Ciana gave a small chuckle at her sister’s easy brush off, though she crossed mental fingers.  “I think we’ve all been stressed,” she acknowledged. “But with everything… especially with it happening to Naomi…I can understand the worry.”  She shook her head. “Vent away,” she offered, always ready to help her family.

“I know people can’t help how they feel, but I really wish they could” said Luna. “They are all walking around so scared. But of course I’m the one who has to sense all of that. Event thought it was my cousin that got kidnapped.” Luna liked her powers, most of the time. But sometimes, she wished she had a different ability.

“I do!” She nods her head quickly, frowning at the obvious doubt that her sister seemed to have. Looking up, a blush appears on her cheeks before grinning.  “Yes, he makes me very happy!” Ariel confirms, sighing softly as she sits down on a stool. “Lun, I love him.”

Luna laughed at the sight of her sister’s blush. “Well, as long as he makes you happy. And treats you right.” She added as an afterthought. She didn’t want to bring up her sister’s past, especially when Ariel was so happy. But she couldn’t help but be concerned. “Do you? Really love him, I mean?” Even though she liked to think she was an expert on human emotions, Luna was still single.

“I guess there are some hardass teachers around here.” It had been awhile since Garrett had been a student so how strict some teachers were was hazy for him. He dropout before he could finish getting his psychology degree. “It’s a good thing I didn’t become a teacher here. I’d be far too lenient and nothing would get done.”

“We do have some tough teachers” said Luna. “Not that I blame them. A lot of times, if you aren’t tough, students will take advantage.” That still didn’t mean Luna wanted to be known as the tough teacher, though. She laughed. “I’m sure you wouldn’t be terrible. But teaching probably isn’t for everyone.”

“agon,” he repeated, nodding at the predicament. “i can’t say that i wouldn’t have done the same thing, unfortunately. maybe write important names somewhere nice and big so students don’t forget them. i did that sometimes with parts of chapters my classes were covering and while it was annoying, it seemed to work. repetition is a good thing.”

“I’ve tried that” said Luna. “But half of them never look up at the board. They think just because their phone is under the table, I don’t realize they’re texting or looking at cat videos.” She sighed. “I suppose it doesn’t hurt to try again, though. And maybe start taking away the phones of the worst offenders.” She didn’t want to be the teacher everyone hated, but she also didn’t want her students to think she was a pushover.

“Oh, I’m sure. I mean, if chocolate cake doesn’t cheer her up, what will?” Noah isn’t fully serious. He knows that Naomi will have a long long road before she’s fully recovered. But hopefully, this will at least make her feel better for just a little bit. “Oh, the green food coloring is a good touch!” 

“I know cake always cheers me up” said Luna. Of course, what Naomi had been through was terrible. But Luna needed to feel like she was helping, even if it was only in a small way. She smiled when Noah complimented her choice of food coloring.”Thanks! Green isn’t my color, but its definitely Naomi’s.” She headed over the sink and began to wash her hands.

Ciana blinked up at her older sister before sighing and offering a half smile.  “Is this you asking for a loan or just wanting to vent for a bit?”  If she and her sisters weren’t full proof of how siblings could be both close and yet so very different, then she didn’t know what was.

“The latter” said Luna. “I’ll figure out some way to pay off the card. Besides, that’s at the bottom of my list of worries right now.” She waved her hand, as if brushing the debt aside. “Everyone around here has been so stressed lately. Its adding to my own stress.”

River gave her a slight smile after she thanked him. He was trying hard to seem normal, everytime. “I’m not sure.. I’ve never been in a library before. I usually buy books and read it but my bookstore is closed today exceptionnally.” He sighed deeply, looking at the book he had in hands. “I don’t think that’ll help, but if you think so..”

“Well, that’s a shame” said Luna. “But I suppose everyone needs a day off. Even the owner of a bookstore.” She frowned. “Why? Are you an expert on trying to avoid problems through reading?” She couldn’t help but feel annoyed.

“Oh well, definitely too late for that.” She snorts and shakes her head. “It can be different for other people, you never know.” Ariel points out, a smile growing on her lips when she thinks about a certain someone. “I will always be here to give hugs. You’re so sweet, sis.” She laughs, chewing on her lip as she debated on telling Luna, but the words slip out before she can really stop herself. “I met someone.”

“If you say so” said Luna skeptically. She had her doubts. But she didn’t want to argue with her sister. Not after what her family had just been through. And, when Ariel mentioned meeting someone, Luna’s thoughts shifted entirely. “Really?” she asked with a smile. “Do they make you happy?” She wanted to know everything. Especially if they were treating her baby sister well.

“I think I may have accidentally maxed out my credit card” said Luna, trying not to blush. “But, in my defense, its been a very stressful month. It was retail therapy.” Although she supposed the debt collectors wouldn’t take that as an excuse.

“Hey, I get that, I wish there was more that I could do to make it better but..” Ariel frowns, placing her head in her hands, looking at Luna through her fingers as she smiles warmly at her older sister. “Thanks, Lun. I would love that instead, come on.” Nodding her head, she wraps her arm around her sister.

“Never apologize for feeling how you feel” said Luna. “Its something no one can control. Besides, feeling emotions is healthy and normal.” She believed that there was something wrong with people who didn’t feel emotions like love and fear. Smiling slightly, Luna returned her sister’s hug. “I needed this” she said. “Seeing you always makes me feel better.”
