Can't believe I forgot to follow you the first time I visited your blog.

But I'm one of the readers of Home! Hope you're doing okay (^ v ^)

I see that you said you have some details of how Dark looks like in the story but also don't mind us seeing him in our own vision.

I personally always imagine Dark with solid red pupilless eyes. Just this blank stare that tells you nothing of where and what he's looking at.

I think it's very endearing. (^ᴗ^✿⁠)

i love the idea of that, and I definitely think that dark would take advantage of that fact. I find it likely that he'd have issues with keeping eye contact, so with eyes like those he could keep his face directed to who he's talking to (so that they don't... get upset :)) while actually looking somewhere else

because of this habit, I also think he'd probably also have the unfortunate experience of spacing out while 'looking' at someone and then it seems like he's staring at them. in reality, he's probably staring at, like, a tree. or the sky. (or sky...)

all-in-all, I think that idea is so silly and I absolutely love it! I think there's a lot of interesting ideas that could be had concerning dark's eyes (for example, I've considered the idea of him being colourblind before, which could be fun) and I love hearing people's thoughts on it! thank you for the ask (⁠◕⁠ᴗ⁠◕⁠✿⁠)

alright, so this isn't the best drawing since i sketched it out in about ten minutes, but i've been thinking a lot about the idea of pre-room dark being very dog (specifically, golden retriever) coded, in that he was very excitable and loud, and probably eager to please. he cared a lot. and then, post-room, as has been obvious from the fic, he's very (black) cat coded, he's more quiet and thoughtful. and easily frightened. and a lot less friendly.

in essence, this drawing is my visual rendition of that. i just find it interesting to explore how much he's changed, and i hope you guys like it!!

so, it turns out that was (ironically) a bot, trying to promote ai itself by mentioning a lesser known model by name 😭 what a joke. I did think it might've been a bot, but I couldn't figure out what they'd get from it. advertising was the answer

i just got a comment on home accusing me of using ai to write it (•᷄- •᷅ ;) it seems that they put the fic (or just the chapter? i'm unsure) into some sort of ai detector, so they're trying to use ai to find ai which i find kind of insane, nevermind the fact that it is obviously incorrect - plus those detectors are *known* for being inaccurate!

i'm not super bothered, i just found it kind of insane and thought i might share

oh, definitely. it fits really well!

i also feel like the song works chronologically for him. like, the first verse just calling it "a room" and then it becoming "his room" once he's spent enough time inside it to start feeling like it's his. and he did, indeed "[try] to get something out of it" by spending the time inside going through his thoughts, coming up with plans, and the like.

and, finally, "went out to look for a reason to hide again" also fits him i feel, since every time he's gone out - even now with the heroes, where he's mostly content - he's found issue with the sound, with being bothered, and always ends up wanting to go back despite not loving it in the room either.

tl;dr - it fits a lot and i definitely agree! im also happy that you think of my fic enough to connect it with the song at all :)

i have some songs that i connect to the fic, myself, too. if you're interested in them, the main two are 'world of grey' by cg5 (for while he's in the room, and the subsequent escape) and 'language of the lost' by rip (pretty much for dark's character arc for the entire fic - though i think this song pretty much works for any 'dark link joining the chain' fics).

Or; Dark is kept in a small, empty room for hours at a time as punishment whenever he fails to kill the heroes. It does more damage than he realises, and, when a foiled escape plan somehow leads to Dark ending up among the chain... Maybe he can start to heal.

Dark was in The Room again.

The thought no longer was spoken with dread, but neither with happiness. It was merely a statement. He was here, as he would remain for the foreseeable future that was the next seven hours of his life.

It's about time I drew something for this fic! Home by mysteryn0te is a lovely story written in the perspective of Dark, a lonely shapeshifter who is tired of fighting for a cause he no longer believes in.

Cue the Chain.

This fic is the perfect combination of hurt and comfort--Dark isn't nearly as okay with his past treatment as he thinks he is. Healing is a journey, so it's a good thing he has a group of heroes there to support him along the way ^-^

Thinking about how Mio's subconscious is full and active, while Zoe's is empty and crumbling. How the contents of Mio's are locked up and the environment will actively fight against you, meanwhile the contents of Zoe's are out in the open, on display if only you take the time to look.

Something something, Mio tries not to be what she is, while Zoe tries to be what she's not, something, Zoe neglects herself and can't face what's there, while Mio is overwhelmed and has to actively struggle to access anything, something something.
