Mako can’t shut up about Korra

When I first watched “The Voice in the Night” (1x04), I thought that Asami was just being polite speaking to Korra here. It just seemed a little weird to me that Mako would say much about Korra to Asami.

Then we get to “The Ultimatum” (3x11) and Grandma Yin mistakes Asami for Korra.

Apparently, Mako told his grandma “so much” about Korra. We didn’t really see much of it though. And where did Grandma Yin get the idea that the Avatar is beautiful? She’s just being really nice here, right?

But then…

…we get to “Remembrances” (4x08). All Wu has to do is ask and Mako starts talking about Korra.

Mako even gets frustrated when Wu interrupts his story about Korra because he wants to keep talking about Korra so badly.

If Mako didn’t feel like telling Wu that much about his relationship with Korra, he easily could’ve changed the subject here and talked about his pro-bending career. But nah, he keeps talking about Korra.

And he’s interrupted more than once.

And just as annoyed by being interrupted.

Really all you have to do is ask Mako about Korra and he’ll go on…and on…and on.

Ok one headcanon that's been on my mind was I read a post somewhere saying Korra is a top and like maybe she is because girl is obviously in control 24/7 BUT

I read a book fairly recently (The Princess Trap) where the woman was in control everywhere except the bedroom. Her man was a golden retriever until things got hot and heavy, then he would be the one in control but they were both super into it. (Great spicy book btw).

I thought it was a super interesting concept and hey we don't know what's going on behind closed doors ;) Maybe its the opposite of what you'd expect!

Another idea I've been toying with is that Korra is impatient and Mako is patient. Not that Korra can't brush her own hair, but I imagine her getting bedhead and not wanting to deal with it (esp in the morning), so Mako enjoys getting her tangles out for her (& taking care of her in small ways in general). And Korra enjoys the feeling of him gently brushing it for her (bc who doesn't love having their hair brushed!). Maybe he even keeps brushing when all the tangles are out because it feels good :)) ❤️💙

So glad you exist! Can you share some headcanons for how Makorra get back together at the end or after the show? They always made much more sense as an endgame ship to me.

Totally agree!! Ideally, in the finale Korra would see that Mako risked his LIFE to help her and realize how devoted he is to her (aka how much he loves her) and they would get back together. Also the thought of almost losing him would freak Korra out in the same way that Tarrlok taking Korra made Mako freak out. It would help her realize her feelings like how Mako did. In their last on-screen conversation, I feel like the words ‘I love you’ are on the tip of Mako's tongue, but he leaves them left unsaid. And it was CRIMINAL for them to have Korra say nothing after Mako declares his devotion to her. They knew the only feasible response would be a declaration of love from Korra so they cut it short mwahahaha. 100% truth. source: trust me bro.

As things stand now, my headcanon for Mako is that he is destined to be in love with Korra. Period!! Korra fell first, but Mako fell harder. I seriously don't see him moving on. Korra just has this huge impact on him and he devotes himself to her whether she loves him romantically or not (and also focuses on his career). At this point, Mako would end up exactly like Beifong - single childless Chief of Police constantly helping their ex-lover. (I wish we got more from them. I love the Beifong-Mako mother-son duo)

So pretending Korra does find herself in this relationship with someone else, maybe it will just fizzle out like any other relationship can. I haven't given it too much thought since I obviously prefer to rewrite the finale in my mind lol. Mako and Korra would have to reconnect but how, when, and why!! I think Mako would keep his love for Korra to himself, not wanting to ruin anything between them. I think Korra would have to be the one to break the ice.

Gosh, I'm really not sure how it would play out in my mind. There needs to be some kind of catalyst, but I'm not sure what. (Mako's sacrifice would have been perfect!) I'll have to give it more thought, but awesome question!!!!! ❤️💙

Makorra gets to much hate so it’s hard to find people who just enjoy the ship anywhere. I mean I get a certain ship is canon but what’s wrong with people wanting to ship Mako and Korra in peace?

TOTALLY AGREE!!!! If I recall correctly the hate was the whole reason the makorra 2.0 tag was created. I personally don’t even use tags like tlok, korra, mako, or anything other than strictly makorra tags to avoid any of the potential hate. Idc if my posts get like 2 notes from the lack of tags; My people know where to find me 😜

Sometimes I joke that Amorra gets less hate than makorra 🤣. Like I get that I live my life through a makorra lens, but I don’t think it’s THAT weird to ship a couple that canonically dated and love each other (& always will❤️💙)!! It genuinely doesn’t make any sense to me.

Makorra sometimes feels more like a support group than a normal ship because of the hate 😭. That’s why I made my bio the way I did lol. I am the makorra hotline headass 🤣🤣. 24/7!!!! U NEED ME U CALL ME!!! Luckily things have cooled down since the show ended almost a decade ago (wow). Hopefully the remaining makorra shippers can just enjoy makorra in peace!!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻
