Desastre from VisionaryDespot on Vimeo.
Smoking, drinking, seducing women; Garth Jones is not your average eleven year old, but he doesn’t need a psychiatrist, he just needs a translator. Classic French cinema meets American Gothic in this hilarious comedy about a French boy born into an English family.

Only Bones Project - Marina Cherry from Marina Cherry on Vimeo.
*Original text by Thom Monckton*
Introducing in an official capacity the wonderfully creative Marina Cherry who is joining the Only Bones Project and starting work on Only Bones v1.6 this year. Hailing from Missoula, Montana, currently based in Stockholm, Marina works with extreme flexibility, combined with dance and physical theatre to create an idiosyncratic style of performance. Starting in gymnastics Marina eventually developed a metaphorical allergy to the technique and rigidity at the elite level of the discipline, which drove her to experiment with her individuality. Although she acknowledges what she gained in technique and discipline “what I would rather put some value on is highlighting why I’m different”
Marina trained in circus at Ecole Nationale du Cirque (ENC) in Montreal and at Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Brussels.
Although having trained at a high level with skills and technique most of her life her creativity relies more on her ability to improvise within a conceptual realm, being open to new directions as they appear.
“The process of my creation is also a huge self-exploration but in the sense that I claim no knowledge of what I’m doing or of myself, and so along the way I’m also discovering, and that discovery is of myself and of the work.”
“I absoluely love being on stage... if we were to do it just for ourselves or to put it out into the world on a different platform rather than live… I don’t think it would be as precious to me.”
Only Bones Project is very excited to have Marina join the project and can’t wait to see what direction she will take us in!

Only Bones Project
Only Bones Project is a minimalist physical theatre and sparse-video performance concept. Using uniform restrictive parameters solo performers create their own unique live shows with a similar aesthetic. With guidelines of "only one light, one performer, no narrative, no set, no props, no text, and all within 1m2", artists are then left much to their own devices to create their own world within a concept. Artists are free to bend or break the rules, however the guidelines are in place to encourage a challenging puzzle to be creative within.
In parallel to the live performance, these same solo performers are invited to create video projects, placing their exemplary physicality into sparse environments, highlighting our human connection/disconnection to the world.

IN[EX] from Marina Cherry on Vimeo.
An exploration of the contradictory paradox of mind and body.
A complex tension between internal and external.
A search into the self. Of being. Amongst Beings.
Of what it means to exist in a world alone yet surrounded by others.
A warped un-narrative told through the body of a contortionist.
IN[EX] confronts one’s absolute freedom of existence through the perspective of a body that is seemingly unconstrained.
It is a research of self, of the physical body, and of the connection to the external.
It is a self-experimentation; a poking and prodding to the large questions in life traversing multiple dimensions of language.
This project written in the form of a series of structured improvisations, chosen through methods based on space, duration and pure arbitration that surrounds life on a larger scale. Coming together like a puzzle, the show form adapts and is sensitive to each performance opening up an incomparable intensity and self-empowered quirkiness. The young female ponders equally the notions of image and the truth based on superficial perceptions, asking the audience to dig deeper.

Chicken Pudding and Other Desserts Around the World from Great Big Story on Vimeo.
We’re sampling seven desserts in seven countries in the latest episode of “Around the World.” Great Big Story senior producer/dessert fiend Beryl Shereshewsky likes to surprise us. So she went on a global dessert hunt and found some of the sweetest treats the world has to offer. Among them: Turkey’s tavuk göğsü, aka, chicken pudding; alegría, a sweet Colombian coconut delight; wagashi, an intricate Japanese confection that’s almost too pretty to eat; and France’s gâteau à la broche, cake cooked over an open fire. The one thing all of these desserts have in common? Lots of yum.
