hello! call me Maker. i make things - spinning, knitting, weird art / zine things, and some writing i don’t actually talk about much here. sometimes my cat, The Bean, is also here. Bean is here a lot, actually. (i’m also an adult, if that matters to you.)

For as long as I can remember I've had about a cup's worth of mixed seed beads and now I'm finally sorting them. It's not as fun as sorting buttons, but still a very engrossing task. I'm trying to limit myself to a teaspoon a day so I don't make my neck sore by leaning over it. I've been at it for nearly 2 weeks and am more than a third of the way through now.
I'm not sorting them by every specific colour, just into colour categories based on how many spaces my egg platter has, but they're much more useable in this form and I can always sort them further if necessary.

Don’t know if I told you guys I was working on this, but I just completed the Fleur Top by Fabric Godmother, in this gorgeous red cotton poplin also from Fabric Godmother.
The pattern was super easy to follow and fun to sew! I’m so happy with the fit.
Notes: I made a size 16 B cup sleeveless top. The only adjustment I made was lengthening the bodice above the peplum by 1 1/4 inches which I think is so much more flattering on me than the pattern as written, which is meant to fall at your “natural” waist.
Wore it to work with this RTW white button down and my cherry earrings (that you can barely see) and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments! It’s fun and trendy for the summer but is also roomy enough that I can layer it for fall. Really happy with this make!

#TextileTuesday:

“Border fragment of wool with a continuous band of #hummingbirds and fringelike appendages representing beans. Early Nasca [Nazca, Peru, c.1-450 CE]. Pollination of bean plants by birds may be suggested here. Border was formed using a needle-knit stemstitch.”

the bothering beast hates tablet weaving
the loom cruelly takes up all of the lap space so the bothering beast can't be at her preferred proximity for kneading

anyone have good resources for learning how to knit cables? im struggling to find tutorials or even basic explainers that are written well, and video is not accessible to me.
i want to get good at cables because the only knitwear my husband has any interest in wearing is cardigans/sweaters with complex cabling 😅

unclear if i have enough pesto, please advise

went wild garlic picking today! a bit late because it’s all flowered now, which means it’s not as garlic-y, but that’s fine - i’ll just add some regular garlic in when i’m blending it all up.
