Science of Gem Therapy & The Effects On Our Well-Being
It’s vital to choose the right gemstone that corresponds with the chakra you wish to tap into, or else it could lead to instability. A lot of gems tend to react differently to different people. Bright colours in one’s aura indicate good health, whereas dull colours may warn of an impending illness or negative energies.
Gemstones and The 7 Chakras
First Chakra (Root/Muladhara) – Located at the base of the spine, this chakra is responsible for your sense of security and groundedness. Smoky Quartz and Garnet chakra healing stones are associated with the first chakra.
Second Chakra (Sacral/Svadhisthana) – Found in your lower abdomen, responsible for your creativity, sexuality and intuition. Coral, Orange Calcite and Moonstone are some gemstones that enhance your creativity and strength.
Third Chakra (Solar Plexus/Manipura) – Located between your sternum and navel, responsible for self-esteem, intellect and willpower. Citrine bracelets help boost one’s manifestations and dreams.
Fourth Chakra (Heart/Anahata) – This chakra, located in the centre of your chest, is the origin of all emotions related to love and compassion. Wearing Rose Quartz jewellery will attract love while balancing out past pains.
Fifth Chakra (Throat/Vishuddi) – Also referred to as the Throat chakra, responsible for communication and expression. Using gemstones such as Turquoise and Lapis Lazuli will oblige you to communicate your truth.
Sixth Chakra (Third Eye/Ajna) – Located at the centre of your forehead, responsible for intuition. Amethyst spiritual jewellery is an exceptional choice as it develops wisdom keeping away negative thoughts.

5 YOGA POSES TO PROMOTE INNER PEACE
The benefits of Yogic practice are innumerable – from improving strength and balance to relieving back pain and relaxing your mind from stress to help you sleep better at night.
Here are five simple Yoga poses to incorporate into your lifestyle to promote inner peace:
1. Seated Meditation
Take a seat as comfortably as possible, with your back straight and arms resting on your knees. The goal for this position is to breathe in and out deeply for at least three minutes. With each exhale, feel yourself releasing your tension and worries. With each inhale, try focusing on your accomplishments.
2. Balasana (Child’s Pose)
Kneel on your mat, bend your body forward, allowing your torso to lean against your thighs as you stretch your arms forward, laying your head and palms on the mat. Take ten deep breaths as you slowly focus and centre on your intentions.
3. Tree Pose
Slowly move into a standing pose with your arms stretched above your head before joining your hands in a praying position. Lift your left or right leg and bend it so your foot is resting against your inner thigh. Close your eyes and breathe for a few moments, focusing on the rise and fall of your chest., while maintaining your centre of gravity.
4. Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Dog)
Spreading your fingers wide, place your palms on the mat, shoulder-width apart in front of you. Place your feet hip-width apart. Create an inverted ‘V’ form with your body by pushing your thighs back and reaching your hips up and back. Hold this position for as long as you can while taking deep breaths.
5. Savasana (Corpse Pose)
Lay down on your back, arms resting by your sides, palms facing upwards, legs apart with your eyes closed. Keep this position for five to eight minutes, allowing your muscles to relax with each exhale of your breath. To help you increase your focus while meditating, you can take the help of mala beads or mala bracelets, or choose from our catalogue on our website Maha Mala, where we offer a wide variety of options.

OCTOBER BIRTHSTONE
Pink Tourmaline is the birthstone of October and once upon a time, was mistaken for rubies, however, it is pinker in appearance when compared to its blood-red counterpart. Offering many benefits to the wearer, women are particularly drawn to Tourmaline gemstone jewellery as it carries feminine energies to heal and nurture emotional tendencies.
Significance of Pink Tourmaline across Cultures.
The term ‘tourmaline’ originates from the Sinhalese word turmali, meaning “a mixed colour precious stone”. According to ancient Egyptian legends, tourmaline appeared in all colours as it travelled along the rainbow’s path, harnessing the different shades and hues to finally settle on the most dominant quantity.
While another legend speaks of Tourmaline being connected to old knowledge, magicians in the Andes used it to make magical staffs. In India, they used this gemstone in ceremonies to seek out the good in things while providing insights into what could be causing troubles.
The Dutch strongly believed that wrapping this stone in silk and placing it on a child with a fever could help calm their pain and put them to sleep. Nowadays, it's commonly used by artists and those in the creative industry to increase intuitions and open the mind to feelings of inspiration.
Libra – Pink Tourmaline
The most peaceful, well-balanced and compromising of the zodiac signs, Libras are known to be a charming lot that inspires positive qualities in the lives of people around them. They are also said to be great leaders associated with exceptional communication skills. Enhancing feelings of love and self-awareness while counteracting grief, fear and emotions of instability, tourmaline would prove to be an extraordinary resource for our dear Libras.

Gayatri Mantra
If you’re unsure where to start, it’s vital to remember that there is no right or wrong way to chant. You can use simple syllables such as “Om”, “Aum” or “So Hum” which are said to be the original sounds of the universe and are infused with its power. Or you can also look for specific goal- oriented mantras by checking out deity or chakra healing mantras.
The Gayatri Mantra.
The Gayatri Mantra is one of the oldest and most powerful Sanskrit mantras. Originating from Goddess Gayatri, known as the Mother of all scriptures (Vedas) or ‘Veda-Mata’, she is a powerful being known to eliminate darkness by illuminating our minds with light. She is said to bless those who pray to her with pure thoughts. The Gayatri mantra is said to cleanse the chanter and listener of negative thoughts and bodily poisons, enhancing breathing and maintaining the health of your heart. As your body releases stress and anxiety with each exhalation, improved breathing helps you focus and learn more effectively.
Experience a calmer approach to your life with the daily recitation of the Gayatri mantra as you will be blessed with knowledge and protection by the Goddess. The Vedas state that the Gayatri Mantra is to be chanted at Satva between 4 am and 8 am and 4 pm and 8 am for the best results

NAVRATRI
Across the streets of India, you will notice a burst of vibrant, traditional ethnic wear, adorned with different kinds of spiritual jewellery such as prayer beads, Japa malas and much more!
According to legend, a powerful buffalo demon, Mahishasura, was blessed with immortality by Lord Brahma. With the confidence of immortality, Mahishasura attacked earth, heaven and hell with all his might as he knew only a woman could defeat him as that was the condition given by Brahma. The worried Gods prayed to Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva to defeat the enemy as they didn’t stand a chance against the demon. Lord Vishnu created a woman as according to the boon, only a woman would defeat Mahishasura, Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma poured all their powers into this woman, and she came to be known as Goddess Durga, a reincarnation of Goddess Parvati who was the wife of Lord Shiva. After a battle that lasted for 15 days and was said to have shaken earth, heaven and hell, she defeated the demon, and this celebration came to be known as Navratri.
Each day of Navratri is considered very auspicious and is dedicated to one of the nine forms of Durga. The symbolism and significance run deep in the Hindu culture, people observe fasts and pray religiously for blessings. Hindus even decorate their houses and wear outfits of a specific colour as these colours represent the different forms of Durga. The nine colours are orange, white, red, royal blue, yellow, green, grey, purple and peacock green.
Wondering what to give your family and friends this Navratri? You can buy a Durga mala or Durga bracelet, a thoughtful gift to celebrate this auspicious occasion.
