“RED STRING OF FATE”

Originating in Chinese legend, the Red String of Fate is said to be an invisible cord tied between the ankles of two people destined to be soul mates. In Japanese and Korean cultures this became the Red Thread of Destiny or Red Thread of Marriage, tying together the little fingers of the fated couple. Detroit-based leading publisher of fine art editions, @1xRun, says Oakland-based Allison Tinati, aka Hueman’s, “freestyle mashups of the abstract and figurative” draw on the human condition and add an ethereal motion to flat surfaces. Traveling to Detroit only days after her 2016 wedding to her soul mate, Hueman partnered with 1xRun and created this mural in the alley between Graviot Ave and Maple St for the annual @MuralsInTheMarket festival.  @hueman_/

“THE WYLDE”

When not busy running Las Vegas-based @Zappos, Tony Hsieh— @DowntownTony —also found time to launch the Downtown Project and Las Vegas @ReviewJournal reports he has invested $350 million into Fremont St area real estate and businesses—including a recently completed $2.5 million renovation of the 88-room mid-century modern @DowntownerLV Motel on N. Eighth St. Amid a burgeoning street art scene the motel also serves as canvas for multiple installations in the outdoor gallery of Downtown Las Vegas, including this 2017 collaboration by tattoo artists Anthony Ortega and Brett Rosepiler. Reno-based Ortega says he’s inspired by psychedelics to push his use of color to new levels, both in his tattoo work and his murals. “CAT WITCH"

“Ethereally aloof, effortlessly diabolic,” @DestSalem says cats have long been considered to be potent magical agents and emissaries of several pagan goddesses. When Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel visited the home of the Salem Witch Trials in 2017 to create a Congress St mural for the Punto Urban Art Museum, the cat provided a natural subject for his trademark colorful geometric expression. @Urban.Art.Museum brings world class art to children of The Point neighborhood of Salem and grew out of the efforts of the 40-year-old @NorthShoreCDC organization to lift the many diverse neighborhoods of Boston’s North Shore.  @okudart/
