----who was he? shouldn’t he be the one asking her that question? skepticism clawed at him, but maybe that was just the ears. he’d never liked cats, cat.. people included. not that he’d ever met one until now. slowly, he lifted a brow and gestured to her ears, a look of genuine curiosity lighting up his face. being a supernatural being himself he wasn’t frightened or wary of her by any means, but her scent was a little distasteful to him so he took a small step back.

—-and just like that his faith in humanity was yet again extinguished. with an irritated scowl he reached over and stuck the leaf right back into his hair, eyes narrowed in a how dare you sort of way. to put icing on the cake ( and his maturity back about twenty years ) he stuck his tongue out, returning to his calm facade milli-seconds later, just in case anyone else happened to be watching this whole ordeal.

----well that was certainly unexpected. most strangers would have shoved him away or simply asked him to leave, but no. this person was different. kind. it warmed him to his very soul the way he placed his strong ( comforting ) arm around him, exposing himself to the weather just so he could stay dry. this was one of those times he wished he had a voice. he wanted to thank him, so he did the only thing he could think of, the only thing he knew to do-- he leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to the man’s cheek, a small, tentative smile on his face as he pulled back and returned his gaze to the concrete below.

----oh, he was mad alright. slowly and carefully he extracted himself from the other, a soft huff leaving his lips in the form of a white cloud quickly evaporating into the air. there was moment of staring as he tried to decide whether or not he should let this unpleasant interaction continue, and finally   ( begrudgingly ) he pulled his cellphone out of his pocket and began to type. it only took him a few seconds, and his eyes scanned the short message before he turned and offered the device to the stranger, eyes narrowed in slight warning. not that it seemed like this man would steal his phone, but you could never be too sure as he saw it. the screen read: ‘ i fell on you. if anything you should be asking yourself that question. did i hurt you? ’

----it wasn’t often that strangers spoke to him, so he was a little startled by the sudden inquiry, lips parting in silent surprise before he turned back to the menu. a million thoughts raced through his mind as he tried to decide the best way to reply to this. slowly, almost shyly, he shook his head, pointing first to the picture of the mocha, then to the caramel macchiato a little ways down. they both sounded ( and looked ) so good that he just couldn’t decide.

----it was late. the moon ( bright and full ) rose high in the sky, seemingly setting everything aglow. the wolf inside of him longed to come out and bask in it, but he knew better. this was a much too populated area, and he didn’t need hunters and/or townspeople coming out to chase him away. the sweet scent of pine filled his nostrils as he neared the forest, sensitive ears picking up the sound of footsteps getting closer to him. he paused in his descent to the forest, twisting to face the stranger with an impassive expression.

----generally in a situation like this he would leave the stranger to fend for themselves. being the loner he was, he didn’t like any unnecessary human interaction. but considering that it had finally stopped raining && the sun was shining brightly in the sky, he was in a pretty descent mood && willing to help a guy out. with a slight ( almost ) smile, he reached out and plucked a leaf from the hair of the guy in front of him, holding it out to him with an expression only to be described as pleased with himself.

----indecisiveness would perhaps be his downfall && it crossed his mind that that downfall might be sooner than later, considering the way the barista was glaring at him right now. not that it mattered much to him, though. it was her job to wait on him. the person in line behind him, however, not so much. sure, he was a dick, but not that much of a dick. with a heavy sigh he stepped away from the counter && gestured for the man to go ahead of him, quickly turning his attention back to the menu overhead. mocha or caramel macchiato, that is the question. hamlet just didn’t know what choices were the truly important ones.

----fucking hell. rain was never something he’d particularly enjoyed, but it was ten thousand times more unpleasant when there was no cover from the evil ( as he saw them at least ) little droplets. that was around the time someone passed by holding a large enough umbrella. it was now or never. as inconspicuously as possible ( which wasn’t very considering the situation ) he fell into step with the stranger, sticking close enough to touch arms with them as he tried to keep himself as dry as possible underneath their umbrella.

----the snow was foreign to him. a heavy blanket of it settled across the ground, && he watched as small snowflakes fluttered from the light clouds above, sticking to trees && unsuspecting passerby. things were quiet for the most part, only a few people out and about in the cold weather. a little snow wasn’t going to keep him from the outdoors though, && stiff fingers slowly found their way inside of his coat pockets, a cloud of frosty breath puffing out in front of him. he’d just about decided it was time to leave the park when someone came sliding down the sidewalk beside him. not something you see everyday, that was for sure. he turned to leave them to fend for themselves, his foot sliding on the slick concrete ( just as his luck would have it ) && sending him toppling into them.
