                ❝ why do you always look like you have a stick up your ass? ❞ now wouldn’t that just be a sight for sore eyes. sans the glower and pursed lips, of course. one could do less with the attitude, but beggars can’t be choosers. arms resting up on both sides of his perch, legs crossed, he pans up a stare from his vantage. not at all condescending, given the more diminutive stature that he occupies with logan, but more questioning.  

              WELL THAT’S NOT THE WAY TO GET A POSITIVE RESPONSE FROM HIM. the wolf fixes the other with a blank expression, before clearing his throat. ❛ ─ what can i say, your mere existence annoys me. ❜ of course, this was PRECISELY why most tend to avoid his acknoledgement ; logan was hardly ever in a cordial mood. even less where tony was concerned.

                    He’s definitely out of practice. Once he could conceal his notable presence from other members of his kind with ease, but now only catches himself dumbfounded when he is suddenly confronted by the stranger. Aiden swallows dry as he attempts to form some semblance of a sentence to explain away why he’s been following the stranger; he can feel his poorly thought out plan to merely observe the stranger from afar slipping through his fingers. “Maybe I come here for the coffee,” he lies, poorly, “- and you being here is just an unwelcome distraction.”

              LYING. THAT NEVER WENT WELL. especially not with a werewolf, or anyone who could pick up on irregularities, such as a flutter of a heartbeat. ❛ ─ unwelcomed distraction, huh? ❜ logan inquires, while glancing down at the coffee cup he held in his hand. ❛ well, perhaps if you hadn’t been FOLLOWING me around, i would have just gone about my business and continued to ignore your existence. ❜ but as it turned out, that wasn’t the case, and logan had a bit of a ‘ thing, ’ about being followed ; previous experiences and all that.

       “ i’m— ” he can’t say that he’s fine. his father would see right through it, not to mention be able to smell the actual emotions on him. one of the irritating aspects of having a wolf parent: lying is near impossible. so instead of trying to lie or deflect, he settles with a sigh and slowly moving his body forward, placing the ice cream on the table as arms wrap around logan’s neck, burying his face in the other’s shoulder. here is where deacon will always be safest: in the arms of his parents. “ i’m sorry, dad. ” not that it’s his fault, but he hates seeing either of his fathers in pain. not to mention the bags under logan’s eyes and stubble clearly show how little of sleep he has been getting. “ i know you’re worried. but i’m awake now; maybe you should try and get some sleep. ”

              A PARENTS JOB WAS TO PROTECT THEIR CHILREN. and in this case, he’d failed, immeasurably. regardless of the circumstances, deacon had been injured ( badly ), and the wolf hadn’t been there to stop it. ❛ ─ you have nothing to be sorry for, deacon. ❜ he states, while resting his cheek against the top of his sons head, eyes falling closed ; one hand then moving to rub absently at the teens back. an attempt at SOOTHING his worries as well. ❛ i’m alright. worried? yes... and i’m not tired. ❜ that was a lie, but, nothing at present could make him deviate from that response.
