Reference this theory for an SMP I'm in? I play a half sculk / half human named Oliver and I love this so much. Realistically? Yeah,, for the aesthetic.

But lore wise? You've completely convinced me, and I havent played Minecraft in ages so I've been astonished by the existence of Allays. Like I UNDERSTOOD that despite knowing nothing of the latest.

so. music disc 5, huh?

under a read more because this got lengthy. this is about how the sounds got on music disc 5 more so than the actual content of disc 5, although the sound is somewhat relavent.

y'know what's weird about music disc 5? (and discs 11 and 13, although this post isn't about those discs)

music disc 5 is a recording of something that presumably happened in the ancient city before becoming "ancient", right?

who was recording?

there's no way it was the "players" or "ancient builders" or whatever you want to call them. they were busy with making many of the sounds present in disc 5. (i'm gonna call them players since "ancient builders" is a bit of a mouthful, but know i generally mean the characters that would have built the generated structures)

disc 5 is one of three discs to have a more distinct appearance with it's blue edge, with the other two being pigstep, which has a red record with a yellow label (presumably because it's made from netherrack and gold bc the overworld materials wouldn't be available), and disc 11, which is the broken disc if i'm not mistaken.

the sculk generally have the color of blue that's featured on disc 5, and while this could just be to make the disc match the sculk & deep dark's aesthetic...

what if the sounds on music disc 5 were "recorded" by the sculk via the sculk spreading onto the shards like we see it do on blocks when entities die on it? not only would it explain the blue edge of the disc from an in-universe standpoint, but the sculk is also a sound reliant entity, with sculk shriekers summoning the warden as well as sculk sensors listening for sound to activate redstone, which means the sculk is already indirectly linked to music discs via sound.

there's also the fact that, if i remember right(i could be mistaken), but someone on the minecraft team confirmed that sculk we semi-sentient, didn't they? if not, disregard this paragraph entirely, lmao. but that means that the sculk could theoretically have some ability to retain auditory memory, which managed to then find it's way onto the music disc? bit of a stretch, i know, but i mean... it makes more sense than one of the players just recording the sounds on a disc when their whole livelihood was being threatened.

theoretically, this could also mean discs 11 and 13 were also "recorded" by the sculk, although there's not really as much, if any, evidence supporting that since disc 13 is a normal looking disc, and both discs are normal mechanic-wise, on account of existing before the implementation (or even the concept) of the sculk.
