I’m currently reading the second book in the Zodiac Academy. I know Tory’s main love interest is Darius but does anyone else ship her with Caleb too?? I love their interactions and dynamic. I really want them to be at least good friends. Do they even have a ship name?

“I will not continue to watch you make yourself miserable,” said Matthew. “There is no point to it — if you will never see reason or good sense —”

“Because you’re a bastion of reason and good sense?” James snapped. He knew he had a temper, just like his father; his anger spilled past everything else now, tasting of copper and fury. “Matthew you are drunk. For all I know, you mean nothing you are saying right now.”

“I mean all of it,” Matthew protested. “In vino veritas—”

“Don’t you quote Latin at me,” said James. “Even if you were sober, which would be a fine chance, you’ve never taken love seriously enough to lecture me about this. Your passions have been a series of dalliances and ill-conceived attachments. Look at me and tell me there is someone you love more than that bottle in your hand.”

Matthew had gone very white. James realized with a distant dismay that he had broken a pact between them, unspoken, that he would not speak to Matthew about his drinking. That if it remained unmentioned, it might vanish.

Matthew turned then, raising his arm — James stepped forward but Matthew had already violently slammed the bottle against the brick wall. Glass sprayed in all directions; Matthew flinched back. A flying bit of of glass had scratched his face, just beneath his eye.

Paris is a city of wonders, my favorite in the world. I know you have been there, but you have not been there with me.

The narrative that ‘Matthew ran off with Cordelia’ is pissing me off. He was going to go to Paris whether or not she went. It was basically her idea to go with him- he didn’t force the trip on her. She has free will.

Also, it’s really clear that the trip is 100% platonic in nature. They’re staying in seperate rooms and he has clearly said that he’s going as her friend rather than someone who loves her romantically. The cherry on top of all this is that he is doing something kind for her. She’s miserable at home (even though that isn’t James’ fault, but they don’t know that). She needs to get away. What better way to do that than to go to Paris with her best friend, the only person in the series who she’s been completely honest with and who has been completely honest with her in return?

tl;dr Fandom stop villainizing Matthew when he does something kind, because of the kind thing that he did, challenge

My two favorite characters from the entire shadowhunter chronicles are Jem Carstairs and Matthew Fairchild and Cassie never writes from their pov in TID and TLH. We even get scenes from minor characters’ perspective but never Matthew or Jem which is so disappointing.

THIS IS GIVING ME HOPE

After thinking it over I do kind of think Cordelia and Matthew will be endgame - which hurts my heart because James will be so upset and it’s not his fault and just aaaa, but like his quote about the person who broke your heart not often being the one able to mend it, Cassandra saying that this was a love triangle unlike any she’d written before, and her being like in an ask “what happens when someone Matthew loves loves him back, well we’ll have to see” or something along those lines, it all seems a little sus👀

Even slowed down by the London traffic, the little car felt wildly fast; it was able to nip in and out of spaces that a carriage would never have been able to navigate. Feeling somewhat windblown, Cordelia tied her hat down more firmly with her scarf as they zipped between two horse-buses and a milk cart and narrowly missed swerving onto the pavement. Several workmen by the side of the road cheered.

“Apologies!” yelled Matthew with a grin, spinning the wheel deftly to the right and shooting across another junction.

Cordelia eyed him severely. “Do you actually know where we’re going?”

are you already working on chain of thorns? do you have outlines of an outcome you want for tlh yet? i am so excited for chain of iron and fairstairs already!!

My my, Fairstairs. I sense a fight brewing. *hides in bunker* I do know how TLH ends, and I have an outline for Chain of Thorns even though currently I’m working on Sword Catcher. I tend to always outline trilogies before they’re started — I like to know where I’m headed!
