Fresh Precure!: Which to Watch?

Yep, making an episode guide for my personal favorite Precure series. To @bewitchedbunny, this is for you!

The first 3 episodes are of course, important as the 3 main Cures are introduced there in addition to the series set up.

Skippable episodes for the first 25 installments of the series are #4-6 and 12.

Rasons why the episodes in between the filler shouldn't be missed:

- They provide character focus as well as introduce a number of story arcs that become more relevant as the first half continues.

- Episode 10 provides a lot of context for Inori's backstory

- Though episode 16 looks like a filler episode based on the title alone, the events of that episode are actually relevant for the next one.

Skippable episodes for the remaining 25 installments of the series are #27, 31, 33, 39 and 41.

Reasons why the episodes in between the filler shouldn't be skipped:

- Introduces 2 story arcs (#30 plus #32 and #34-37) that run concurrent to each other

- Episode 29 expands on a major supporting character's role in the story

- Episode 42 is the cumulation of one of the Cure's character arcs.

last week of mini mahou march ! last theme was pirate kaitou/phantom thief magical girl !

"silent as the night,

restless as the sea,

pretty as the moon !

sailing the seas and stealing from the rich, it’s the mysterious kaitou hiromi !"

one night as she was sailing alone on the sea, hiromi came across a wounded mermaid. diving in the cold water, she took her to the shore and tended to her wounds, carefully keeping her tail underwater.

once back to health, the mermaid told her the reason why she was wandering near human land ; not long ago, a greedy human had stolen a magical tiara representing peace across the seven seas, adorned with seven magical gems. without these gems, the mermaids’ powers had been greatly weakened, and sea monsters had been attacking ships all over the world.

touched by hiromi’s kindness, the mermaid entrusted her with a mission she couldn’t accomplish herself ; gathering the seven gems that have been stolen and sold to greedy noblemen. she gifted the young girl with a magical jade necklace with which she could summon powers from the sea, and a shell that would allow her to communicate with hiromi wherever she was.

more than eager for adventure, hiromi gladly accepted her mission, and immediately set sail to new horizons !

i chose to differ from the usual western style pirate and chose a more traditional japanese inspired pirate design, partly because i’d love to see mermaid/pirate stories mixed with traditional japanese elements, and partly because designing these outfits is my favorite thing !

the only kaitou magical girl shows i watched were kamikaze kaitou jeanne and kaitou saint tail, both with strong european/religious inspirations, and the only other thief anime i was were inspired by arsène lupin ! while i love these shows to death, of what it could be if it was inspired by japanese mythology instead, and this design came to be after i was reminded of tsukuyomi, god of the moon.

i could have gone with susanoo, god of the storms and the seas, but hey... i’m obsessed with moon inspired designs okay ? and it fit well with the thief/mysterious character energy. i also came up with a little story for her, even though it’s by no means original, i’d probably still watch the show !

with this the mini mahou march challenge comes to an end, and it was really so much fun ! thank you @prettywarriors for hosting it, it was a great pleasure seeing everyone’s pretty and cool designs week after week !!
