Memory Timeline Sylus

A timeline for Sylus’ 5 and 4-star memories. This is all based on my own analysis of each memory individually and in comparison to his other memories. I didn’t pull in anything from affection levels or events as I view those are more for the player’s benefit, whereas memories are more connected in the overall story and lore of the game (and that’s far too much content to swift through LOL). I also excluded Tomorrow’s Catch-22 as it’s a complete AU.

Ideally, I'd like to do something like this for all the boys, but that's a huge undertaking (and I don’t own all the limited content for every LI) so I started with my best boy for his birthday. I’ll do my best to update it or update it with additional posts the more content we get in game.

I had a lot of fun puzzle piecing this together and I’d love to discuss it! Feel free to let me know your thoughts, if you agree, disagree, how you see things, if you read things differently. What I love about not having an official timeline, is it makes any timeline very dynamic and open to interpretation. I didn’t do full reads on each memory because this post would be even more massive, but I’m considering doing that for some of Sylus’ content too, so let me know if you got any enjoyment from this!

Beyond Cloudfall

The far past of Philos; potentially, before the planetary system fizzled out the first time.

Before humans, it was ruled by dragons. Sylus is seemingly the last of his kind after being attacked by humans; he was the only one sparred.

He was sealed in the Abyss for 1,677 years.

Wanderers, protocores, starships and star maps all existed.

I kept this one brief because the contents of the myth make me ugly cry aren’t super relevant timeline wise aside from the fact I believe this is a past Philos. This is before the system is dormant (as seen from the Deepspace Tunnel on Earth) and so before the people of Earth are forced to inhabit Philos leading to kicking off Xavier’s time loop. All speculation, of course, as the Philos timeline is even harder to nail down than the timeline for the boys. But it was said that 300 million years ago Philos was a living planetary system (Under Deepspace 8-3) so it has to be then sometime.

🐉 Myth to 🐦‍⬛ Main Story

The timeline from when Sylus is brought back to life by MC's curse and Long-Awaited Revelry (as all memories after the myth would be after that) is real iffy. I listed off some key moments/points to help fill in the huge gap but considering he doesn't have as many anecdotes and time-travel is involved, it’s very hard to say for sure.

He spends time in the Time Space Prison; how or why or when is all unknown. If he was notorious before or only after is also unknown (I need his River Song origin story pls). It has to be a good time after his myth because the prison is never mentioned in his myth.

After he escapes, Philos is a functioning system inhabited by humans. He is public enemy number 1 being the most wanted man in Philos. It’s said it’s every Astral Enforcer’s dream to capture Sylus and bring him back to the Time Space Prison (Land of the Lost). This era of Philos is also unknown as Xavier has never mentioned such a prison in his Philos.

Once he gets the star map to lead him to the Eye of Aether (unsure if that’s MC or something related to her; it’s never really mentioned again that I recall), he lands in a place that never has sun, always shrouded in darkness (Land of the Lost). Since this is clearly N109, after going through the Deepspace Tunnel, he ends up on Earth after the Chronolift Catastrophe in 2034.

After the dispute of 2036, he and Onychinus are the top of the food chain in N109 (Elysium).

In 2046, Luke and Kieran escape from Ever and decide to see if they can take on the ruthless leader of Onychinus (Mischief). Sometime in that same year, the Twins are with Sylus at the scene of the crime with the Ever researcher in Linkon (Under Deepspace 7-1) as the account said there where three sets of footsteps and we know from Mischief that before the Twins, Sylus was always alone.

Sometime after that in 2046 to 2048, Sylus was MIA. A lot of the chatter in the N109 Zone while MC was there was people wondering is he was even still alive since he had been gone for so long (Long-Awaited Revelry). Presumedly, him rescuing MC from Sherman’s people was the first time he was seen in a while; where he was or what he was doing is unknown.

Long-Awaited Revelry introduces his and MC’s dynamic, hints of their past, reintroduces him as a morally grey character instead of the cold-blooded villain, and sets up their energy linkage.

No Defense Zone

No references to other memories (that I noticed).

MC is competitive and on edge; considering in EN she calls him a prick lol I did not get the playful banter vibe, this was she was truly annoyed banter.

One of the early instances of her dreaming of him (and him possibly knowing).

Immobilized

References their energy linkage which was introduced in the main story.

She does not want to be stuck to him; she's annoyed and anxious that her coworkers will find out.

She’s still affected by their first meeting in the main story when she gets flashbacks and has to push him away.

She's softened a little towards the end, not wanting him to get caught by the Association.

I couldn’t decide which one came first. Ultimately I decided No Defense Zone was first because of how defensive she is. I know some put Immobilized first because she seemingly doesn’t have his number, but to me, the fact he told her it would ring as unknown made me think she did have his number, he was just using a burner; otherwise, he wouldn't have needed to say. I’ve also seen No Defense Zone put way lower because she’s so bold with him. To me though, that boldness comes from her not wanting to deal with his antics; it’s dismissive and annoyed not playful and flirty.

Continuous Symphony

She is very resistant to him helping her while she’s injured.

MC admits she doesn't feel at ease (when she asks him to explain their history, otherwise she'll never feel at ease).

She states she dreamed of him again, meaning a memory with a dream was to come before (No Defense Zone).

He tells her she can come to Onychinus whenever she wants, she just has to say so.

No Way Out

He is not blocked on Moments as he found her location through a post.

MC is snarky with him but she helps him when she notices he's injured, maybe to return the favor from Continuous Symphony. In doing so, she learns she doesn’t like seeing him in pain.

She discovers he can't always heal immediately; he can be in pain, even if it won't kill him.

Also learns about his safe houses, which she'll use a variety of in the future.

He says she's welcome to his world, but it’s her choice to step over that line. In all these memories, he’s come to her or initiated the meeting.

Awaiting

MC uses one of his safe houses (she seemingly found out about them in No Way Out) but is surprised when he shows up.

Again, is resistant to him helping her but she relents, maybe because also in No Way Out she knows he can be hurt.

Awaiting was very hard to place because there is so little to go off of. Here just ended up making the most sense to me but it could be anywhere in their early timeline

Razor's Grip

Sylus is blocked on Moments (but Luke and Kieran aren't). She probably blocked him after No Way Out.

MC shows concern when he makes her leave with the Twins, knowing he can be hurt (No Way Out) but is quickly back to being snarky with the Twins after.

While he’s okay letting her in the room into his world, he keeps her out of the crossfire.

The first time she learns he has a private jet.

Melodic Weave

The first appearance of Skye, fruit vendor.

She's mostly dismissive of him and suspicious of why he's there in the first place. She wants him to leave, and tries to get him to leave, but is less harsh than she has been with him.

Another one that isn't as clear to me. I put it here because she's clearly not ready for him to be all in her personal life but also isn't as aggressive to him as she had been; they’re starting to find their banter.

The first time she finds out he's not actually good at everything.

Razor's Dance

Asks if he needs her to be his partner again (Razor’s Grip).

MC acts guarded and even says things she doesn't mean to cover her feelings from even herself.

Every memory up until this point, he's initiated the meeting. I did that because the whole reason she starts to panic is (aside from the explosion), she doesn’t hear from him and she's used to him reaching out. Now he’s just gone and it was so easy (kickstarting her fear of him leaving without a trace).

The first turning point in their relationship which opens her up to being the one to reach out to him first.

Unrelated to the timeline but I can't resist some analysis, I often wonder what made him call her. If he wanted to he could have easily seen her and never allowed her to see him. He would have, if she didn't want him around her. So what made him call her? I wonder if it was him telling himself it was just to say goodbye or if he made a deal with himself that he’d say something only if he happened to run into her. Maybe for once, he just wanted fate to be kind.

Captivating Moment

MC is seemingly willingly staying at his base, and wanting to be around him which is why I placed it after Razor’s Dance. She even playfully recounts her first time at his base by pointing out where his bedroom is and where her guest bedroom is.

She's asking him a favor, to have a ride in his jet (that she learned about in Razor’s Grip).

When he refuses at first, she makes the comment that he never lets her into his life; this is why all previous memories I chose involve him not letting her too far in (No Way Out: he won't tell her how he got injured; Razor’s Grip: sends her out of the room with the Twins; Immobilized & Melodic Weave: won’t tell her why he’s there in the first place).

Comfortable enough to sneak up and poke him in the side. To me it shows she's learning the man who scared her at the beginning is not all he is (as in you don't usually poke someone who is seemingly unaware of your presence if you think their first reaction is violence, poking a sleeping bear and all).

MC learns he takes care of stray cats (the whole scene is cute, but especially when she thinks he'll be upset he was scratched, but instead immediately buys all the tuna). Also that he likes plants and especially the spring blossoms.

When he holds her as they fall off the building, it’s the first time she relates any sort of feelings of safety with being around Sylus.

The first time he uses the phrase, Action speak louder than words.

This set clearly takes place in spring, and while I tried to account for the seasons in this timeline, I’m unsure how well they correlate. I chose to prioritize the content and development.

Wild Gaze

She came to him for advice on how to be a good leader for her undercover mission.

They’re finding their groove with their teasing banter as it’s less aggressive and more playful.

MC doesn’t shy away from his physical touch.

I placed it here based on I felt like she'd be more comfortable with this part of his life after she experienced it through Captivating Moment. It could come before, but it just made sense to me here.

Tender Curve

She’s aware of his safe houses (No Way Out & Awaiting).

She’s a little more respectful than in Awaiting when she just went in, here she waits outside; maybe a sign she respects him and his spaces a little more.

MC is much more playful with him and not afraid to touch him by placing colorful bandaids on his face. She also doesn't flinch when he uses his Evol to steady her.

Another enigma memory as MC makes no reference to the cats in Captivating Moment but no reference in Captivating Moment was made to this one either. I put it after because MC is more playful and explanatory trying to teach him how to approach cats than she was in Captivating Moment.

Nightplumes

She knows the way to his base on her own.

When she feels like he's not going to do it she mentions they've resonated plenty and had near death experiences together (I have to imagine the first time they resonate is in Sylus’ story branch because we go from they can’t to they can with zero fanfare; feels odd when it was such a main point in the story. Near death experiences include No Way Out, Razor’s Grip, Captivating Moment).

While she still doesn't think her words could hurt him (when she calls him the ruthless leader of Onychinus and he feels some sort of sad way about that), she starts to learn a little more about his depth towards the end.

Going into this one, l swore it would be higher, at least before Captivating Moment. However, watching it in the context of the others, it had to be lower. Not only can they resonate now, but she knows the way to his base on her own whereas Captivating Moment she had only been there once maybe twice before.

Within Reach

She dreams of him again (No Defense Zone & Continuous Melody) but this time it makes her worried for him.

MC says she enjoys their banter so she stays on the phone with him.

Even though she didn't intend to invite him to the event, she changes her mind about just going through the motions and takes it seriously. She warns him there will be high ranking Association members so they shouldn’t be too flashy; a far cry from Melodic Weave.

Oh, he’s making her flustered; they’re flirty now ;3

Lost Oasis

The season gap here can be explained in that she says she hasn't seen him in awhile.

He references Action speak louder than words (Captivating Moment).

She’s surprised by his physical touch but like in Within Reach she doesn't shy away and instead escalates it on him.

They’re both comfortable enough to share a blanket and hammock later on that night.

MC treats him very softly, being gentle about wondering what he was like as a child and the scars he doesn’t show.

I still have this one fairly early and that's mainly because I feel when they left the bathroom, he dumped her on the bed with dry clothes for her to change into. I don't think any thing sexual actually happened. They are just starting to reach the same wavelengths here; he might like to tease her, and see her flustered, but he’s not the type to rush into anything with her. I think it stopped at the teasing.

Grasslands Romance

Another big season jump, but I reasoned that they mention multiple times they've been busy with work.

She wonders if Sylus likes autumn leaves as much as he likes spring blossoms (Captivating Moment).

MC gets jealous of the other girls fawning over him.

She’s a little nervous sharing the bed with him but relaxes (an escalation from Lost Oasis where they shared the blanket and hammock but seemingly not overnight).

They both find ways to express their romantic feelings for each other.

They still get the energy linkage and don’t now how to dismiss it, but it doesn't bother MC anymore as she still wants to go out in public with him even after he gives her a way out.

The energy linkage could throw a wrench in this one. If they no longer get it because they can resonate, that would place this before Nightplumes. I didn’t go that route because 1. We have no idea what causes the linkage; it connects to their Evols, and they can control it later on, but the cause is unknown. 2. I can’t imagine either of them acting the way they do in Nightplumes after how close they are here.

Searing Touch

Both are very playful. She's not mad he hacked her comms or is helping her. In fact, she calls him Boss-man and teases his bad luck, with many examples.

Instead of finding her after she’s hurt (Continuous Symphony & Awaiting), he's nearby to protect her from harm; maybe because he knows she's more willing to accept his help now.

They’re both flirty, and though she seems mean at times to some, unlike No Defense Zone, this is their banter. She’s comfortable with him; she feels more on even ground with him to tease like this.

Sylus is more straight forward too (maybe from Grassland Romance about being direct) telling her why he was there. When he asks if that's what she wanted to hear, she goes yep! So maybe her effort to be direct.

This one was tricky. They clearly are so much more comfortable with each other. What threw me was her commenting mentally about his chest since in this timeline she's seen and touched him shirtless before. Maybe it was the first time she allowed herself the chance to appreciate it LOL so I’m not as solid on this placement.

Greedy Heart

A flashback to when her and Sylus’ relationship was improving.

Their banter is very typical, meaning they're comfortable with each other.

She’s comfortable meandering around his space.

MC gets a little irritated that he won't just say he wants her to stay.

She decides she hates the thought of her traces being wiped from his homes, his space so she marks her territory, leaving the blocks for him to remember she was there and in his life.

The worst one to place. I find this to be the most contradictory (though could be a translation thing). She states it’s when their relationship was getting better (Razor’s Dance or Nightplumes even is how I’d read that) but she is so bold here. I could not see her being this bold before Grassland Romance.

Radiant Brilliance

MC is throwing hands on the internet defending Sylus from trolls.

She goes to a temple the get him good fortune (which fails miserably) and gets him a good luck charm.

She’s more worried about him losing than he is; I don’t think her heart can handle the thought of him sad or hurt.

He kisses her on the head.

Good Cat Code

Their banter in this memory is top tier; they're hilarious.

They both comfortable with physical touch and playing off each other as they work undercover.

He’s very vocal about not wanting to be given to another woman. He wants her to be jealous.

She's one track mind on the mission but once he's gone, she starts to get nervous that their mark would put hands on him.

This one is fairly neutral. I think it plays off their relationship status that currently is not dating but know the nature of each other's feelings so they just keep walking that line. It could be earlier, I just defaulted to release order if I wasn’t sure.

Night of Secrecy

They can control their energy linkage, summoning it and dismissing it (unlike Grassland Romance).

When inquiring about where he's leaving to, she asks if it’s like Tulla Island (Razor’s Dance).

The first time in her home (he teases her about how small it is and she says she's skipping the tour).

Its the first time she actually goes behind his back to insert herself in his business because the alternative is far worse to her.

Their first time being intimate.

I know there is a lot of discourse if this comes before or after Magnum Opus. I’ll go into it more on that memory but to me, it makes sense to be before. Even that being their first kiss makes sense. They have always had so much tension, having a kiss and stopping I don’t think would’ve happened; it was always bound to end up physical at first touch.

Ordinary Traces

Linkon New Year so this has a set time and place.

She invites him to a very public place; her concerns about being in public with him are long gone.

She wants to buy him another good luck charm (Radiant Brilliance).

When he picks out their bracelets, the shopkeeper notes it’s a match predestined.

They can control their energy linkage, summoning it and dismissing it (Night of Secrecy).

Magnum Opus

He asks her to go to a temple for blessings on their match predestined (Ordinary Traces).

He’s familiar with her home, enough to know where everything is except her closet. He notes teasingly he’d love to sleep on her couch or floor over his nice comfortable bed. Outside of Night of Secrecy, it doesn’t seem like he’s stayed the night at her place.

She asks if he’s marking his territory like she did with the Pile It Up blocks (Greedy Heart).

In response to MC, he teases, Oh, so we’re dating now?

I believe this comes after Night of Secrecy. MC distinctly notes that he knows the placement of items in her kitchen where in Night of Secrecy it was clearly his first time there. The reason why he didn’t know where her closet was is he probably hadn’t gone in her room or stayed the night since then. She joked at one point that he over stayed his welcome last time the sun went down meaning he probably always leaves at the end of the day. I also know some didn't like the thought of them sleeping together before officially being in a relationship. To each their own, but them not labeling what it is they have doesn’t mean they weren’t in a relationship. He teased because it was probably the first time she brought up a label, and we know Sylus doesn’t do or assume anything until she brings it up first. This whole memory was them both learning that they don't need excuses to see each other; they can just say I want you here and it’s okay. So I imagine they’ll be in each others spaces a lot more in the future.

Chaotic Velocity

She goes to his place specifically because she missed him, not needing another reason (Magnum Opus).

He wants her mark on his things, letting her do whatever she pleased with her side of the bike (playing off Greedy Heart and Magnum Opus).

Neither of them made any comment or refuted her being called his girlfriend, instead she was more offended they didn’t like the crow symbol.

At the end, he also goes to her for no reason aside for going for a ride, but none of the long list of things he asked in Magnum Opus.

Where Hearts Live

Spring as his birthday is in April.

Acknowledged as a date (a formal one since he kept checking how he looked in the mirror and checking the time like a nervous cutie).

Honestly, not many time markers aside from his birthday date, so this could be any time after Magnum Opus.

Approaching Dusk

She's waiting for him to come home at his place.

She admits she was worried he didn’t miss her as much as she missed him.

Not much context here. It could be before Magnum Opus as I doubt Night of Secrecy was a one time thing. I put it here because we’ve seen her go to him plenty, but not so much her staying in his place when he isn’t home. Also she admits to missing him and she hasn’t really done that before (so openly) so it’s probably a little into their relationship.
