man like if you had been removed from khml for a while or had never been attached to it you might think like oh haha of course this project is cancelled it never got off the ground. but MAN!!! you go back and look at everything and it’s like. man they had music and voice acting they had cutscenes they had character customization they had a battle system they had an aesthetic they had a story and lore they had a whole world built they were COOKING!!! they had a lot of food already made!!! they cannot just pour it all into the garbage without at least salvaging some of it for us!!! this straight up cannot be happening!!!!!! this CANNOT be the unceremonious end entirely!!! it is disrespectful to everyone who worked on it!!! please at least give us what you had!!!! the link was missing but it was not nonexistent!!!

nooo I’m sorry that they did that :( I can’t imagine only imagine how much of a disappointment and let down that is

it’s just so. wrong. inappropriate. to have been so bad with delivering news these past three years, only to finally give us a cancellation notice without much else on the matter… it isn’t clear exactly what went down that led to this, how far along they were; whose decision it ultimately was… there were so many people who have been working on it all this time only to have their work lost… i sincerely hope they at least show us what they did already have finished of it… but man. square enix has just been so poorly managed lately. arguably for the entire past decade. why can’t they put their money where their mouth is or be quiet. they clearly do not have the staff to work on more than one thing at a time and that one thing is always going to be final fantasy, especially final fantasy 7 (part 30). not an attack at those fans or that franchise but mannnnnn kh is popular too……. i would’ve accepted a simple version of the game but they were too ambitious and then decided to just kill it entirely? that’s what we get? at least they say they are in fact working hard on kh4 but the loss of khml makes me so pessimistic for the entire series

Tbh with KHDR nearly not getting completed and KHML getting cancelled/completely abandoned(?) until further notice, I do worry that the next saga is going to be painfully, noticeably absent of the KH side stories that helped define the previous saga.

Like, I enjoy the numbered console games a lot, but part of KH's appeal as a series for me has been that extra spice sprinkled throughout: the handheld titles and the side stories that explored other characters and time periods that helped add more depth to the game's universe and themes leading up to the next console release.

If the post-KH3 Lost Master's saga turns into something like "KH4 -> KH5 (end)" I'll be really disappointed.

Hopefully this is just a sign of how the live-service mobile game market is doing right now (KHDR and KHML both being live-service mobile games) and not a sign of the KH series diminishing as a whole?
