Hello do u have any tips for pixel text

i don’t do much pixel text tbh, but when i do it’s better to keep it simple if you can - especially if you’re not re-sizing (sans serif is ur friend) 

on the right are just some examples of how you can make text stand out more on different backgrounds - light on dark (or vice versa dark on light) always works, but using outlines are also a good way to make text pop out a lil better

like any lettering, using guide/ruler lines is the easiest way to keep your text in proportion. If you’re using a lot of text i’d recommend drawing out an alphabet first too, then you’ve got something to work from.

I find like, angled/diagonal text or anything with a little perspective particularly annoying with pixel because it can look pretty distorted and hard to read - but you can always just step the letters if it’s a flat surface ~

oh and also i nearly always do my lettering separately on the canvas (though to the right measurements!) so i can have a few variations on the go and just overlay them to see what goes best 👌👌

I love the rainbow checkmarks but the colors could be improved. Maybe something like this?

In the the most recent Fireside Chat for World's Beyond Number (episode 7 "Kahuna", available on their Patreon), Erika prompts Brennan to talk about "that crazy Christmas party you went to".

Brennan recounts an experience from when he was struggling to get by as a young performer/writer in New York City. His day job was as a caterer, and they had been hired to cater an ultra-wealthy NYC Christmas Party. It's full of details of gross decadence, but focuses on on what affected him the most:

"The thing that really fucked me up [about that party was that] I was at a period in my life [living] in New York where I was like 'Yea, I'm really hungry and scared all the time, but I'm living the bohemian dream! I'm a struggling artist! When I go out on the weekend and I'm dancing with my friends, no one will ever feel the depth of joy I feel [because it comes from] struggling and grinding out here with my friends."

"[Then, at that Christmas party,] I saw those rich heirs and heiresses dance... and they were having a better time than me, and it wasn't close! I watched these rich people dance with the most reckless abandon, and their faces [wore an expression reflecting that] 'We're having a great time, uncomplicatedly! We're not examining this! It's so fun!'... and then I heard my stomach [growl]."

A new version of Phineas and Ferb is being released. It is on a streaming service, and will be rated MA. Everyone wonders what this mature version of their beloved kids show will be. The first season is released, and you start watching it. It is just the same as the first season of the old show. Is this some elaborate joke? Finally at the end of the first episode, it happens. Dr. Doofenshmirtz is defeated, as he usually is. This time, however, as Perry is making his exit, you here Doofenshmirtz yell, "Fuck you Perry the Platypus." This is the only thing that has changed in the show.

vanilla extract is perhaps the fastest a meme has become unfunny to me. it was funny the first time i saw it (everyone choosing vanilla extract in the "let's bake a cake" poll), and then it was funny when i saw it in an unrelated poll. and after that it was never funny ever again

ok i just love this clip for the candidness of it. karl putting on the sleeping mask. dream asking where his tiara's at. sapnap trying to tell karl a story and giving up and asking george to do it instead. karl accidentally smacking dream when his attention is switched. dream being a baby about getting smacked and derailing george from his explanation, especially when karl cuddles up to dream in apology. getting interrupted by staff because they can't stay there. the layers of it all...

I ended up having a really interesting conversation with some people at the bus stop today. They were getting out of some sort of ‘clean and sober’ meeting and had starting saying how they were so bored because they didn’t have anything to do, and had to stay at home because all their old friends would pull them back. So I said something like, ‘So this is the time to do all the stuff your parents told you they didn’t have money/time for!’ “Whatcha mean?” “You know, like when you were five and you REALLY wanted to have that toy or do that thing and you were like, ‘Please mom please I gotta have this I gotta go do this’ and they went ‘Hell no you think I’m paying for that do you want to goddamn EAT?’ “ And this light went on in their eyes. The lady is going to go check thrift stores for an Easybake Oven and I told her about Wilton cake decorating classes. The dude is going to Griffith Park and ride horses, because, ‘I always wanted to be a cowboy, and you can’t drink when you’re on a horse ‘cause you’ll fucking die!’ Fuck it. This is what being an adult is. Sure it’s bills and work and relationships, but damn it, it’s also time to do the things you LIKE. I signed up for a free class/lecture on Water Gardens. I’m going. It’s time.
