24K posts
This has turned into mostly an archive as fandom is filled assholes and I need peace. I will occassioanlly return if I need to discourse. Star Wars: Finnpoe, Finnrey, Reyva, Bassian and Spiritassassin. I'll stop blogging about fandom racism the day fandom stops being racist. Jewish and increasingly done. No Jews aren't white. NSFW themes will occur. Minors are advised to exercise caution! NOT SPOILER FREE!

2) im gonna make commentary in a forum then act like a bitch when people give their own
Lol, jokes on you. This is a blogging platform, not a forum. Learn to know the difference. If you want to debate something, join an acutal forum or a club bitch.
Now, take your little racist ass off my blog and out of my life.
P.S. Kyle Katarn was always a shit character and a Mary Sue as hell
Holy shit.
I’m rereading the old Dark Forces comics/graphic novels/whatever and I’m quite frankly shaking at the similarities between Kyle Katarn (the lead character in the comics) and Finn.
It’s been ages since I read them last, something like 15 years. I gave them away when I walked out on Star Wars last time but the friend I gave them to has been kind enough to let me lend them back for a bit.
I’ve mentioned some of this before, but I had forgotten soooo many details and I’m really just floored by the number of parallels and similarities.
And it’s not just the obvious. Though if we start there Katarn too starts out as a Stormtrooper but end up defecting when he realizes exactly how evil the Empire is (and the only person he’s close to - his father - is killed by them) and he’s Force sensitive, the latter being a really big part of his story line.
He starts suspecting his Force sensitivity when he starts getting premonitions and sensing things now ordinary person could possibly sense .
He was top rank among his year as a Stormtrooper.
His story is tied up in a one of a kind droid who shows him a map that leads him to part of the old Jedi heritage.
Part of what leads him to the Rebellion is running into a cute and competent Rebel agent (whom he saves, despite being a Stormtrooper and all).
And if we dive into spoilery territory for a bit there are those rumors flying about about a special kind of Stormtrooper showing up in Episode VIII. Well part of Katarn’s storyline was taking out the Dark Trooper project, a project that revolved around infusing top rank Stormtrooper with Dark Side energy making them deadly soldiers.
Oh, and after he leaves the Stormtroopers he wears a trademark coat.
Tumblr media
There’s absolutely zero chance that Finn wasn’t meant to imitate Kyle Katarn.
And finally let me just put out there that Katarn was instrumental in rebuilding the New Jedi Order. His methods revolved around discipline and hard work, which worked well as a counter balance to Skywalker’s approach of intuition and instinct.

Rose’s necklace, a hint of her origin story?
@lj-writes and I got to talking the other day about Rose’s necklace and how it might tie into her past and her story in The Last Jedi.
Early on in our discussion the talk fell on Jedha, in part because Rogue One established it as a form of Space Asia and it would not be beyond Star Wars’ usual MO to have another Asian character - or rather two since we must include Paige in this too - and because of what we have of Rose’s background so far makes her seem like a refugee surviving at the fringes of the galaxy. And by extension her sister, Paige, too.
Considering that refugees are often discriminated against - in fact we see no justice for Jedha in extended canon at all - and the fact that the First Order, like the Empire before it, are persecuting and deliberately targeting religious minorities, any Jedhan living in diaspora would be a prime target.
A quick trip to Google by us both revealed several more interesting facts.
First, Kelly Marie is 28 so unless they age up Rose considerably she obviously didn’t survive the destruction of Jedha itself, but Veronica Ngo who plays Paige is 38! Apart from everything else, that’s some age gap between the sisters.
Of course, if Paige along with her family were direct survivors of Jedha, it would take years before they’d feel safe enough to start rebuilding and certainly not while the Galactic Civil War was still on. But if we use Kelly Marie’s own age as a measuring stick, Rose would have been born a few years after RotJ, a time where the galaxy might have felt safer and the Jedhan diaspora would have had hope for the future.
That was, of course, before tragedy struck again, and the First Order destroyed their second home just as the Empire had their world of origin.
While LJ and I were discussing this, we had a simultaneous discussion about “Why a crescent? Why would that specific symbol mean something to Rose?”
Early discussion brought up the Death Star itself, which looked like a crescent from the surface of Jedha when it was doing its destructive work.
(All the following pictures here are dug out or made by LJ. Thank you for doing that legwork)
Here’s the Death Star forming a crescent shape over Jedha as it blocked out the sun:
Tumblr media
And here it is seen from the ground as it was firing the beam.
Tumblr media
But that is a rather morbid imagery, why would Rose want to carry it? And why the lattice work on its surface?
Here LJ’s Google search brought up an interesting fact about Jedha.
There was a group on the moon that was called the Church of the Contained Crescent. They, at some point in the past, inhabited the catacombs that Saw Gererra uses as a HQ in the movie and when they did, they installed a lattice window.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This image from Rebels does not appear to be the latticed window itself, since it seems to be in a tunnel, but it forms an interesting visual parallel with Saw standing before the window at his base.
Tumblr media
In the trailer (Bald Saw) the lattice window was intact, while in the movie it had been shattered, but you can still clearly see the remnants of the lattice work.
(A tragic bit that LJ also dug up, Saw died at that window.)
What’s more, the window must have taken some effort to put in because it is actually a short tunnel through a rock wall, which creates the visual effect that when you look at it from almost any angle - except head on - you see a crescent shape.
A crescent covered in lattice work.
This picture gives a particular good view of the remaining lattice work
Tumblr media
Now compare with Rose’s necklace.
Tumblr media
When you compare the edgings into Rose’s necklace, they look very suspiciously like what remains of the lattice in the window.
Now we know nothing about this group - The Church of the Contained Crescent - except that they existed, but LJ came up with the idea that they might have been a prophetic/end of days group who foresaw Jedha’s doom - perhaps marked by the crescent shape of the Death Star - and the reason they vacated the catacombs was to make room for Saw’s group. Or perhaps they were trying to prevent their own vision from coming true by vacating.
This remains unanswered as we know nothing about them except the name and the fact they installed that window.
One could object to this theory by pointing out the lack of “Jedhan sounding names” - though given that that is a fictional place then what would that indeed be - but then it wouldn’t be the first time someone was hidden under another name than their birth name for the sake of protection.
Padme Amidala hid in her time as queen of Naboo often under the alias Padme the Handmaiden to protect herself from enemies. Leia was raised under the name Organa, rather than under Skywalker or Amidala or Naberrie to shield her. Even Jyn Erso had numerous aliases in her life because her own name would make her an Imperial target. So why shouldn’t the Tico sisters live under a name not their own if their original names mark them in the eyes of the First Order and those who support them. And possibly even in the eyes of members of the Republic who wish to forget the past entirely.
Of course, if this is true it leads to some very interesting questions and thoughts.
For one thing, Rose possibly being a member of a “Force church” begs the question how she ties into the Force plot, further made relevant by the fact that Kelly Marie had chemistry readings with Mark Hamill indicating that they’ll share some crucial scenes together.
It would also mean an expansion of both Jedha’s role in canon - and maybe that, for once, LucasArts would deal in any kind of depth with one of its multiple instances of genocide - but also an expansion of the many other Force ideologies beyond Jedi that the new canon has introduced. We got the first - the Church of the Force - in TFA when the First Order massacred a village of worshipers on Jakku. We heard of the Guardians of the Whills in Rogue One where two of the last members played a prominent part.
Furthermore, it would deeply affect the interactions between her and Finn. Not only is Rose more likely to be a few years older than Finn, just like Kelly Marie is a few years older than John. They may even have aged the character up compared to the actor, making the age gap even bigger than most people expect.
The ages and personalities would affect her hero worship dynamic with Finn as well. She isn’t a star struck young girl, but a grown woman, “a very practical person” according to actor Kelly Marie Tran’s recent interview with Entertainment Weekly with a very tragic, hardscrabble past. She might see in Finn as much of justice as her people are ever likely to see in the galaxy. After all, the actions of Bodhi, Chirrut and Baze seem to have been as much justice as Jedha ever got, whether under the Empire or the New Republic.
Jedha has always looked to its heroes because many were willing to exploit their resources and culture but few were willing to fight for them. Rose may see in Finn such a hero, and in the process will become another such hero. Whether she will be a Jedhan hero is a matter of speculation and theory at this point, but the crescent necklace hints tantalizingly at that possibility.

Ancient Mysteries
Summary: Finn Stormbreaker, apprentice to the Arch Mage Luke Skywalker, is presented with a mystery by his master.
A/N: Just a short fantasy AU that popped into my head today. Probably won’t be any longer than this. Or maybe it will
Can be read on AO3.
Finn raises his hand and knocks on the heavy, wooden door to master Skywalker’s study feeling that mix of excitement and trepidation he always did when entering his master’s study.
It doesn’t matter that he has been his apprentice for the better part of a decade now, that feeling has never changed and Finn doubts it ever will. There is always an ambience of barely tamed power around the man that is unsettling to most and Finn knows that even if the other masters in Mage Hold respects and revers their leader, they also deep-down fear him and what he might do should the full extent of the man’s power one day be unleashed.

Hi :) i've only just found your ao3 and i've devoured Fulcra in one sitting, its one of the only longer series that respects finn aß much as poe or rey. Do you plan on continuing? Have a nice day
Hi Anon.
Oh this was sweet, thank you for telling me this. I always strived to get a balance between the three, though Fulcra was always primarily Finn’s story.
As for continuing... good question. Originally I put the series down because I’d had it up to here with the racism in the Stormpilot fandom. I love the ship and that’ll never change, but oh boy some of the BNF shippers.
A couple of months ago I started writing for these two again and it made me go back and have a look at this story again too, even though I lost most of my notes last year when my old laptop died on me part of me wanted to pick it up again. I even went so far to go back and re-read what I had already written to maybe make an attempt to recreate what had been lost, or just set out in another direction.
And here’s my problem. I’ve changed, writing wise I mean, in the year that’s gone and changed a lot. So much in fact that I’m not sure it’d feel like the same author writing if I picked up the story again.
I’ve been waffling ever since. Part of me really do want to pick it back up, at least make another 2-3 installments which would bring it not to a conclusion, but to some sort of closure, instead of leaving it hanging in the middle as it is. Another part is convinced that it’d be deeply dissatisfying for both me as a writer and for my readers to have a very jarring change in style in the middle of things and it’d be better to just put up a warning at the beginning, that this series is unfinished and will remain so.
So far, I’ve taken no final decision.
You know, I think I’ll have another look at it tomorrow, see if I can make anything of it and get back to you on this.

Given how much you shit all over Finn’s character on your blog, while “Ben” apparently is sympathetic for every wrong he did because it’s not really his fault or something, not to mention how you hep twist every single scene with Finn in it to suit your reylo narrative, I find your “good faith” to be completely false.
Besides, you míght not mock, but you have not problem supporting or cheering for blogs who have habitually vilified and attacked Black fans who loves Finn. So again, your good reylo narrative sounds incredibly false.

What do you get out of being an annoying asshole? Kindly fuck off my post
Baze doesn’t start repeating Chirrut’s chant when he dies, at least not quite.
Chirrut’s chant is “I am one with the Force and the Force is with me”. What Baze says “The Force is with me and I’m one with the Force”.
Reverse order.
And it’s not because he’s just picking it up where Chirrut left off, Chirrut is silent when Baze reaches him. Plus when he starts his suicide run after Chirrut is dead he says exactly the same thing: “The Force is with me and I’m one with the Force”.
Again, reverse order.
It made me think.
What if the chant was always two part, meant for two people to conduct? One saying “I am one with the Force and the Force is with me” and the other replying “The Force is with me and I’m one with the Force”.
Chirrut haven’t heard the second part in years, not since Baze lost his faith. He could he supposes find another partner for the chant but he doesn’t want to, it’s Baze or no one.
He still keeps his own part, his own faith are as strong as ever and he makes no demands that Baze say his part. It will genuinely from the man’s heart or not at all, but he can’t refuse that the loss pains him some times.
Hearing Chirrut’s chant sometimes annoys Baze, it reminds him of what he once had but lost. But he says nothing. Whatever he does or doesn’t believes these days he won’t take faith away from another. And he knows that Chirrut isn’t doing it to upset him, but because it means something to him. So he stays silent on the matter, though sometimes he wishes he could say it again.
And the last thing - the very last thing - that Chirrut hears in this world, as consciousness fades from his body is Baze’s heartfelt voice saying “The Force is with me and I’m one with the Force”.

#whereisfinn - October 6 Twitter event
Due to the obvious lack of Finn in both merchandise as well as promotion of “The Last Jedi” so far, @stormscavenger and I planned an action to make LucasFilm, Disney and Hasbro aware of our dissatisfaction about the current situation.
The goal is to tweet the hashtag #whereisfinn to @starwars @disney and @hasbro on Twitter tomorrow, October 6.
Feel free to add messages voicing your opinion about the lack of Finn. (We ask you to remain polite though, no insults - because such messages would be ignore by them anyway)
Here is a picture with evidence that you can tweet to them as well:
Tumblr media
With the trailer for “The Last Jedi” being released on October 9 this is a good chance to remind them how much WE care about Finn, and how much WE notice the lack of Finn in merchandise and promotion so far!
Please reblog this post as often as possible and share news about the action on twitter. The more people take part, the better!

I've just seen someone use the holocaust as an au-backdrop for fanfic and I really want to ask them to not be terrible and please not to post this shit at their big bang posting date but is that a thing i'm allowed to weigh in on even though i'm not jewish
One question. Is the fic writer Jewish? Because if they are I’d step clear. We are as a people still dealing with the Shoah and while I hate any and all Holocaust AUs I can see why a Jewish writer would use this as a way to, in some way, deal with the trauma we’re all still carrying.
This goes for Romani writer too.
If the fic writer is neither please have at it my friend. Non-romani goyim seriously need to stop this shit. This is not a backdrop for a romantic story, nor is this your trauma to examine. It really isn’t. Kindly go step on a Lego if you think so.

Funny how a lot of this has indeed been explored by Finn fans, both in the context of his relationship with Poe and looking at Finn as his own character without being anyone’s prop.
Of course, knowing that would mean having one fucking care about Finn as a chracter on his own and you know, actually read things that centered on him and his trauma.
Funny how this is really the first time she’s bothered bringing up Finn trauma in relationship to this. Why haven’t it been interesting enough before now.
Also, love how she’s backtracking on her “Poe is far over a decade older than Finn”.

I don't know why these people can't understand simple concepts like "not everything is about Kylo Ren". Saying Kylo is the antagonist is not an attack, it is a fact. Speaking about being sidelined by LF isn't about Kylo or whatever crack ship they like or don't like. I already know fandom doesn't care about characters of color.
I don’t get it either. Or, I do but I don’t.
If it’s not about a white (male) character they must insert a white (male) character into the discussion. Everything must center on a white (male) character. Male here is in brackets because while it is usually Kylo, Rey has been used in the same way though a lot less often.
Characters of color was never allowed to exist on their own, that much was clear in this fandom from the freaking start.
