So a group of Tempe, Arizona police officers who bought their coffees, ie paying customers, were asked to "move out of the line of sight" of another patron who was "uncomfortable" with their presence or to leave a local Starbucks chose to leave. How about asking the customer who raised the concern to move or leave? Last night the Mahwah Police Department, in conjunction with the Mahwah PBA, Local #143, held its first award ceremony under Chief Stephen Jaffe who appointed the lead the agency just two months. Several officers received awards in the categories of: Honorable Service, Meritorious Service, Exceptional Duty, Life Saving and delivering a baby, as well as Unit Citations. At last night's council meeting the mayor and council recognized Captain Guido Bussinelli, Detective Lieutenant Kevin Hebert and Detective Sergeant Michael Grassi for their promotions, as well as Captain Stuart Blank for his designation as Executive Officer of the Mahwah Police Department. These promotions are the first under Chief Stephen Jaffe who was appointed and confirmed just 2 months ago. It's the time of year that most cops love and most wives/girlfriends hate (and many chiefs too). No-Shave November, aka Movember, is in full effect for the next 30 days so if you see one of officers with facial hair it's not because they're lazy or ran out of razors. Each participating officer is donating $50 which will be matched by the PBA.
