If you’ve been following Magpie for a while you might remember us asking for name suggestions back in December before we released a new colorway. Behold... the perfect yarn cake! ⁣ ⁣ I have really struggled to find a swift and winder combo that work well for me. I’ve tried several and usually end up with either a pretty cake that’s tight AF or a sloppy one that’s drooling bits all over the place. Lately I’ve been double winding everything. Works well, but seriously, winding it once is bad enough. ⁣ ⁣ I was complaining to @maressamade who helpfully asked if I’d seen @just_tracie’s video of her new winding setup. I hadn’t, so I did, and it took about 15 seconds for me to go to⁣ @fiberartistsupplyco and order (l both blame and thank you both 😂).⁣ Y’all, it’s magic! When was the last time caking yarn was fun? I’m seriously digging around my stash looking for skeins to wind!⁣ ⁣ I got the electric kit that can be fitted to an IKEA trestle base so we can use it at the studio. I’m thinking it’s pretty funny that it’s an absolutely perfect spring day here in Maryland. This would have been not only our biggest open house yet, it also would have been the only one so far with no rain 😂.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m taking Kam for a long walk to enjoy the weather before coming home to ship orders. This is a bit of a sad week for me. We should be running around getting the studio ready for our Maryland Sheep & Wool open house. @lolabeanyarnco and @shelli.can should be doing all the last minute things before heading our way. We had so much fun stuff planned and some exciting announcements too (more on that later), but most of all I’ll miss seeing you.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣•⁣⁣ These adorable bags are one of the fun things we had planned. I’m sure that, like me, you’re totally over this #covidlife. It has been stressful and frustrating and scary. It has also forced me to slow down and actually ’be’ at home. I’m usually so busy working, traveling and planning what’s next that I forget to enjoy where I am.⁣ ⁣🌱 I used to love to garden and cook and bake, but I haven’t really found time for them over the past few years.
