Begging some fanfic authors to get on this train pls
Seeing the storyboards of Rumi as a baby and her parents...He was such a gentle demon, and so happy to have Rumi.
I need an AU of Rumi being raised by her parents, and still being a hunter with Zoey and Mira. Imagine her father being the classical "he's a bit confused but he got the spirit" when it comes to learning about raising a half human-demon daughter. Rumi learning how to use her demon powers, combining them with her sword but also coming to terms with both worlds.
I don't know much about the father, but I like to imagine he's kind of a desertor from Gwi-Ma.
I'm sure Mira would think Rumi's parents are the coolest, and Zoey would understand Rumi about being from two different worlds.

My opinions on how to train your dragon: the hidden world (if you liked the 3rd movie, look away):
while there are definitely things I enjoyed about the 3rd film, there are also a lot of problems with it that make me view the 2nd film as the end of the canon content.
First I don’t hate the ending, in fact I like the emotional ending of the dragons leaving (I wish it didn’t end that way but thats a whole different thing). What I hate is why toothless left in the first place. He left for a female dragon he knew for like a day. I’m sorry you’re throwing away a SIX YEAR friendship for a girl you met in A DAY. (Also mind you he literally became the alpha in the last movie to protect Hiccup so…) I don’t buy it. The ending would be so much better if there was no light fury and toothless and hiccup realize the dragons need to leave to be safe. Toothless leaving for the safety of his species is a good ending. What makes it not work for me is the light fury. I would have preferred if the light fury didn’t exist (besides just hating the concept her design is also lazy). If she needs to be in the movie, they should have limited her impact. Too much time was spent on this light fury that overall didn’t add much to the story for me.
Secondly, grimmel. UGH I did not like him. He just was not a good villain by any means. He was set up to be this brilliant and calculated villain but he fell extremely flat. Most of his calculated “genius” moves only paid off because the gang made mistake after mistake. (Truthfully hiccup made so many unhiccup like decisions in this film). Also, I did not like the rehashed “dragons working for the bad guy” trope. Grimmel is supposed to be this masterclass dragon hunter, so why does he need dragons to help him? It makes no sense (and quite frankly having a villain who didn’t need dragons to take down other dragons would be way more scary than what we got).
My favorite villain is Viggo Grimborn because they set him up as the strategic game player and actually back it up. I stand by the fact that Viggo is what they wanted Grimmel to be. Viggo is actually the smart villain they wanted grimmel to be because his wins don’t come about because hiccup or the gang make a stupid mistake. He wins because he is out thinking hiccup. Like hiccup is playing an amazing game and is making good moves, Viggo just makes better ones. Viggo also benefits from being a tv show villain since they have more time to build up his character. In that same vein, I think Grimmel would have been a better tv show villain because for his type of character you need more build up.
Lastly, leaving Berk/the hidden world. First off you could just tell it was such a forced in plot point. Like how was grimmel so much more of threat than Drago and a colossal sized alpha dragon that they needed to leave berk (again in part to the lack of development of Grimmel). I just didn’t feel that there were enough stakes for them to leave Berk.
Don’t even get my started on the characters. Everyone was pushed aside except for hiccup, Astrid and toothless. Let’s not even get into snotlout’s weird obsession with Valka (why couldn’t they have just made her a mother figure for the gang idk). Toothless losing everything that made him a terrifying dragon that was called the offspring of lighting and death itself. Like I get he is supposed to be like tamed and all that but the 2nd movie was a good balance between the two. Why did they have to push it even farther?
Anyway, that’s my rant on the third movie.

The family dynamic of race to the edge is SO funny because Hiccup and Astrid are obviously the parents, then you have Fishlegs who is the eldest child but with an inferiority complex and is constantly seeking the approval of his father Hiccup. Snotlout has classic middle child syndrome and the twins are obviously the youngest who are constantly messing with everyone and everything

Ok guys. Read through number 80 million of The Ballad of Never After. I’ve discovered:

Raw grief only seen once a century. And we see:

Because Jacks is a fate, specifically the fate of love, he loves with a certain intensity. This is shown when he’s got Evangeline in his arms, and the story curse itself mentions that this was a rare form of agony.
Jacks doesn’t love Eva like Luc or Apollo ever could. He’s the fate of love. He loves her so much, and he fights to hard to leave her alone so he can protect her in the only way he knows how, hurting her. Jacks loves her, he doesn’t want to hurt her. He loves her more than we know.
Jacks is so much stronger and deserves so much more credit than we give him. Props baby, I see you❤️
THEY DESERVED THEIR HAPPY ENDING TRUST.

Omega: being a sniper must be so nice. Just sitting up high and keeping an eye on things through your scope? You have the chillest job on the battlefield.
Crosshair: *has flashbacks to this one battle where he watches through his scope as Hunter runs head-on into a firing squad of 200 droids with nothing but a knife, while Wrecker is purposely trying to set off every bomb he finds, while Tech takes off not only his leg armor but the rest of his armor too because it’s “getting in the way,” and he can’t even see Echo anymore but alarms just started going off in the Separatist base behind them*
Crosshair: …yep.

Okay, so Fives would have definitely loved the Bad Batch, but I want to go into deeper detail (under the cut)
Hunter
Okay so I feel like he would absolutely love Hunter, but would also butt heads with him a lot, since I feel like they’re very similar in some ways. Fives kind of sees Hunter as a younger version of himself, so he would take him under his wing to guide and teach him. Hunter would probably find this weird at first, since he’s used to being the oldest and not being the one who is looked after, but eventually he enjoys it. Fives is someone who Hunter can step into the younger brother role with, like with Echo and Cody, and just be silly and relax for a bit (and be the little shit we all know he can be).
Wrecker
Fives loves him. He reminds him of Hevy and Hardcase, but is also uniquely Wrecker. Fives thinks he is just the sweetest guy and is surprised by how much he allows himself to open up to Wrecker. Actively encourages Wrecker’s shenanigans because Echo he’s right we don’t know what will happen if we blow up this pie we need to see!
Tech
He sees Tech as a younger version of Echo, and because of this holds him very dearly. He wonders if this is what it would have been like if Echo had been the younger twin rather than himself. Gets Tech to come out of his shell a bit, like how he does with Echo, and is often surprised and impressed by just how much of a MENACE Tech can be when he wants to be silly, which is also similar to Echo.
Crosshair
This was actually kind of hard for me to think of. I feel like since Fives and Hunter are so similar, there would definitely be some respect from Crosshair on that front, but it’s also kind of weird for Crosshair. I feel like Fives would actually be able to help him through his low moods, and Crosshair would let him after a while, since he’s so much like Hunter but also like Echo. Fives also would probably be like how a lot of fan works interpret and portray his relationship with Tup, where basically he’s like “if not little brother, why little brother shaped?” Is already protective of the batch, since they’re all younger, but he’s probably more protective of Crosshair since he’s the youngest. This drives Crosshair crazy because now there’s THREE of them!
Omega
Absolutely adores her, not only because it’s Omega and she’s just the sweetest sunshine child, but also because she is an absolute MENACE. She is the craziest, most badass kid he’s ever met and he hyped her up SO MUCH (much to the horror of Echo, Crosshair, and Hunter).

Tech survives the fall but has almost no memory of himself, endures Hemlocks conditioning only to be put into a bacta tank until Tantiss is destroyed.
Somehow he manages to get off planet via an imperial ship as they collect what's left of the mountain base, the unease of the world disappearing into space. It's been years-
(he thinks)
(since what?)
He isn't sure.
He finds a job on Coruscant, that's where he exits, where he exists. Technology seems to rise up to meet him.
And...
He calls himself 99.
He jokes because even HE can't be 💯 certain of anything .
It feels wrong...but also right.
Though... there's something gnawing at him inside, ordering him to listen...but he was never good at following those.
He thinks he could be ok whatever he sacrificed to get here.
Until he sees someone with his eyes.
