IDW, I love ya, but the Diamond Cutters have been overall squandered so far. Especially Lanolin. I look at them, and I feel like they COULD be the de facto main characters of the comics aside from Team Sonic.
Like we already loved Tangle and Whisper, and Lanolin has one of the best character designs in the comics and has a lot of potential as a character. And the Diamond Cutters taking a more proactive role against existential threats? Ambitious, but admirable.
We got... one decent story after Lano's introduction, and then everything almost immediately falls to shit, because they just had to bring Mimic back. Lanolin is made out to be this cruel, unreasonable person for making actually a sound call with so little information she actually had, cuz Whisper wasn't explaining shit. But because new character was kinda mean to fan faves, Lanolin became easily one of the most divisive characters in the series. to the point that people would fantasize about the many ways she should die. Because media literacy be damned. What even is dramatic irony...?
There's a fucking remorseless, shape-shifting serial killer who we KNOW was starting shit. But oh no this sheep girl with reasonable, understandable motivations who is clearly being played is the scum of the earth. Abysmal. Send her to Brazil...
What makes it worse is that even after they DO hash it out (with Tangle being a shit to Lanolin, I might add), Lanolin gets written out and doesn't even get payback against Mimic. No closure or resolution. Cuz the writers would rather play favorites with the turbo lesbians than redeem the one character who should be the most furious with someone who played her like damned fiddle. Like ya know, the trio divided by the villain come together stronger than ever to stop them.
Idk I can only hope the 3 of them get together as a team again. But it's just been such a mess with them. And poor Lanolin keeps getting the short end of the stick.
Feels bad, man...

Lanolin the Human
Lamb-made leader- once again utilizing the freckles to suggest some of the original features of the original design, although like Whisper she has very human clothing to begin with so adapting is not especially hard. The bow band on top is a pretty clever addition though, if I do say myself.

June 6, 2025 - Clashes have erupted in downtown Los Angeles as riot police confronted demonstrators attempting to stop a wave of ICE immigration raids across the city.
ICE agents carried out coordinated operations on June 6th, reportedly detaining dozens of individuals in areas including a Home Depot and a garment factory. Antifascist locals gathered in response, attacking ICE units, forcing them to retreat inside a building.
LAPD officers in riot gear were deployed to come rescue embattled ICE agents, and deployed tear gas, flashbangs, and made arrests after declaring the demonstration an unlawful assembly. [video]/[video]

After playing BG3 somewhat extensively, I gotta be real.
Out of all the companions, Lae'zel feels like the "canon" romance partner, at least for me. Like yeah, there's the whole meme of Lae'zel being DTF almost immediately, but she ironically feels the most "earned" due to the way her story progresses whether she strays from Vlaakith or not.
Cuz unlike most of the other companions where you kinda just help them get through their fuckups and extra baggage after having a drink or a lay at the Goblin/Tiefling Party, Lae'zel surprisingly packs light in that sense.
She's sure of herself, is straightforward, tells you exactly what she thinks and doesn't mince words, and also keeps an open mind about most things. Even when having a crisis of faith after being betrayed by Vlaakith and the Creche, Lae'zel is open to discussion and taking in new information. Lae'zel, as well, seems to be one of few "nice Gith", in that she doesn't try to kill any of us (at first), displays quite a lot of patience, and actually tries to get everyone cured, rather than just slaughter us all to stop the Squiddening (though she does get ideas). More than this, she's also kind of innocent, in the way that she doesn't know much about Faerun or it's people and has a few moments of embarrassment where she gets something wrong and tries to save face and it's kinda cute. Such as the bit with "teeth-lings" and "Fay-run"
I also appreciate that despite being very dom-coded, if you assert yourself during the first sex scene, she's surprised but also... kinda into it? Which I suppose lends to being attracted to your battle prowess and leadership skills. It's also funny to me that Lae'zel seems to be the only one who does rough sex. Whereas most everyone else, it's very saccharine and tender. At least, from my point of view. But after another of your encounters with Lae'zel, the narrator remarks that "even your tongue aches". Like damn! There's also the following courtship ritual of beating the brakes off each other followed by even more rough sex. And if you win, she claims that you now possess her (hot).
Lae'zel does also have a tender side underneath the Gith soldier. Like how, if you keep the Githyanki egg from the Creche, she starts to become attached to it.
If you help her denounce Vlaakith, she mellows out quite a bit and speaks to you and others with a much less harsh tone. Even sounding caring and supportive at times. And if you romance her through this, she credits you for opening her eyes and showing you that Faerun is a beautiful place despite everything and that it's worth protecting.
TL;DR I like Lae'zel cuz she's passionate, honest, straightforward, likes it rough, surprisingly soft and supportive, receptive of criticism, and generally a well-written ass-kicker character.
(Also I cannot stress enough, this is merely my opinion based on my experience with the game.)

Referring to my original tags, I guess mad isn't the right word. Maybe disappointed. A lot of the back half of 5Ds was baffling. My issue with the ending I guess is that I'm a shipper and I hate when the audience gets blue-balled, despite all the build-up. I know romance is hardly ever a focus in Yu-Gi-Oh, but like come on... Not to mention, Aki already kinda got moved to the side in favor of Crow being part of the main 3 with Yusei and Jack. (insert benchwarmer meme here) I like Crow but I'm far more invested in Aki by that point.
Been on kind of a Yu-Gi-Oh! kick lately, and I've been reminded of how much I fucking love Aki Izayoi (or Akiza Izinski if you're wrong...). And she was probably the first character that would be considered a "waifu" to me. Cringe, I know, but like...

This woman changed my brain chemistry! She was cool, she's drop dead gorgeous like oh my god, Black Rose Dragon also happened to be my favorite of the signer dragons design wise, and her backstory hit closer to home than I care to admit. I empathized with her a lot. I don't have psychic powers obviously, but having people you care about condemn you just for being different and then falling in with people who just want to manipulate you.... yeah.
As well, I like the thematic nature of hers and Yusei's dragons. Black Rose Dragon having a field nuke as it's effect upon summon, as well as forcibly changing an opponent's monster to Attack Position. Whereas, Yusei's Stardust Dragon prevents destruction effects at the expense of itself, but then returning from the Graveyard at end of turn.
Black Rose Dragon: "All I do is destroy and cause conflict" Stardust Dragon: "I'm here and I always come back, even if it hurts."
So yeah, this woman is utterly captivating, and it's wild that I nearly forgot she existed.
Also yes, she has big ju-- ( explodes )

So Shadow always goes on about being the Ultimate Lifeform. He was created to be the Ultimate Lifeform. But he also once put forth that the Ultimate Lifeform might actually be Sonic, since they are comparable in speed, strength, etc. despite Sonic being born with his powers rather than artificially like Shadow. But then you have Silver who is a whole other thing. So I had thought:
Shadow is the Ultimate Lifeform from the past. As in, from 50 years ago. He is a hedgehog technically, but Gerald needed DNA from an alien warlord and taking cues from a horribly mutated salamander just to make something functional and stable. Even then, Shadow has Inhibitors to dampen his Chaos energy and basically keep him from exploding.
Sonic is the Ultimate Lifeform of the present. He was born that way, and it's never really explained why. He just kinda is. And even though he isn't as adept as Shadow, he can use Chaos powers. To speak nothing of his feats as Super Sonic, he can use pretty much any other odd power gimmick the universe throws at him, such as Wisps and Cyber powers.
And then you have Silver. Could it be argued he is the Ultimate Lifeform of the future? The sheer scale of his psychokinetic feats and inherent ability to use Chaos Control puts him at least on par with Shadow in terms of pure latent power. And aside from being from an everchanging desolate future, we know next to nothing about him. Like Sonic, Silver just is, and we don't know why.
To say nothing about Blaze, who is essentially her dimension's equivalent of Sonic despite being such a distinct character in her own right.
TL;DR - Shadow isn't THE Ultimate Lifeform, but one of, or the first, of many. But like, after the paradigm shift that was the Adventure games, Shadow is a tough act to follow. All of these characters square up with literal gods on the regular.
