i just kind of took a second to just go “wow…. i sure love gladstone…!” which sounds dumb but like hear me out… he’s such an interesting character ! which i guess is me being a little biased, because i think luck is such an interesting concept for a character to be based on & just…… i love how it’s played on gladstone. always winning \ never losing , gaining materialistic things that he has no real use for \ growing bored each day, because nothing new or exciting ever really happens to him.

i love how he acts in a facade of a personality so people can just ! leave him alone! he’s so use to people only ever treating him as a resource because of luck \ so he just has this protective barrier around him that just distances him from other people & it shows how /flawed/ a man with the greatest luck of all time is ! sure he wins all the time, but he has no incentive to win, or people hate him because of it. & he just figures that this is just his curse to bear

i love his love of rain, when everyone’s inside their homes he’s out. dancing in the rain , gazing at grey clouds dripping rain from the heavens ! listening to the pitter patter as rain hits the floor, or bounce from his umbrella. i love how soft he becomes, and just…. letting go of his facade to just be able to smile a real smile!

the ray gun is another bad-luck-causing device and i absolutely hate these pages because looking at them i can actually hear gladstone making that terrible straw-in-almost-empty-drink noise

"Hold still." She'd asked him to close his eyes the moment prior, as a surprise awaited him in the palms of her paws. Leaning up onto her toes, Judy placed two headphones into his ears, and let the downloaded rainy ambiance drown out the busy noise of Zootopia's Central Park. The gesture called for him to open his eyes, ready to see the bunny flash a wide grin and two thumbs up. "Well, whaddya think? It's your own little rain cloud." Words were almost unintelligible, just the way he liked it.

   EYES  CLOSE   ;   ENTER  DARKNESS.   it  made  him  a  little  uneasy   \   sure  he  has  closed  his  eyes  many  times   ,   using  them  as  gateways  to  escape  reality.   however  the  unknown  still  made  him  anxious   (   even  if  you  know  you  won’t  be  harmed   \   the  thought  still  strikes  a  bit  of  fear  into  you   ).   he  trusted  judy   (  thoughts  you  never  would  have  guessed  would  bubble  inside  your  mind   \   the  word  trust   \   you  never  really  had  to  place  that  trust  unto  anyone  before   \   no   ,   all  that  trust  had  been  placed  into  his  luck   \   it  was  a  nice  change   )

   RAIN  DROPS   ;   EYES  OPEN.   at  first  he  had  truly  thought  that  rain  was  pouring   (   you  would  have  preferred  that   \   the  sound  of  rain  is  nice   ,   but  the  smell   \   the  grey  colors   \   it’s  much  more  peaceful   )   however  he  was  still  grateful  for  the  gift.   anywhere  he  went   \   he  could  summon  his  own  rain  cloud   &   disconnect  from  society.   he  could  feel  a  warm  smile  like  a  setting  sun  curve  onto  his  beak  the  moment  his  eyes  meet  judy’s.

   ❝    you   really   are  the  best  with  gifts.   thank  you.    ❞   his  voice  mellow  like  a  rain  cloud   \   no  sarcasm  or  misplaced  smugness   \   a  genuine  thank  you.

So upon seeing this post, the colors of the coat made me think of a night sky, so I had to draw it out!

   HE   DIDN’T   LIKE   THIS   ,   the  way  donald  was  acting.   he  didn’t  like  seeing  him  like  this   (   yet  what  can  you  do   ?   if  anything  this  was  probably  your  fault  to  begin  with   ).   there’s  a  fire  igniting  his  own  eyes  that  have  long  since  frozen  dull   \   he  wasn’t  going  to  let  donald  take  all  the  blame  this  time.

   ❝    that’s   not   true   !    ❞   this  wasn’t  the  tone  from  an  old  jukebox  player  playing  smooth  jazz   \   no   ,   there  was  grittiness   &   intensity  flaring  up  his  voice.   however  he  brings  it  down  a  notch   \   for  he  did  not  intend  to  lose  composure  so  easily.   ❝    i  mean   ,   who  decided  that  you  should  take  the  fall  all  the  time   ?   look   ,   we’ll  figure  this  out  okay   ?   you’re  not  the  one  to  blame  for  this.    ❞
