"Natlan was saved because of power of friendship"
Idk man, the whole nation's motto is "no one fights alone" and the nation was built on Xabalanque's gamble with God that humans throughout the generations together will finally be able to stop a threat that even Phenes's colonizer ass is scared of.
I would fucking hope that in the end it's because of the people we built our bonds with that we were able to achieve the impossible.
The whole theme of Natlan is about human determination and willpower overcoming impossible odds, that it took millennia worth of sacrifice from the people of the nation to finally be able to beat back the Abyss once and for all.
Since y'all like bringing up Fontaine so much. This was no different from Furina's 500 year act.
To put into perspective, Natlan is Furina's act if it started 3000 years ago—at minimum—and she had to also constantly fight Abyss invasions that if she even slipped up once, it wouldn't be just her nation that would be fucked—but the entire world.
Do you understand how crazy it is that the people of Natlan had it for a minimum of 3000 years!!?!?
Add to that their Archon didn't get immortality along with their divinity, they had to protect Natlan and the entire world from the Abyss... WHILE HAVING NORMAL HUMAN LIFESPANS.
Natlan constantly emphasizes that without the people working together, the bonds formed, the generations that have come before, that their victory wouldn't be possible.
So yeah, I for one am glad that the "power of friendship" saved the day.
CAUSE THAT WAS THE ENTIRE GODDAMED POINT OF NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE!
It was Natlan's fate that they will always be fighting the Abyss alone. But Xabalanque's gamble that together their nation will one day win and there will be no more war, paid off due the efforts of the people working together and knowledge passed throughout the generations.
Both Fontaine and Natlan are about defying their fate as imposed upon them by the Heavenly Principles.
And the both succeeded.
