Chapter 4: Soldier Girl Tell 'Em - Sonya Blade

Andrius (Narrator): “In this chapter, we start out at the Fire Temple, where Liu Kang is informing Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Kenshi Takahashi, Kung Jin, and Raiden about Shang Tsung, Megan Shang, Cyrus Shang, and Margaritari Verena. Sonya and Raiden already know due to Liu Kag telling them Megan and Margaritari’s backstory at the feast, but the rest didn’t hear. Plus, while he told them about Megan and Margaritari, he didn’t tell them about the Shang Tsung and Cyrus side of the story.”

Sonya: “So we find them in Outworld and bring them in for questioning?”

Liu Kang: “Yes, though Shang Tsung is the important one here. While Megan and Cyrus are powerful, I feel as though Shang Tsung is the one who is the main threat to the timeline, and him working with Megan and Cyrus makes him more of a threat. If what I fear has happened, they are truly grave threats to the realms, should their goals come into fruition.”

Kenshi: “Anything else?”

Liu Kang: “Shang Tsung is a master of deceit. Do not trust a single word that he utters. Megan, Cyrus, and Margaritari on the other hand are a little more trustworthy.”

Johnny: “This Shang Tsung guy sounds a lot like my first agent.”

Sonya: “This sounds like a tricky mission, Lord Liu Kang. Can’t Kung Lao come with me instead of Johnny and Kenshi? Surely he would be more useful on this mission with him being champion.”

Johnny: “Hey, this one is up for the job!” Johnny shouts, Kenshi choosing to ignore Sonya’s words, focusing more on hearing more about the mission at hand. Not wanting to deal with Johnny, Sonya ignores him, as she also was focused on the mission at hand.

Liu Kang: “It is because Kung Lao is the champion that he cannot come with you on this mission. Because he was the one who participated in and won the tournament, he is a recognized face in Outworld. If someone were to spot him sneaking around Outworld, Empress Sindel would not take too kindly to it as I would be breaking my word for sending you without her knowledge. With this in mind, this mission must be done quietly.” The fire god then takes out some weird object that had a glowing stone inside of it.

Liu Kang: “This talisman is attuned to Shang Tsung’s chi, follow it to him. Do be careful, Cyrus is his son, so as a result they share chi. This wouldn’t be an issue, if it wasn’t for Cyrus having stayed with his grandmother Margaritari in Sun Do for the rest of the tournament.” He warns them.

Andrius (Narrator): “We now cut to Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Kenshi Takahashi, Kung Jin, and Raiden trekking across Outworld’s desert, on their way to bring the Shang’s in for questioning.”

Johnny: “Ugh! Are we there yet?”

Sonya: “Again? How old are you? Five?”

Johnny: “What can I say? These boots weren’t exactly meant for walking.”

Kung Jin: “If that is the worst you feel today, consider yourself lucky.”

Johnny: “Oh, don’t you worry yourself Jin, I already am lucky! I’ve got Sento strapped to my back.”

Sonya: “A sword that you shouldn’t even have, Johnny!”

Kenshi: “I agree with Sonya, Johnny. That is my family blade and I will reclaim it, one way or another.”

Sonya: “Oh really? Because if you have three million bucks and it's all yours!”

Kenshi: “You know that I don’t have it, Sonya!”

Johnny: “I bet you’re Yakuza buddies could come up with the money.” The actor mumbles to himself. In typical Johnny fashion, this mumbling wasn’t as quiet as he thought, causing Kenshi to snap.

Kenshi: “The Yakuza are leeches! Bleeding out anyone weak enough to resist! While I grew up in that life, I never understood it… Why must my gain require others’ pain? I was fortunate enough to be able to escape their grasp, I need my family and clan out as well!” The swordsman interrogates, flashlight shining into Johnny’s face. As this is happening, the talisman starts to glow. Raiden notices this, and speaks up to Kenshi about it.

Raiden: “Uhm, Kenshi? The talisman is glowing. If what Lord Liu Kang said was true, that must mean that Shang Tsung is near.”

Kung Jin: “Yeah. While Lord Liu Kang said that the talisman could also pick up Cyrus’ chi as a result of him being Cyrus’ son, Sun Do is still a good distance away. Far enough where I can’t spot it from here anyway.” The archer thinks out loud. With this in mind, the Earthrealm group walks in the direction that the talisman was pointing, Kenshi leading the way, him being that one that was holding the glowing green object. As they pass Johnny, Sonya takes this chance to shine her own flashlight into Johnny’s face, as she still didn’t like Johnny, but was going along with him for the mission at hand, Johnny following behind Raiden and Kung Jin who were following Sonya and Kenshi.

Andrius Nils (Narrator): “As they continue, they happen upon a Tarkatan Kamp, located in a cliffside within Outworld’s desert. The group stops to eye the strange camp when the talisman begins to glow again.”

Johnny: “So, what’s our precious saying?”

Sonya: “It’s “saying” that our sorcerer should be down there somewhere among those creatures.”

Johnny: “My fans are going to go crazy cosplaying them at Cage Con!” The actor quietly exclaims.

Kung Jin: “They do look rather interesting. I preferably don’t really want to get too close to them though. They’re teeth and claws look like they could shred anything in seconds, and I don’t want to be on the other end of them.” The archer whispers. Before anyone else could say anything they see one of the creatures being dragged out by Kage and another armored person from Shao’s army.

Raiden: “Wait, why are Kage and another one of Shao’s soldiers here? And messing with these… creatures?” He mumbles. As the thunder lad says this, a man in yellow walks up behind Kage, the soldier and the Tarkatan.

Shang Tsung: “Hold him still! If he squirms, I cannot extract marrow.”

Kenshi: “That’s Shang Tsung!”

Sonya: “Let’s jump him once he’s done.”

Johnny: “Oh! That reminds me! In “Fists of Iron” we did this thing where-”

Kung Jin: “We’re not basing our strategy on one of your movies, Johnny”

Baraka: “Let me go! Was killing my family and village not enough? Apparently contracting a deadly disease wasn’t enough to drive you or her away, is it?”

Shang Tsung: “It seems not. And don’t you dare speak ill of Megan near me again. Unless you want me to let her finally kill you.”

Baraka: “At this stage of my life I would welcome that.”

Shang Tsung: “I’m sure your illness will claim you soon enough. Now hold still.” The sorcerer mutters, plunging a thick needle into Baraka’s neck, extracting the marrow that he sought. Once the needle is out of the Tarkatans neck, Baraka slices the soldier that Kage had come with, causing a fight to break out between the Tarkatans and the rest of the Sun Do army that Kage had brought with, Baraka fighting with Shang Tsung and Kage.

Johnny Cage: “You know, on second thought, I think this scene is playing out just fine without us.”

Kung Jin: “Yeah, I say we let them finish it. They do appear to have more manpower than we do, and on both sides for that matter.”

Sonya: “I hate to say this, but we need to save Shang Tsung and Kage from those things. Liu Kang needs them alive for questioning. If we let them die here then we won’t have intel.” The soldier then jumps down and begins fighting off all of the Tarkatans, holding back Baraka long enough for Kage and Shang Tsung to escape. The rest of the Earthrealmers follow, Baraka attempting to fight them off from Sonya’s hold. To escape, Shang Tsung shifts into a form resembling some of the Tarkatans before darting off, Kage teleporting off to the Shang’s Mansion to where Megan was with Mileena and Tanya.

Raiden: “How on Earth did he do that?” Raiden questions as Baraka manages to break free from Sonya’s grasp. At this, Kenshi runs to aid Sonya, seeing how formidable the Tarkatans, and especially Baraka, were.

Baraka: “”I would’ve finally killed him, if not for you, woman!”

Kenshi: “We understand why you would want to, but you can’t!”

Sonya: “Back off Takahashi! You led us here, now allow me to handle this! I’m the one that held him back long enough for Shang Tsung and Kage to escape.”

Kenshi: “I know and I thank you for that. I just thought you could use a little help.”

Sonya: “Why would you help me? Because I’m poor? Because I’m a woman? I’ll have you know I grew up in a strong and proud military family-”

Baraka: “You two are his minions, aren’t you!? Whether one or both of you fight me, you will die in his place!”

Kenshi: “Sorry if I overstepped, Blade. If you want to fight him on your own, then don’t let me stop you.” The swordsman sasses before running off to slice down some of the other Tarkatans as Sonya defeats Baraka, which causes all of the other Tarkatans to pause in their own fighting, seeing that their leader had lost.

Sonya: “Now, please, allow us to explain why we’re here!”

Johnny: “Yeah, you got us into this hotshot, now how about getting us out?”

Sonya: “That’s what I’m trying to do, Johnny!”

Kenshi: “We know what this looks like, but we don’t work for Shang Tsung.”

Baraka: “If you don’t work for him, then why save him? Why save Kage? You don’t look like Outworlders, so out with it!”

Sonya: “Because, Liu Kang, Earthrealm’s protector, wants to bring him and Megan in for questioning. Liu Kang believes that if they were to gain the power that they desire, they could be a threat to both of our realms, and possibly others. I’m Sonya Blade, former member of Earthrealm’s Special Forces.” The military woman states, offering a hand to the strange, spiked leader, causing Baraka to scoff.

Baraka: “Our kind do not shake hands.”

Sonya: “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend.” Sonya apologizes, retracting her hand.

Baraka: “You don’t know who or what we are, do you?”

Raiden: “No, we don’t. We didn’t even know you were here until Liu Kang sent us here looking for Shang Tsung.”

Baraka: “We are victims of Tarkat. It is a disease of which no one knows from where or whom it started from. The disease is not so easily gotten unless bitten, but you probably don’t want to risk any more close exposure.” This causes the Earthrealm group to rub their hands against their shirts, afraid that the disease might have gotten on them from fighting as Baraka continues.

Baraka: “The disease disfigures, then it debilitates. In time, all of us that you see here and possibly more will be turned into blood-crazed and blood-thirsty beasts. At this point, death is our only salvation.”

Kung Jin: “So you weren’t always like this?”

Baraka: “I was once a wealthy Outworld merchant. Once I became rich, me and my family moved to a peaceful canton within Outworld where we owned a farm. That was until my wife and daughter grew ill. Just in the knick of time, I encountered Shang Tsung who claimed that he had cures for any disease. Desperate, I took his offer. When I returned, I gave my family the medicine they needed, and we rested soon after. The next morning however, when I awoke, my wife and daughter were no longer conscious nor breathing. Panicked, I took them to Andrius, Sun Do’s medic and a good friend of mine who had just come back from an expedition, which is why I didn’t go to him first. When Andrius examined my family’s recently deceased bodies, he discovered that Shang Tsung didn’t give me any sort of medicine, but just some fancy tea! Enraged, I let Andrius handle my family’s bodies while I handled Shang Tsung in one of the cantons that neighbored mine and consulted him in front of other people that he was trying to swindle just as he had swindled me. Unfortunately for me though, Megan, Shang Tsung’s wife, girlfriend at the time I imagine just happened to walk up when a fight had broken out and slaughtered the entire village with her magic. I managed to get away, though barely as Shang Tsung let me escape her, probably because he knew he already guessed what had happened to my family and wanted me to suffer. After Andrius helped me with having a funeral for my family, me and a few of my remaining friends went on an expedition to clear our heads. The expedition was going great until we neared Outworld’s desert, where we were attacked by a creature who looked much like we do now, but was more ferocious and vicious with a mix of malice and fear of seeing a large group after being in the desert for Argus and Delia knows how long. Ever since I’ve set up kamp here where I run this colony, taking in those who have also been infected. I am Baraka.”

Kung Jin: “Have you talked to Andrius about this? I’m sure if he helped you with your family then he would help you.”

Baraka: “I’m sure he would, but Tarkatans aren’t allowed in or near the capital. While Andrius does leave the capital to help those outside of it, I doubt he would come this way knowing that us Tarkatans are threats. Though according to those who have recently been infected and came out of Sun Do claim that Andrius has been working on a cure for Tarkat for a while now, so hopefully he’s able to come up with something.”

Kenshi: “That’s good to hear, but what does Shang Tsung want with your bone marrow, Baraka?”

Baraka: “I don’t know, but he comes here once a month to harvest it.”

Sonya: “if you release us we’ll capture Shang Tsung and Megan. We’ll figure out why he’s been coming here, we promise.” Baraka then looks around, looking between the Earthrealmers and his colony.

Baraka: “Let them go.”

Kung Jin: “Thank you, Baraka. We won’t let you down!” Jin shouts as Kenshi pulls out the talisman.

Kenshi: “Damn it! This talisman was leading us to Shang Tsung, but we’ve let him escape so now we can’t find him.”

Baraka: “His laboratory is nearby. I can take you to it.”

Kung Jin: “Do you have any ideas on what we should expect once we’re inside?”

Baraka: “No. I’ve never been inside it myself.”

Kenshi: “Stay here, Baraka, we’ll check it out. You’ve dealt with them enough.” The swordsman comforts as the Earthrealmers head towards the bridge that was in front of the mansion.

Andrius (Narrator): “The five Earthrealmers then sneak their way inside of the giant mansion that sat in the middle of a large oasis, greenery surrounding the structure.”

Johnny (whispering): “Man this place is massive! It’s not as fancy as my mansion was, but I admire the aesthetic! Fancy, but in a nice old-fashioned way.” As the Earthrealmers continue, they hear Shang Tsung’s voice, confirming that he was there. Once they get to where they can see who’s there, they see Shang Tsung, Megan (who was using her magic to calm Mileena down), Mileena, Tanya, and Kage.

Shang Tsung (in the distance): “The addition of crushed Kytinn larvae proved to be an excellent choice. In testing, outcomes of the serum improved significantly. I have modified the formula since the last time that I administered it to her, as it uses several new ingredients. This new formula is precisely what we need as its effects will now be more immediate and long-lasting.”

Tanya: “How can you be so sure?”

Shang Tsung: “Because it was brewed using freshly extracted Tarkatan marrow. And from the leader of their colony no less. It couldn’t be any more potent.”

Raiden (whispering): “They’re infecting Mileena with Tarkat!?

Sonya (whispering): “And they’ve got two of Sindel’s top soldiers in on it.”

Kung Jin (whispering): “No wonder Liu Kang was worried about these two.”

Kenshi (whispering): “If that is truly what they’re doing, we need to stop them.”

Johnny (whispering): “Saving a damsel in distress? Heh, I think I can do that.” The actor jokes quietly. The five then rush out from behind the small wall from which they were hiding behind, ready to fight Shang Tsung and those around him, rescuing Mileena.

Sonya: “Get away from her!”

Johnny: “You bitch!”

Kung Jin: “Excuse me!?”

Johnny: “You know, like in the movie! Small girl, huge creature “Ripley!”” But everyone on the Earthrealm side either shakes their head no, or shaking their head in embarrassment;tired of Johnny’s antics.

Johnny: “No? Seriously?”

Megan: “Eartrealmers!? Tsung, dearest, how in the realms did they find us?” Megan sneers.

Kage: “However they may have got here, they have already seen too much to just leave them be and send them back!” Kage then rushes towards the Earthrealm group, attacking the first one she got to, which happened to be Johnny, the flash of his phone having drawn her in his direction to attack him, Raiden helping the actor to fight the pink oni off. While Johnny and Raiden are busy with Kage, Sonya attacks Shang Tsung, kicking the syringe full of serum from his hand, causing it to shatter on the floor.

Shang Tsung: “I need time! Megan, love, you stay where you are, we need Mileena calm! Tanya, do you mind buying it for me? Help Kage in fighting off the Earthrealmers!”

Tanya: “Anything that helps save the princess.” The Umgadi agrees as Shang Tsung runs off to get some more of the serum. “Lord Liu Kang sent you, didn’t he? Sent you to learn all of our dirty little secrets?”

Sonya: “He sent us for Shang Tsung and Megan. It looks like they're just a part of the problem here.” Before Tanya can explain or rebuttal, Sonya begins a fight, defeating the yellow-embroidered Umgadi easily. “Seems like Sun Do’s High Priestess is brought low.” The soldier mumbles as she runs over to help Johnny and Raiden with Kage, Kenshi having been knocked out by the demoness.

Kage: “Admiring the swordsman’s body on the floor? I will admit, I do like his aesthetic. But don’t think that will grant you any mercy, human!”

Sonya: “And here I thought soldiers were supposed to be loyal to their countries. But here you are, an oni who’s left the Netherrealm to serve Outworld, only to betray them as well? Just when I thought we were friends, Kage!”

Kage: “Silence, mortal! You know nothing! Nothing about me, and nothing about things going on in Outworld! Here or in Sun Do!” Unlike with the fight against Tanya, the fight against Kage takes a little more time and energy for Sonya to defeat, thanks to Kage being an oni, making her stronger and more powerful than even Justus, namely due to Justus not being born a Vaternian, while Kage’s been an oni her whole long life.

Sonya: “You're right, I don’t know everything, but from what I see, it looks awfully suspicious.”

Kenshi: “Which means that if I were you two, I’d move away from that operating table.” The swordsman threatens, getting up and taking out his sword. This causes Megan to lighten her magic from Mileena a bit, ready in case the Earthrealmers dared to try to fight her.

Shang Tsung: “This is twice that you have been a thorn in our sides. You Earthrealmers do tend to have unhealthy habits.”

Johnny: “You heard them, you’re not infecting her with Tarkat!”

Megan: “No one said that we were, Earthrealmer!” Megan sneers, walking downstairs.

Shang Tsung: “We are trying to protect her, not infect her!” Shang Tsung adds as Megan walks over to him.

Kenshi: “We heard how you tend to lie, so sorry if we’re a bit skeptical. Cover them for me, would you?” He remarks as he runs up the stairs to check on Mileena.

Sonya: “Oh, no you don’t!” Sonya yells, running after Kenshi. “Who says you get to be in control of this mission? Just because Liu Kang gave you the talisman? I have more experience leading than you do, you know.”

Kenshi: “I am aware of that, but I can still play my part in helping the princess! I’ve seen enough people get hurt in my day, especially by people like them! Just maybe not as long lived or magical.”

Sonya: “None of us have faced magical threats before. Hell, the fight with Justus was my first encounter of anything magical or supernatural. I had always thought that type stuff to be a myth. Something you see in a movie or video game, but not in real life, and definitely in a place I once considered home.”

Kenshi: “On that we can agree.” He nods as Sonya turns towards Mileena.

Sonya: “Princess Mileena, are you okay? You can wake up now.” Sonya whispers, enough for Mileena to hear, causing the pink-clad princess to awake.

Mileena: “Is it over?”

Kenshi: “Yes. You are safe.”

Mileena: “Where is Megan? Why isn’t she above me? Did she go back to Sun Do to be with her mother, son, and brother? Did Tanya and Kage go back to Sun Do with her?”

Sonya: “Don’t worry, they are all still here. We’ve stopped them and Shang Tsung from hurting you, so you’re free to-”

Mileena: “Stopped them!? But why!?” The princess asks, a pained expression in her voice as her Tarkat begins to show, Mileena’s eyes, teeth, and nails becoming sharp, the pain causing her to squirm and twitch.

Kenshi: “Princess! Princess, are you alright? What’s happening!?”

Megan: “What’s happening is that her Tarkat is transforming her into one of the beasts that roam the desert. That is because you stopped us from injecting the serum which was supposed to suppress her Tarkat so that she can still rule Sun Do in peace. While my husband can recreate the serum, it will take some time, so you’ll have to hold her back and make sure she doesn’t kill or maim anyone, since you five were so keen on breaking in and disrupting things.” She explains as Mileena’s pained screams continue to ring out throughout the mansion. Soon after Megan's explanation, the screams stop, being replaced by feral growls, Shang Tsung continuing to quickly remake Mileena’s Tarkat serum.

Megan: “Do you believe us now, Earthrealmers?”

Kung Jin: “Uh, yeah, I'll believe you on the Tarkat stuff. But don't think we'll trust you with anything else though. Not unless we don’t have a choice or you have proof to back up your words like you do now.”

Kenshi: “How’s that serum holding up? Not to rush your progress anymore than it is, but we could really use that serum.”

Shang Tsung: “I’m going as fast as I can without risk of messing up. Megan, try to use your magic to quell her as best as you can.”

Megan: “I’ll try.” Megan nods, summoning green energy from her palms, sending it around the raging princess. While it calms Mileena down enough for her to not to attack anyone and everyone, she did still crave blood due to her Tarkat, causing her to attack Sonya, who happened to be the closest to the princess.

Sonya: “Easy, princess. You’ll be alright, just let us help you. Megan’s already calmed you down, allow us to calm you further.”

Mileena: “Calm me further? The ones who stopped them in the first place? I’ll allow Megan to calm me down, once I’ve tasted your flesh, Earthrealmer!” A few scratches and avoiding bites later, Sonya manages to calm Mileena down a little further, but even the combination of that and Megan’s magic isn’t enough to fully stop Mileena in her hunger.

Sonya: “Kenshi! Megan! Can you give me a hand?” The two nod, Megan putting her dislike of Earthrealmers to the side for a moment, seeing the bigger issue at hand.

Megan: “It’s now or never, darling!” Megan yells, but before Shang Tsung can make it over with the serum, Mileena breaks out of Megan, Kenshi, and Sonya’s grasp. Megan and Sonya manage to get away from Mileena’s ire, Megan being a friend of Mileena’s, and Sonya having just fought her, but Kenshi isn’t so lucky, Mileena managing to find and grab her sais, impaling Kenshi in his eyes, blinding him, Shang Tsung managing to get the syringe needle into Mileena’s neck after Mileena lands from attacking Kenshi and before she has the time or thought of attacking anyone else or hurting Kenshi further, the serum fully calming her down, the princess now resting.

Sonya: “Kenshi!” But Megan puts a hand on Sonya’s shoulder, sensing Kitana’s presence within the mansion.

Kitana: “By the Elder Gods! Mileena!” Kitana screams, worried for her sister.

Kitana: “What in the hells did you two do to her!?” She spits, turning to where Shang Tsung and Megan were standing, Megan having walked over to her husband when she felt Kitana’s presence.

Megan: “We were trying to help her. It started as all of her other appointments have, Tsung making sure that the serum is perfect while I calmed her with my magic. That was until these Earthrealmers broke into our mansion, sent by Lord Liu Kang himself to disrupt Mileena’s treatment, and to scandalize Outworld by revealing her illness.”

Johnny: “What!? That is totally fake news, lady! Princess, we were only trying to-” But before the actor could utter another word, he is hit with a gigantic warhammer, Megan taking out the other Earthrealmers with her magic.

Shao: “Thank you, Megan. I have no stomach for Earthrealm lies.”

Megan: “You and me both, General. It was my honor.”

Kitana: “Is what Megan said true, Shang Tsung? I know Megan has a biased when it comes to Earthrealmers due to her past so-”

Shang Tsung: “Rest assured, princess, every bit of what Megan said is the truth. You’d do well to quell your judging tongue.”

Kitana: “You’re right, my apologies, Megan. I was just shocked that the Earthrealmers would do such a thing after seeming so friendly during Sun Do’s festivities… but seeing as the Earthrealmers minus Kung Lao and Liu Kang himself, I can;t help but to see the truth in your words. Again, my apologies.”

Shao: “A wise choice, Kitana. Should we detain the Earthrealmers and Tarkatan that we found outside? At least until the Empress can assess them and respond to this incursion?”

Kitana: “Yes, we should.” The Outworld general then snaps his fingers, allowing Reiko and the other soldiers that came with Shao to grab the Earthrealmers, carrying them away.

Shao: “Surely you and Sindel must realize that this little incident proves their bad faith. We must strike back now as a defensive counter, lest Earthrealm strikes again.” As Shao finishes speaking his thoughts, a purple portal appears, a tall man with spiky clothing walking out of it.

Quan Chi: “A fine idea, General. After all, this does prove my prophecy does prove to be true, it would be best to act on it. If left alone, Liu Kang could conquer Outworld.”

Megan: “While Mileena, Kage, and Tanya are fine, the threat that Earthrealm poses to Outworld remains. As Shao proposed, it must be dealt with. I know from experience, Earthrealmers can be cruel and merciless beasts, should we leave them undealt with.”

Shang Tsung: “Yes. Quan Chi, when do you anticipate they will strike next?”

Quan Chi: “Soon. Today’s events were just a taste for them, and were foretold in the final quatrains of the prophecy that was told to me.”

Shao: “Then I am right in my thinking. We must act now, princess. Should Quan Chi be correct a second time, we must be prepared.”

Kitana: “And we will be, General, once I take the news of this to the Empress. While I have my thoughts on the matter here today, it is for my mother to decide what happens next. Kage, Tanya, glad you see that you two are awake and ok. Come with me to help take Mileena back to Sun Do.” The two nod, aiding the blue-clad princess in lifting Mileena’s unconscious body, Kage opening a portal for the four to enter through, leading them to Sun Do.

Shao: “So, what truly happened here, sorcerers? I know what you told Kitana couldn’t have been the whole truth.” Shao inquires once Kage’s portal closes, not wanting Kitana to hear.

Megan: “That’s because it wasn’t.”

Shang Tsung: “That the Earthrealmers interrupted Mileena’s treatment today was pure happenstance.”

Megan: “You see, they were here to capture us for Liu Kang. I overheard it when I was making sure that everything went well when Tsung went to get the Tarkat marrow.”

Shao: “But why would they be after you two?”

Shang Tsung: “Of that we aren’t sure of, but we will be sure to investigate.”

Megan: “For now though, let us revel in our good fortune. The Earthrealmers’ arrival gives us ample evidence to prove to Sindel the truth of Quan Chi’s prophecy.”

Quan Chi: “Conflict with Earthrealm will now be inevitable.”

Megan: “I’m not so sure though. While we have our evidence, we have to remember that Sindel isn’t usually eager for conflict.”

Shang Tsung: “If she resists, she can be easily replaced.”

Shao: “It’s about time that Outworld had a truly strong and steadfast leader.”

Megan: “Point is, either Sindel sees our evidence and acts on it, or we will act on it for her. While I’m not one to want to disappoint the Empress, seeing as she took me and my family in, what the Earthrealmers did here today only proves how bloodthirsty Earthrealmers truly are, even after all this time, and they must be dealt with.”

Shao: “Then it is decided. Kill the Earthrealmers. We mustn’t let them report back to Liu Kang.”

Quan Chi: “Their deaths will fuel the ire between the realms. Two birds, one stone.”

Shang Tsung: “Oh, how our benefactor will be pleased.”

Megan: “Kronika needs both realms to be at war, not just at the brink of it. Then she will be able to conquer them amongst the chaos. Only then will we have the opportunity to rule them both.”

Quan Chi: “If Kronika hadn’t found me, languishing in the Outworld mines, I could only imagine such a thought. Such a dream, that at one time felt so distant, one that is within our reach. We will be transformed from peasants to nobility, just as we rightfully deserve."

(Author’s Note: I imagine that Liu Kang’s talisman’s default color would be red, which is the color that I associate with Liu Kang. My headcanon is that when Liu Kang asks the talisman to track down someone, it turns into a color associated with that person. As Shang Tsung is associated with green thanks to souls being green in the MK universe, I feel that the talisman would glow green when Liu Kang asked it to track Shang Tsung.)
