9, kiriminadeku, because my bday is soon!! Or minasetsu, "wanna bet" if you're only doing pairs
Sorry if this is rushed. I kind if took a different focus here and told it from Mina's perspective. I worked in a battle idea I had but made this less action and more introspection. Since it is a drabble, I didn't go as deep as I could have but hopefully it is good. And thanks to new revelations from ultra analysis, I implemented polyamorous cupioromantic Mina. Hope this is a good birthday gift, Ann-Chan!
----------------
Mina knew what she was signing up for. Well, not really. She knew she wanted to be a hero but she admitted she had taken much of it for granted, like how scary it could be. She had stood up to a villain before, but that still caused her to break into tears when said villain left. And when the USJ incident happened, it was ten times worse. Or maybe 100. Math wasn't her strong suit.
What she also wasn't prepared for was love. She had never had crushes before. She thought she had but it never felt how she imagined. She wanted a live story but started to doubt if it was really for her.
"I'm still young. It will happen when it happens."
And then she met the most important people in her life. She made plenty of friends. That came easy enough to her. But the love at first sight she hoped for never came. However, two boys came into her life: one through middle school initially but both eventually through UA.
She wasn't particularly close to them at first, chat casual friendship. However as time went on, something happened. A bond was forged between all three, one that felt deep and intimate and what Mina always imagined love to be like. But why Did It take so long? And could she feel it for two people? Nevertheless, these two boys; Izuku Midoriya, and Eijirou Kirishima became very dear to her.
X
Cut to their second year in UA, late into their second semester. Mina's knuckles were turning white as her face flushed lavender.
"You two are idiots...I thought I was the dumb one but you almost got killed"
It was a knockdown, drag out fight. Two of their fiercest opponents had formed an alliance in prison and broken out, wanting a rematch with the boys who had given them the best fights of their lives.
It was bloody and extreme and both parties were left in absolute horrific condition. Luckily the two boys ended up in the same hospital room and the "bloodbath bros", as they deemed themselves, were assigned separate cells.
And yet here the victors were, in the hospital. Mina hated feeling left out. The boys and their personal business while she evacuated civilians felt unfair. She could fight too. She was in this field of work as well. She could provide a winning edge, help with strategy. That was more if Izuku's thing but she was learning. Flexibility was built into her body and being at UA...meeting the people she met...she wanted to expand that to all areas.
"What was it you dumb, proud dorks always say? Fight to protect what you care about?"
A teardrop fell and landed on Izuku's nose. And then another fell, enough to wake him up from the mini-coma he was in. Luckily he didn't explode all his bones like he would have in the past, and Kirishima wasn't in full mummy wrap. However the fact remains that the young heroes could have very well been permanently incapacitated in one way or form.
"Nnnn. Mina?" Izuku groaned.
"Guess we should have considered you had something to protect too. Sorry we're both a bit thick about it."
Black eyes lit up like glimmering pools if ink under a lamplight. She did her best to hug both at the same time. Alas it was impossible so she did so one at a time, puncturing each with a tender forehead kiss.
"Thank god you two are ok. You are ok, right?"
"As good as I can he from you squeezing my ribs. Owsers!" the redheaded boy said in a strained yet cheerful voice.
"Glad to see you're alright, Mina-Chan...and sorry for worrying you."
The pink girl smiled and took a seat between the two beds, trying her best to ruffle the hair if both her boyfriends at once
"Good. Because you are never doing that again. EVER! Not without me!"
The two boys nodded and slumped in their beds.
"Deal. We're a team."
"That's right. And don't you forget." Mina wiped the tears from her eyes. "I'll hold you both to that."
The trio sat together, a slow comfort setting in. They were safe now, and Mina had never been so sure in her life: she had found love.

In my opinion it's a lot more healthy to be able to own that you dislike someone for petty reasons than to do all kinds of mental gymnastics to make everyone you don't really vibe with out to be a bad person actually

"how do you tell the difference between a whippet and an italian greyhound" simple. look at it head on. if it looks like a dog it's a whippet. if it's making a face like you've just threatened it with a firearm, it's an iggy

For all of the northerners that stood up for Texas during our freeze and said, "Don't make fun of them, they've never dealt with this before. Their infrastructure isn't made for snow and freezing."
This one is for you.
Where I live 108°F with 80% humidity with no wind is normal.
Pacific North West is dealing historic best waves 35-40°C or 95-105°F.
First of all. Don't make fun of them for bitching about the heat. Just like Texas isn't built for a freeze and our pipes burst, Pacific North West isn't built for heat and a lot of their homes don't have AC.
If you live somewhere with a high humidity like 80+ HUMIDITY IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. The "humidity makes it feel cooler" is a lie once it gets beyond a point.
If you live somewhere with a lower humidity, misters are nice to cool off outside.
Once you get over 90°F (32°C) a fan will not help you. It's just pushing around hot air. (I mean if you can't afford a small AC unit because they're expensive as hell, by all means a fan is better than nothing).
If you have pets, those portable AC units aren't safe. If your pets destroy the outtake thing, it'll leak CO2. Window units are safer.
Window AC units will let mosquitoes or other small bugs in. Sucks, but that's life.
Now is not the time to me modest. If you have to cover for religious reasons, by all means. If you don't, I've seen people wear short shorts and a swim top. It's not trashy if it keeps you from getting heat stroke.
If you do have to cover up for religious reasons, look for elephant pants or something similar. They're made with a breathable material.
Shade is better than no shade, but that shit it just diet sun after some point. Don't think shade will save you from heat stroke.
I know the "drink your water" is a fun meme now, but if you're sweating excessively you need electrolytes. Drink Gatorade, Powerade, or Pedialite PLEASE. I don't care if you're fucking sitting in one spot all day. That shit WILL save you from heat stroke.
Most importantly. RESEARCH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEAT STROKE AND HEAT EXHAUSTION PLEASE!
If you're diabetic and can't drink Gatorade, mix water, fruit juice, and either lite salt or pink salt
If you can afford it, cover windows with thick curtains to insulate the house
If you have tile floors, lay on them with skin to tile contact. If you don't, laying your head on cool counters works too.
If the temperature where you're at is hotter than your body temperature, don't wear heat wicking clothing. Moisture wicking is safe though.
Check your medication labels. Many make you more susceptible to sun and heat
-Room temperature water will get into your body faster. This is something I learned doing marching band in high summer in Georgia, and it saved all of our asses. Sip it, don't gulp it, especially if you're getting into the red; same goes for whatever fluid you're drinking. And just in general drink during the day.
-If you are moving from an air conditioned space to an un-air conditioned space, if at all possible try to make the shift gradual. When my dad and I were working outside and in un-ac houses a few years ago, he'd turn the air down to low in the truck about ten-fifteen minutes before we got where we were going. This way your body doesn't go from low low temps to high temps. S'bad for you.
-If you can, keep your lights off during the day. Light bulbs may not generate a lot of heat, but the difference is noticeable when it gets hot enough. I literally only turn my bedroom light on in the evening when it gets too dark.
Don't be afraid to just like... pour water on yourself if you need to. The evaporation will cool you off.
Put your hand to the cement for 15 seconds. If you can't handle the heat, it'll burn your dog's paws. Don't let them walk on it.
Dogs with flat faces are more prone to heat stroke. Don't leave them out unsupervised.
Frozen fruit is delicious in water.
Wet/Cold hat/handkerchief on your head/neck will help you stay cool.
Pickle juice is great for electrolytes! You can even make pickle juice Popsicles!
Heat exhaustion is more, "drink water and get you cooled off." Heat stroke is more "Oh my god call 911."
Image Description provided by @loveize
[Image description: an infographic showing the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The graphic is labeled "Heat Dangers: First Warning." Signs of heat exhaustion: faint or dizzy, excessive sweating, cool, pale, clammy skin, rapid, weak pulse, muscle cramps. If you think you or someone else may be experiencing heat exhaustion, get to a cool, air-conditioned place, drink water if conscious, and take a cool shower or use cold compress. Signs of heat stroke: throbbing headache, no sweating, red, hot, dry skin, rapid, strong pulse, may lose consciousness. If you think you or someone else may be experiencing heat stroke, call 911. End description]
Be safe.

Did Mel have like, any contact with Earth while she was traveling with Sabalom Glitz or did she just randomly show back up in the 2020's with zero idea what the hell Earth has gotten up to in the past 30 years?

most of the posts in the tumblr disability support community are people asking for permission to use mobility aids. personally i understand the terror of "gettting in trouble" for literally nothing, thats a pretty normal trauma response to (gestures vaguely) all this, but you have to remember that once you start using a cane, you're going to be the one already holding a bludgeoning weapon every time someone is rude to you for the rest of your life
