Finally finished measuring all these skeins & had some nice weather to photograph. All of these are completed from the start of the year with some skeins destined as gifts, some for small projects, and some were just for the fun of the fibre.

Kettle & Pablo are made by Homemade Horrors. Stringbean the Yak was from a market in Aotearoa.

I picked up an Ashford Country Spinner recently for chunky yarns and decided she needed a personal touch!

I’ve named her Ava.

She currently has 15 warbler species and a Hermit Thrush completed, but I’ll be adding more on other surfaces little by little! I went with a heavily simplified, pretty stylized style and I’m loving how it’s turning out.

The next few I’m working on are all 4 species of North American nuthatches on each side corner

I have a goal this year to spin enough yarn to knit a sweater entirely from my homespun.

I decided to use my box of hand me down grey and brown roving wool. Unknown age, but the address on the box is typewritten.

It still spins up very nicely though 😊. I'm using my (also of unknown age) Ashford wheel rather than hand spinning to speed the process along.

First 235ish yards down, about a thousand to go lol

If I have learned anything from doing fiber crafts it is to just dive right in and make the thing. You can do all the research, buy the right yarn, gauge swatch and plan your projects to the best of your ability and still make mistakes

Just make the thing. Give yourself grace when you mess up, then learn from it.

I got some lovely fiber for my birthday. Natural brown alpaca (left) and dyed merino (right).

Both of these fibers were gifts from different friends so I plied them together for the ultimate friendship yarn :3

Medusa by FellviewFibres spun as singles. They’re a little overspun but I’m telling myself that gives it character so it’s ok!

Tour de Fleece is starting soon, and I wanted to get some practice in before we kick off again!

Completed crochet shawl made using my handspun. Yarn is WoW Dragons Breath colourway which is 80% merino and 20% mulberry silk.

Pattern is the Darjeeling Tea shawl by RedTeaPotAtelier.

I think I've officially settled on Lenka, suggested by @phallicthimble ! The name means light and is of Czech/Slovak origin.

We've uncovered that my family is from that strange nexus between countries where the Carpathian Mountains are. So this feels especially fitting!
