@lupitalucha : #freecyntoiabrown I made this in her honor. Her case is part and parcel of the #metoo movement of women fighting sexual violence. Itus the most vulnerable victims that seldom get justice and it is our duty to make sure it’s otherwise for her. Petition link in bio. “Brown is serving a life sentence for the murder of a Nashville man in 2004. According to Brown, after a childhood marked by abuse and drugs, she was raped and forced into prostitution by a pimp, and ended up killing one of her clients out of self defense when she was just 16 years old. Despite her youth, she was tried as an adult and given a life sentence.” (CNN) #lupitalucha #xicanadaily #solidarity #Artivism #SayherName #protectblackwomen (at West Bronx, Bronx, New York)

Some girls are full of heartache and poetry and those are the kind of girls who try to save wolves instead of running away from them.

Found a couple of #Verizon scab managers dangerously handling wire and equipment while breaking the #VZstrike in Queens. It's important that we stand by striking workers and discourage scabs like these everywhere we see them! #solidarity is a verb. #StandUp2VZ (at Junction Boulevard)

Chicomoztoc, “the place of the seven caves”
An Illustration from the Historia Tolteca Chichimeca, A post-Cortesian codex from 1550 written by the people of Cuauhtinchan to sustain their right to their lands under the Spanish Colonial authorities. They wrote their history from A.D. 116 through 1544 using a mixture of European and prehispanic styles.
from Wikipedia
Nahuatl legends relate that six tribes lived in Chicomoztoc, or “the place of the seven caves”. Each cave represented a different Nahua group: the Xochimilca, Tlahuica, Acolhua, Tlaxcalan, Tepaneca, Chalca, and Mexica. Because of a common linguistic origin, those groups also are called “Nahuatlaca” (Nahua people). These tribes subsequently left the caves and settled “near” Aztlán, or Aztatlan.

Refugee mothers are survivors who refuse to silently be abused by domestic violence, gangs, borders, ICE, or for-profit prison companies. Please support two brave mothers who have faced retaliation by ICE for their participation in the #Hutto27 hunger strikes!
Francisca and Maribel both fled extremely violent ex-husbands with gang ties and asked for asylum, only to be caged by ICE at the infamous for-profit Hutto immigration prison for women in Texas. Francisca and Maribel were part of the #Hutto27 who launched a hunger strike for their freedom at the end of last year. CCA retaliated swiftly against both women by sending them to immigration prisons in Pearsall and Laredo far from their social and legal support.
Maribel was just granted an $8500 bond at her hearing on Friday Feb. 12 and, thanks to RAICES, was able to get out the same day and is now getting the medical care she desperately needs, and staying at a shelter in Austin! This was a tremendous victory for those of us who have been supporting Maribel and for the women who went on hunger strike at Hutto. We are immensely grateful that she was able to walk free so quickly after receiving a bond, and will continue fighting for the release of Francisca and the other women who were retaliated against during the hunger strike! Funds raised from this page will go towards the RAICES bond fund to ensure that it remains a resource for other women who will also need this help in the future. Thank you for supporting these brave women! Sincerely, Texans United for Families
