Here’s a poor quality video from the days before high-definition to commemorate my sadness at the death of Scott Weiland. 

STP was the first concert I attended, at age 11, with my cool Aunt Missy at the Illinois State Fair. Purple Tour: 1994, the year I really got into my own music and not just my parents’ and pop. 

Meat Puppets and Jawbox opened. We had seats in the last row of the grandstand. I screamed myself horse and badmouthed Jawbox. 

I’ll be in mourning, wearing teal eyeshadow like I did to that show.

IT’S THE ANNUAL SUFJAN STEVENS CHRISTMAS ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Editor’s note: It may just be new to me, but I don’t care. 

Pretty much the best thing about Christmas for non-Xians. And the days off and general excitement generated by conditioning surrounding consumerist ritual. Happy Holidays!:D

The first track of the Astral Inter Planet Space Captain Christmas Infinity Voyage bootleg, available for download here. The bootleg has a very Adz-y feel, pretty representative of where Sufjan was musically at the time the EP was recorded. Personally, it’s my favorite of the Christmas EPs (I like it better than Volume 8 on Silver and Gold :) ) Merry Christmas!
