot his last name.* Anyhoo. I just finished the first season and I can definitely say that I AM HOOKED.
All I can say is that lawyers are cocky. And Martin’s right - they need to be. It’s just sad how they twist the law to their advantage. But you got to admire them for finding loopholes and using evidence to turn things around. Sometimes, it’s just even about the presentation or how you ask the questions. There are those episodes where I think they would lose but doing what Harvey does - well we now know why he costs a thousand dollars when you talk with him per hour.
As for the love teams - I initially loved Rachel but got irritated at her when she got pissed when he knew Mike’s secret. Didn’t like Jenny at first but how he brings out the best about Mike is just hnnnnng! But I’m back to liking Rachel again. I like Harvey and Scottie or Donna. The chemistry is just there. But of course, Harvey is Harvey and he only loves himself.
#Suits-related tweets
That thing when you watch movies just so you’d get the references used on your TV shows
Harvey’s Dana Scott looks like Jordana Brewster + I’m starting to like Jenny more than Rachel
Patrick J Adams looks like a young Neil Patrick Harris 😎
Harvey Specter 👌
“Son your ego’s writing checks your body can’t cash,” - Jessica Pearson
“Winners don’t make excuses when the other side plays the game.” -Harvey Specter
That was one hell of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to get the second season from Martin. Well -
See the money wanna stay, for your meal/ Get another piece of pie, for your wife/ Everybody wanna know, how it feel/ Everybody wanna see, what it's like I'll even eat a bean pie, I don't mind/ Me and missy missy so/ Very busy busy making money/ Alright /All step back, I'm about to dance the greenback boogie

“Jim Parsons’ eloquence and elegance as an actor came across. It’s such a beautiful moment. If you watch him processing the conversation with Amy that’s happening… then that moment of deflation, and then he really kind of like… he opens up a whole other world when it looks like one has just closed. And you know, that’s Jim Parsons, that’s his genius.” Mayim Bialik.
