Ragdolls really can have a lot of symbolism

i've posted about this before ; ragatha's avatar gives off the vibes of a Toy that's been thrown around before being discarded . like i do not get the vibes of a loving owner that's attached to their old doll - i get the vibes of a reckless owner who does not care if their doll was dirtied or damaged in any other way , as long as they can still Fix It Up .

now with the facts in place , it's like . yep . imagine being pushed around your entire life , being pressured to do things you don't want to do , being forced to survive in a toxic environment . and then you become a Ragdoll , a shabby , fragile toy . you would be so terribly easy to pick up , and it's just as easier to push you to the ground . you're a doll . something to play with . why does its feelings matter ? it's meant to dance for you ! and it Doesn't Complain . can you tell by the near-permanent smile sewn onto its face ?

and that's not even getting into the levels of irony regarding how ragdolls are a toy that's meant to be coddled and held . this is having the scars of your trauma deeply etched onto your body and being paraded around everytime you walk . fucking maddening .

If I had a nickel for every time a female character had an abusive mother who forced them into a role of being agreeable and putting others above their own needs that was metaphorically compared to being a doll due to lack of personal identity in some way I would have two nickels which isn't a lot but isn't it odd that it happened twice in one summer?

oh interesting... this feels like it could be a scene from the show?

so, on first viewing of episode 5, it kinda seemed to me that whenever ragatha mentioned jax's friend (currently being called ribbit by the fandom?), he would instantly just... get completely silent, and get an almost vacant look in his eyes, and that sort of read to me like dissociation. so, i have this small headcanon that he sometimes ends up in the hallway with ribbit's door, and just kinda... sits there

I'm kind of obsessed with this moment because like

Jax has been harassing Ragatha all day, actively trying to drive a wedge between her and Pomni, and just generally trying to break down her mask of positivity for no other reason than his own amusement.

But she still apologizes to him because she sees what's really behind his behavior. Because she knows she upset him and genuinely regrets it. Because even after everything he's put her through, she still cares about him.

And he's only realizing it now that it's far too late to change course.

Please forgive my self indulgence for a moment and listen to my headcanon!!

I really like the idea that Jax likes to provoke Ragatha on purpose, because he feels like her anger is the only thing where he can tell she is being 100% genuine.

When Jax asked for an apology here, he was obviously just teasing her, and if Ragatha had apologized for blowing up on him, it's obvious she wouldn't have meant it. Jax knows that Ragatha isn't sorry for that. However Ragatha didn't apologize for that. She apologized for bringing up "that thing earlier", as in, for bringing up Ribbit. That apology was definitely genuine, else Ragatha wouldn't have apologized for that, since it's already been some time since the incident. If she was going to give a disingenuous apology, it wouldn't have been for that.

And I think Jax realized it too. That Ragatha was being genuine here, and that's why he reacted like that. I hope we get to see the two of them talk it out.

I really love Ragatha and I want her happy, genuinely happy :)
