Having experienced a lot of it in my 20s, I think some of the worst, pettiest, most straight up this-is-just-bullying-you're-passing-off-as-praxis incidences of Queer Infighting endemic to young people can be best understood as attempts to exercise power by people with very little power.

Like you're 22, you're queer, you've just become a Marxist, the scope of World Suck is overwhelming and you have $30 in your bank account. What can you do to feel like you have any power? Well, you can try to get your frenemy cancelled for cosplaying a character from a problematic show. You can write a public callout post over someone's obviously friendly use of a slur you don't think they technically have the right to reclaim. Doing this stuff can make you feel like you have power and your actions have an impact. Unfortunately the impact in question is a negative impact on other marginalized people. But that often takes some maturity and self-reflection to notice.

I’ve noticed something kind of tragically hilarious.

most trans girls on Tumblr are either running horny blogs, quietly battling clinical depression, or both. Like, the sacred rite of passage seems to be crying in a hoodie that smells like girl sweat and regret… only to pause mid-sob, scroll past some gorgeously drawn or written smut, and casually reblog it with a tag like “me n my gf (manifesting)” before going right back to spiraling.

It’s honestly an entire mood board: chipped nail polish, thighs half-shaved, heart in shambles—but the blog? Impeccably curated with soft porn, cursed memes, and big gay energy.

We're not okay, but at least we’re hot, gay, and terminally online about it. Tumblr’s our little church where we worship by thirsting, crying, and healing in the weirdest, most beautiful ways. Bless this chaotic little girlhood. Amen.

People straight up do not realize that part of the reason manufacturing is not returning to the United States in massive waves is because we have things like “OSHA” and “environmental laws” and “minimum wages.”

It’s not even just about fair wages. It’s literally about the fact that you can’t dump industrial waste in a river here anymore.

Our cheap goods are so cheap because South American and Asians environments are being destroyed so you can buy a $40 pair of shoes every 3 months.

Cutting granite countertops has lead to a rapid increase in silicosis in the lungs out in California. All the working men and women in my family have died from pulmonary fibrosis. They were carpet layers, Post office workers, floor tilers. Staying safe in manufacturing jobs is annoying but also very, very expensive. Real manufacturing factories belch smoke and dust and grime that causes asthma and birth defects in surrounding communities. Everyone wants their manufacturing jobs back until they realize their kids are living directly under the Asthma Plant.

There will come a time when the workers in these countries rise up and demand better and things will start to even out, but if you want to honestly “do your part,” you gotta stop buying cheap shit for no reason.

Not every event needs to be celebrate with a baseball cap or a coozie or a t shirt or a keychain. Not every wall in the house has to have a picture or a cute phrase on it. The knickknacks are killing people.

"procrastination won't work in college" ok so. yes it will. but it's a lot more dangerous. I always used to hear about how i won't be able to procrastinate when i get to uni, but really, you can just become an even more dangerous procrastinator. you don't have a weekly quiz and graded homework to keep you on track. if i decide to not go to intro to quantum for a month because 12pm is too early for me to make it to class and i'd rather eat breakfast, then i can just not, and I can cram the whole thing the night before the final. This does work. I have not done badly on any exams this year despite being a severe procrastinator, and my GPA this year is like a 3.97. However. This does come at the cost of your sanity and health. I cannot recommend this strategy. You should learn to not procrastinate, but you cannot proceed with the mindset that eventually you'll run out of ability to procrastinate and you'll be forced to actually do things on time. You can always procrastinate. You just end up sacrificing your health.

everyone who thinks "social pressure to transition" is real has naturalised the social pressure Not to transition to such a point that they have become incapable of understanding that it's real and exists. "cis guy who likes wearing a skirt has been pressured into becoming trans :(" how about "trans girl who is in the middle of cracking her egg is terrified of being trans and you telling her that it's Okay to be a cis man in a skirt is unhelpful at best and open transmisogyny at worst". you do not see that 99.99% of the social pressure is in the direction of Staying Cis because it is only that 0.01% that feels unnatural to you

In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.

I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all.
