Wegovy is proving to help people lose weight, which helps with diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. That is great!
The problem is that the drug is very expensive - $1350/mo.
How many people do you know who would benefit from losing weight?
Do you think employers (via the group health plan) or tax payers (via Medicare/Medicaid) should pay $1350 per month for Wegovy to help people lose weight?

This is an interesting article about Prescription Benefit Managers(PBM) and the fight to limit their power.
We offer plans that allow you to choose your own PBM and negotiate exactly what drugs will be covered and whether RX rebates will go to your company or the employees.
You don’t have to be “at the mercy of the PBM”. You can hire a PBM that is on you and your employee’s side.

Since the Covid outbreak early 2020, States stopped verifying Medicaid eligibility. Starting as early as April (June for WA State) the states will resume determining who is and is not eligible for Medicaid. This will lead to a lot more (estimated at 18 million) employees needing to enroll on their group medical plan or find other coverage. Maddock & Associates is prepared to help our client’s employees who are losing Medicaid make the transition to private coverage. https://www.beckerspayer.com/payer/when-each-state-will-begin-terminating-medicaid-coverage.html

These RX price increase may be the start of another hidden Medicare tax.
IE – When Medicare reimburses at under market rates, the providers increase rates on everyone else to make up for it. This has been happening with medical procedure prices for years, and it looks like it will now be happening for RX prices.

I was honored to be a part of the Regence Blue Shield broker advisory council.
We learned a lot about upcoming medical insurance trends and were able to provide feedback from our clients.
I was impressed with Regence’s focus on improving the health of all of their members.

This is a good article that summarizes States laws regarding abortion and the many regulations to consider when evaluating how your employee benefit plans should handle abortion and related expenses for members who reside in states with significant abortion restrictions.
