dean and cas figuring out what tf to call eachother in public. boyfriend is too teenager/romcom for dean, he’s 40 years old for godssake… the thought of husband crosses eachothers mind, but dean physically short circuits and cas understands the significance and is not willing to throw it around lightly. the issue with all of this, is that they’ve gone through enough together to transcend the ‘boyfriend’ label but, neither of them are able to touch the ‘husband’ label.

so i think they’d settle on ‘partner.’ the term boyfriend can sometimes be thrown around as a joke or used occasionally, but partner is exactly what they are. they’ve been a team since they’d met, hangups and falling outs aside, but they’ve always come back to eachother… they are partners in crime, partners in life and death, they are eachothers good half. everytime cas calls dean his partner, he glows something angelic and the words sound holy and the smile that sticks to his mouth when he says it is sweet and warm. it takes some getting used to on deans part, to be honest, but it honestly rolls off the tongue easy and he buzzes a bit when saying it. dean cant help but feel confident when he says it, because there’s no better word to describe what cas is to him.

they also both know it’s fulfillling deans not-so-secret cowboy fantasy. the word is so western, and sometimes dean will say it with an exaggerated southern drawl. cas is happy to indulge.

A funny story...

Yesterday I was decorating my laptop with some Supernatural stickers, and I didn’t notice until now that I stuck one of them upside down.

What’s even funnier is that it was this exact one!!

every time I think about how terrible of an ending dean and cas got i remind myself that they could always fire misha, recast castiel to a woman, say he "changed his vessel", and make destiel canon as straight. Suddenly the ending isn't so bad anymore.
