Ok so- kink at pride. A lot of people on tumblr reblog a lot of posts saying “you can’t hide kink to make yourself appeal to straight people”. I think it’s pretty obvious that anti-kink folks are motivated by disgust and fear, not deep beliefs in strategy, and I’ve said as such. When mentioning this, a friend (trans lesbian, married) said:

“My stance is not informed by either respectability politics nor personal disgust. I like kink! But what I don't like is creating spaces where even well-meaning adults running kink booths or displays could easily have flirtatious and sexually charged interactions with teenagers. And you might say, well just ban teenagers and kids. But I don't think we should isolate LGBT youth, who are often already extremely isolated.
