died and came back exactly the same but something was so so so wrong with me before and now I have an excuse to really lean into it

do you like/have you ever thought about writing for any other hrpf ships aside from sid/geno? nothing wrong if not, just curious! :0

i've actually written several ships outside of sidgeno! i've got two sidovi ficlets somewhere on this blog, and on ao3 i have....three?....fics published that are not exclusively sidgeno too!

however at heart i am a monoshipper. i have always been that way. sometimes one-off prompts will appeal to me and i'll put something together (although there are some ships i will NEVER write, i've answered asks when i get prompts for them so the person who sent them knows i'm not the right target and they can find someone else who might fill it for them), but it's always gonna be something little and quick. the vast majority of my creative energy is spent on sidgeno!

I participated in the Sidgeno exchange once years ago but when the fics were revealed it honestly felt like all the big blogs that all know each other just praised each others works to the high heavens while everyone else was pushed to the back/ignored... That made it very unattractive for me personally and I haven't felt the urge to write any sid geno since

i’m sorry you had a bad experience with it! as i’ve only been around the last couple seasons i can’t really attest to the way this fandom operated when you participated, i can only speak to my own time here: when i dipped my toes into pensblr summer before last i felt immediately welcomed even though i didnt know anyone or have ~connections with any of the big blogs. i posted a fic before i even really knew who to follow here, and was almost immediately supported by other sidgeno fic writers.

my experience might not be everyone’s, but generally i’ve found this fandom to be friendly and open and excited when new people join the community.

re: the sidgeno exchange specifically, i participated last year and had a great time. coming from a very large fandom previous to this, it was a nice surprise to see how many people made it a point to read and comment on every fic before the authors were revealed. i think its natural that some writers with bigger followings will get more attention than others (that’s just math, baby), but to me that gesture spoke to the feeling of community between fic writers here.

if you feel comfortable / have the desire, i hope you might try again and see if this version of the sidgeno fandom is a better fit for you.

Hi. I didn’t draw this for it to be ‘good art’ or ‘correct anatomy’. The only reason I drew this is so I could stare at it and daydream about my little scenarios. You’re welcome to stare at it and daydream about your little scenarios, too, if you like.

Anyway Headcanon that Geno likes to chew on Sid’s back/shoulder while he ruts against him and Sid is Into It™️.

Sid’s posted up at the hotel bar with what seems like half of Hockey Canada talking his ear off when Team Russia walks in, and practically before he registers what he’s smelling his head has snapped around to watch them cross the lobby.

Whoever he was talking to chuckles, but Sid’s not paying attention, not when an omega who smells like that just walked into the building.

He narrows his eyes, glancing over the coaching staff and dismissing them out of hand—times have changed from when Sid was regularly playing against the Russians, but there’s no way they’d give an omega such a prominent, public-facing role. It could be a player, there have been rumors, but practices would be closed even if the omega they brought with them was nothing more than a waterboy.

Ah. There.

Sid squints, waiting impatiently for—woah, that player is really tall, Sid’s pretty sure that’s the guy that went fifth overall to Philly the year before, no way he’s only 6’3”—but once he moves out of the way he gets eyes on a pretty blonde woman, probably shorter than Sid by half a foot and absolutely stacked. Nice.

Sid pulls out his phone and starts typing. Practices are closed when there are omegas involved, sure, but if there’s anywhere he can throw his name around and get let into a facility when he shouldn’t, it’s in Halifax. He’s gotta meet that omega

The SportsNet broadcast just noted that Andy O’Brien told them Sid’s resting heart rate is around 35 to 38 beats per minute. 

According to MayoClinic.com: A normal resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. Generally, a lower heart rate at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. For example, a well-trained athlete might have a normal resting heart rate closer to 40 beats per minute.

And Sid is at 35 to 38. (As one of the commentators said, “Are you even still alive?”)
