"Is that it? In the tube there?" "The overseer's experiment? Yes, that's it. Don't get too close; it's recovering from some recent tests the overseer was running on it." "Hard to believe he grew it in a vat. Is it sentient?" "Sapient even. Technically, I suppose it is the overseer's offspring. It does use his genetic material." "As long as it's obedient, I suppose." "Oh, it will be. The overseer has seen to that..."
Rhenn never realized how little the other researchers at the Applied Maginetics lab saw him as a person. To them, he was just a creation. A thing to be ogled and tested for its usefulness.
The realization would come later, but it was a hard lesson learned...

Some doodles of Mórg’s Mesmer ‘Charr disguise’, the excellently “nobody-will-ever-guess-this” Morgan Glimmerclaw!
He makes himself very tall, to the chagrin of the tall people in his life.

Koura is usually deployed as an undercover agent for some of the less-than-reputable organizations in Tyria. Charming their way into gathering intel for the Astral Ward is not a skill that the vast majority of those mages possess.

Nevertheless, perhaps it is the time spent with so many underhanded sorts, but Koura has a sort of cold manner of joking that can sometimes rub fellow Astral Ward members the wrong way...

Annie may deal in potions and hexes, but she finds a great comfort in what she does and the service that she provides to people. To speak with those who have passed on one final time, or to learn the secrets held tight in the quiet lips of the deceased, they all bring her a feeling of oneness with her community.

Necromancy is not for the faint of heart. But perhaps some of the better scholars of the dead have spent their time learning the ways of the living as well.

Felix has returned to a life as a solitary fisherman. After getting caught trying to steal an expensive bottle of gourmet sesame oil, he was knocked unconscious and left to fend for himself on an island off of Bloodtide Coast. Thus ended his brief tenure as a pirate.

But, as they say, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

Alsacius was sleeping in stasis when Scarlet failed to accelerate her experiments, resulting in a monumental decline in her power. The shockwave rended their consciousness from its shattered components into a single being, crashing together in a magical surge. They hadn't been awake in their own body for so long. This body could no longer speak, and flames danced along their every step. What were they supposed to do now that they were free..? The trick played on them had finally come to its conclusion, and yet they had spent the entire time without the capacity to imagine anything-- let alone this.

In secret, they escaped Scarlet Drake headquarters. From transmorphing into a cloud of spark and ash to sprouting insectile wings of flame, the fire magic came back as it was needed. Perhaps this new world would have a place for a mage of their unique abilities... or maybe perhaps there was more to the world than harnessing powerful magic. Either way, for the first time in a long time, it was up to them to decide their own course, for better or for worse.

Novallyx dwells in darkness.

A facet, clinging to two worlds and yet it has never known a home. Novallyx spends entire weeks sometimes standing motionless as the world goes on. It feels... hardly. But what is this? A familiar twinge of ... kinship. Why does it burn...?
"True power. The control over all waking beings..."
These bizarre sentiments feel uncomfortable in the core of its frame. Like serpents they writhe. A vision. Something rises tall in the distance, a quiet mountain among the weeds. It shakes free from this sight. Novallyx fears we are already in the shadow of their wake. It fears we will need... a blade. A blade to fight against the darkness itself.

Kudzu began to give up hunting for the Bloodstone Mage, Scarlet. Having chased her from the edge of the Mists into the outer realms of their own domain, all the way to this strange land-- this Tyria-- they worried for their kingdom. And as the time went on, they became increasingly homesick as well. What were Elenise and Kalypso weaving for the Falling Skies festival this year? They longed to see the stories of the ancients playing before the eyes of the Dragon Courts in endless spools of shining thread in every color in creation. Suddenly, a sensation.

All too familiar. Just as there had come a time a couple years ago, when the Thunder Dragon felt the massive well of power that was Scarlet's own suddenly vanish with hardly a trace, now they felt it return. Rage... Chaos... Destruction... Control... Her sentiments rippled from the other side of Tyria sending an unnatural pulse through their body. After recovering from the sense of nausea, Kudzu began to head towards the eye of the storm.

Lyrus Latranis (he/him) Rank: Champion

Lyrus Latranis was a bandit like many other orphans from Divinity's Reach. He was a highwayman, brandishing daggers at nobles for purses of coins and anything shiny.
------------------------
It was a rainy evening in the Reach, and the sounds of laughter and discussion usually filling the streets were reduced to those streaming out of bar doors as they swung upon and shut. The heavy rain drowned out everything else.
Lyrus sliced the scholar's cheek, flinging a thin stream of blood from the tip of his blade to the alley floor. "Give me what's in the bag, and I won't have to do that to those pretty, pretty eyes of yours. Now!" The bandit drove his knee into the Priory courier's diaphragm before swinging their limp body to the floor. From there, he simply bent down and picked up the scholar's pack and set off with a steady pace. Had he heard his victim's pleas over the heavy rain has he ran off, he would've ignored them anyways. Nevertheless, his mistakes became all too clear when he held the strange dagger up to the light for examination.

The lamplights on the street began to quiver and rattle in their glass shells, before shattering out and absorbing themselves into the strange dagger. A moment later, the edges began to crackle and crumble into a swirling vortex of glowing ash, as Lyrus was doused in a golden flame.

When the awoke, he Lyrus that he had been asleep for 7 months. The Priory scholar recovered his body in a scorch mark surrounded by a cloud of steam, and had been caring for him ever since at Priory headquarters. In exchange for a pardon for his crimes, as well as continued medical assistance, Lyrus has agreed to help the Priory by allowing them to study the way the ancient curse has affected his body, and his newfound affinity for fire magic.
