blooooooobla
I’ve been a sleepy bunny this weekend which I think can equate to the fact we are so close to finishing (due to printers this Wednesday) and I just feel like my body and mind is starting to quit on me. I’m trying to calm the feeling that I hate what I’ve made lol and trying to stop looking at refs and just focus on doing what I want.
The psycho way I stay organized

Package bois sitting in the corner of my room lol. I ordered them to package my book in to help protect the white cover with the UV spot treatment + I like the idea of a reflective surface that stares back at you even before you interact with my book. I would also love to include a poster that could possibly wrap around the book, but I probably dont have time for that

hey
I thought that April 12 was next week so i was literally flipping out and now i realize i have this weekend so tg tg tg tg
freelancing this week but then next week i don’t think i have to which is very nice of my lovely boss :) <3
Obviously now it’s getting to it though. Found a printer through my lovely Armour contact and she’s been helpful. Sent the cover in yesterday to have the white type UV spot printed on white so its hard to see yet can always be felt, which I love and think really sums up the idea of surveillance. I also plan to get a book flap printed with blurred images on translucent paper to help protect the book. I also ordered packaging materials which should get here by the end of the week. floop de floop
Other than that, I’m just iterating heavy. Plan to print and bind another version tonight just 2 see

things to grind out/watch

1. TOC vs. Title pages per section
2. How to increase the language of a cohesive timeline of watching. I’ve been adding some graphics aka lines to sort of pull on that language of cohesion.
3. Playing with the pacing of full bleed spreads
4. Playing with gradients/if they stay, where they appear
5. Am I going to create an icon system? I wanted to, with an eye shape, viewfinder, hollow lens, then filled in lens.
6. I really enjoy books that pull me out of the constant narrative with spreads with tidbits of information (and they’re really fun to make). I’m not sure of how much of that I can do, but below are two examples.
7. Cover stuff

sorry for fooling u
Hey it’s been a minute. I haven’t posted since the week before spring break, where we had to have a full capstone draft. I will share that in a second, but here are just like some stuff/thoughts.
Capstone is getting close to being over, and at this point, instead of worrying what I spent time on and what I didn’t, it’s just time to get it together and crank the bitch out. Since we had to have a whole full draft last class, it feels good to be at the point where I can focus on pushing and pulling the visual language I have already created. There are still some copy things to fix (adding interviews, removing bullshit articles, adding articles, etc.), but I think tonight I’ll focus on that. Other things:
1. I was originally going to do a book cloth blind embossed cover, but now I don’t really know. I don’t know if that fits the vibe of my book, so I think I’ll talk to my professors about that. For some reason I’ve transitioned to seeing interesting image treatment on the cover.
2. I was able to chat with the lovely and talented Barney McCann during spring break, and he agreed to make me custom titles with his typeface Obsolete, so I feel like I will use some capacity of that.
3. I wanted to order paper when I got back to school but its like become this nightmare so I’m going to ask for help tomorrow

other things
a few other things:
1. Theres a designer who makes really cool digital type, and I reached out to him, and not only did he get back to me and was super nice, he offered to chat at length as well as make a custom title or other visual asset for my capstone. Zoo wee mama!
2. In the struggle of me trying to find how the fuck I can make something interesting that is digital but not like MonOSpaCE or classic image manipulation, I’ve actually had a few revelations. One of which is trying to use Typophoto, which is a technique where you print type on a glass or plastic and show its shadow on something else. I love it as an ethereal, ghost behind the wall idea that surveillance has, so I think that could be great. zoo wee mama
attached are some stuff i like
