I love crocheting because it's easy to learn the basics even self taught, incredibly relaxing, you can take it with you anywhere and it's rewarding to see what you are making slowly take shape.

But then you dig deeper and there's like ... Dozens of things that literally NO ONE will tell you and everyone just kinda assumes you are supposed to do it and the pattern will NOT mention that this thing exists in any shape or form.

I had done some three completed amigurumi before discovering that you are supposed to turn your work around, so those three are technically inside out. They still look fine, it's just a slight cosmetic change, but it still bugs me, especially because some patterns are marketed as beginner friendly.

Same thing for yarn under vs yarn over. My stitches no matter how tight looked nothing like the cute perfectly straight "squares" that came out in the pattern, and that confused me for the longest time wondering what I was doing wrong. Well turns out I was wrapping the yarn around the hook the usual way but for amigurumi noooo you have to wrap it the other way!!

Let's see how many years pass before I discover the next Secret Art of Amigurumi.
