We are getting a head start on our costumes for Animethon this year! We have the first full test print of the headsets for the Wild Wild Pussycats. We bought the pattern from The Dangerous Ladies on-line store and used our dad’s 3D printer. It’s not even glued together but it looks pretty good so far. Please excuse the random wig, it’s all we had on hand to check the size!

Here are some more photos from Otafest. This was the first time we wore Fire Emblem to Otafest and was a lot of fun wearing them there!

Today I got the accessories for the horns I’m using for Sebastian cut out and formed. I also am remaking the bracers for Takumi because the original ones ended up not being very sturdy or comfortable. This time I’m making them out of 2 layers of craft foam. For the horn accessories and the bracers I filled them in and shaped them with foam clay. Another update I’m making for Takumi is that I repainted the armor flaps. They got highlighted and some shadows added. Today Sarah made some temporary patches for our Ouran jackets. We waited too long to order nice embroidered ones for Otafest lol.

So it’s con crunch time! We are not nearly as far along as we’d like but that’s due to our procrastination lol. These are our coats for Sebastian and Undertaker. They have been competed for awhile now we just forgot to post pictures. So after I sewed up the coat I shredded the sleeves and the bottom of the coat. I made an opening on the back to slide the wings into the harness. I added zippers so that I can velcro the wings to the harness arm straps. Sarah’s Undertaker coat is almost completed it just needs lace around the collar and cuffs.

The weather hasn’t been very good recently, so I haven’t been able to get much more done on my wings. This is what I’ve got done so far. The first picture is what they look like attached into the harness. The next ones are of my process of attaching the moving feathers. To get them to move with the wings I sewed fishing line through them. The fishing line pulls them up when the wings go up and gravity pulled them down when the wings go down. It took a few tries to get them to hang just right. I first tried by having them laying on the ground but it wasn’t working for me, they kept having weird. So I made a make shift stand for them with a ladder, I attached my wing harness to the ladder and used bungie cords (attached to the roof) to keep the wings up while I worked. In the end they ended up a bit larger then I intended lol.I’ve prepared my garage for spray painting and I am waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer before I start painting. That’s all for now! ~Carolyn~

I’ve made some good progress on Undertaker this weekend! I have made some straps for my legs that are held on by a strip of elastic up the back attached to a waistband. You won’t really see the back of my legs so it was the easiest way, and I wasn’t going to sew the straps to the pants. The straps sizes do need to be adjusted but I’m waiting  until the week before Otafest to make sure they fit perfectly.
The pleather leggings were purchased and the boots were found at a thrift store a looong time ago and we almost gave them away again but luckily I kept them. I think they’re great for Undertaker!
Also, I worked on my sash! I found this really pretty embroidered lace fabric and figured I would fold it in half, pleat it, and tack it together so it stays in place and doesn’t move around. I might add some flowers to it as well.

The tubing that is housing the wire is glued to the cup hooks. The wire is still free to move the wing up and down without catching on anything. After that I got the wing shapes cut out. They double as shaping the wing and housing all the moving parts.

Today I got both wing pieces attached together with a bolt through the wheel. I ended up needing to put a 3rd screw on each side, through the metal strapping to hold the wheel on better. I also ended up covering the wheel where it is against the pvc in epoxy, as well as the screws. I’ve got the harness finished today as well. I sewed more straps down that hold on the holders for the wings. After that I drenched it in epoxy to make sure that they are secured well and won’t fall off.

Today I got some more work done on Sebastian’s wings. I started by flattening the ends of the inside part of the wing. I did that so it could fit into the flattened pvc pipes that will attach onto the harness. After that was done I gave the wings a bend. Next I attached wheels to the outside part of the wing using metal strapping. The last picture is about what it will look like attached

Ciel’s hat is completed! I added a bunch of flowers, flower petals and a new ribbon. I kept the feathers from the hat because I think it fit quite well.

The wig for undertaker is coming along quite nicely. I made a Dutch braid and put a lot of flowers in to make it quite fancy. When braiding it, the wig thinned out quite a bit in the front so I sewed in some wefts to fill it in.
I also did some practice making scars and some eye makeup practice.

Today I made some good progress on the harness for my wings. The 1st picture is the arm straps that lead down to my legs. The 2nd is of the attached leg straps which have buckles for easy adjustments. The 3rd is of the waist strap attached, it also is buckled. The next 2 pictures are of what it looks like on. And the last are of the slots for the wings. I still need to attach them to the harness.

Today I glued fingernails to some gloves for Sebastian. I also finished off the hair tie for him as well. I’m slowly making progress through the accessories.

So I’ve actually started in on my Sebastian wig sooner then I thought I would lol. I ended up making myself a small ponytail clip for the bottom, at the back.
I made it by sewing wefts onto a piece of felt. I then glued it to a clip. I will be making a wrap to go around the ponytail to hide the top of the clip. I’ll also be adding a flower to it as the feature to tie all 3 of our outfits together.
