Rebecca Cheptegei, a Ugandan marathon runner who competed in the Paris Olympics last month, has died days after she was burned by her boyfriend, the country’s athletics federation confirmed on X, formerly known as Twitter, Thursday.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our athlete, Rebecca Cheptegei early this morning who tragically fell victim to domestic violence,” the Uganda Athletics Federation posted. “As a federation, we condemn such acts and call for justice. May her soul rest In Peace.”

From Revival Night @inspirechurchonline to #jesusrevolution with my husband and best friend @brucekawano 🙌🏽🥰💖🙏🏽✝️ It’s been a long busy day but I just love how God puts everything into place and through placing trust in Him I’m allowed to do so many things. He can make anything possible! God is so good!! Counting my blessings, day 79 of 365… this is what God did for me today: 1. Went to work at 5am 2. Got 2 certificates of training done 3. Got home and took a nap. Started my school work but was so tired that I napped in the recliner. When I got up I went to make me a green smoothie and I started feeling shaky and sweating really badly. I finished, prayed for the Lord to heal whatever was going on, I drank my smoothie, ate a little bit but still felt so tired so I went back to sleep. I woke up feeling better with enough time to get my school work and quiz finished and make it to church. 4. Did my online TSA Associate course and quiz. Continuing with my A grade! 5. Attended church online, Revival Night 6. Had dinner brought to me by my hubby 7. And got to see the Jesus Revolution movie again! This time with my husband. 🥰🙌🏽 So many blessings in 1 24hr period! Thank you Father God!! Thank you for blessing me and allowing me to walk in your field of favor.
