I know that in the year of our lord and savior 2025, most of thg tumblr is pro-Peeta, but one thing that irks me is his frequent fandom portrayal as intensely vulnerable or essentially helpless. yes this man wears his heart on his sleeve, but he still tells half-truths about his upbringing and omits things he’d rather not say. He lies and manipulates and twists reality—for the greater good, perhaps—but charisma is his weapon as much as Katniss’s is a bow and arrow. what makes him a good man and such a likable character is his ability to admit weakness, accept help, not be prideful, and to ultimately and endlessly value humanity. sure, he’s patient, but he’s not a doormat. he’s not physically incompetent. he’s not a perfect goody-two-shoes soft boy. he’s a real human being with flaws and a heart bigger than the sea.

Dean asks Cas if he would still love him if he was a worm and Cas very affectionately says "you're basically a worm to me already" and then doesn't understand why Dean's upset because Cas would love any version of Dean, any shape or size or iteration because it's Dean and Dean is like "don't mind me, worm coming through"

Comparing Haymitch and Katniss' narrative styles is so funny to me because he's a yapper and she's a gatekeeper. He drops more lore on D12 in the first two chapters of SOTR than she does in the entire trilogy.

Haymitch is like "Yeah, so this person is related to this person who's related to this person and things are this way because of this and this thing actually came from here and this person is actually my best friend and also here's this extra tidbit of random info cause all my lore dropping comes with it's own additional bonus content and all my unnecessary commentary."

And Katniss is over here like "Tf do I care for if y'all know all the lore of District 12? I'm talking about my beautiful husband's beautiful eyelashes."

One day I'm gonna write a thesis of why Gale is one of the most hated (if not THE MOST) character of the hunger games

And it's not necessarily because of the actions he made during the war (which are not helping his case) but because we can relate to having someone with no empathy towards others who they have no interest in, someone making us feel guilty, someone expecting and pressuring us into romantic relationship/interactions just because they feel entitled to us because of what they have done

The way Dean’s life never really belonged to him. And this kept happening, time and time again. Being a parent to Sam while being daddy’s blunt instrument. His dad expecting him to kill Sam even though Dean’s the one who raised him. Having the hell deal hang over his head. Heaven and the angels plan for him and Armageddon. The mark of Cain demanding blood. Crowley letting him become a demon for his own purposes. Amara. Metatron. Michael. And finally god pulling the strings the whole time

I truly think he’d have given up long before if he didn’t have Cas in his life. And it’s why lines like ‘we’re making it up as we go’ and ‘you asked what about all this is real, we are’ were so powerful

Cas knew and acknowledged that Dean rarely got to live a life that was his, and he fought for that every second until he died from loving him

Headcanon moment: He uses it for everything, it's a pillow and a blanket, it keeps him warm and safe as much as one can be in that word. It's also the weight of responsibility on his shoulders-to keep the kids and camp safe, a responsibility that he often finds as heavy as being a big brother to Octavia was. It's the one thing he puts on when he leaves the small room they've given him in Arkadia and the last piece of clothing he takes off and hangs by the door at night. Sometimes he looks at it and drags his hand over the back, wondering what his mom would say if she could see him wearing it now. It has been her idea for him to join the guards so they could keep Octavia safe and he had failed. Now years later, he had failed even more people and he often wondered if he deserved to wear it at all.
