"What happen In our Demo Day"

Final pitching is considered to be the most important for us as an start-up because this point we are dealing with our investor to invest with us through our potential product. We need to convince them to invest. To do that we need to demostrate our product and to explain to them well the potentials. So, now the day that we are waiting and preparing for had come and we must be ready for it.

BUT What happen in our Demo Day? This is the most interesting to talk with. Now lets begin during the time that we are so busy. At first I already share in my last blog the sensitivity of our product. It must be different Hertz in order to work our product. The night before the demo day we continue making our product by adding more fearures and design in order to get the attention for the user and we are happy because even though our sleepness night but we actually made it. In the morning we are now ready to go to school to present our product. But when we try it again our product seems to be not functional. All the adaptor are not functioning well. And one of the mystery is that the indicator did reverse and for us it is impossible to happen. The worse thing is that we are the first pitcher to defense our product. And again our product did not work properly. We are so worried. We try to fix the adaptors and the last adaptor get shorted because of the unsafety doings and everyone get struggled to what to do. It is our last chance. But happily our first adaptor get fuctional again. After fixing our product we directly go to school we dont even eat our breakfast.

The sad thing is that we are not going to present our pitch deck because we take up so long that our investor waited for us. So, we are going to present our pitch deck joining the next presentor which is EE 4A sectionB. And luckily the investor there is not so strick in questioning us compared in our sections Investor.

But there is a reason why those things happen to you. Failure and tragedy are by design. They are part of nature’s chisel, chipping away at us in an attempt to improve our lives. However, it doesn’t happen by sitting around and feeling sorry for yourself. You have to turn that mess into a message. You might not realize it today, but there is a grand design.

"Making Our Final Pitch"

For this week we are making our pitch deck in preparation for the demo day. This is the content of our pitch deck :

We were developing product that we will help us to monitor our unplugged appliances. According to Payless Power unplugged appliances is the number one reason of contributing on consuming your electricity usage. Up to 10% of your electric usage is coming from the unplugged appliances. Other than having higher electric bill. Leaving your appliances plug in in your home can cost all sort of hazzard. Including increased fired risk.

From Jan. 1 to Dec. 27 last year .Bureua of fire protection recorded 14,317 fired occoured in the ph. And it is .84 percent higher compared to the same period last 2017. And one the reason of that is unplugged appliances. With that we would like to introduce the O.M.D. or Outlet Monitoring Device that will help us to monitor our unplugged appliances and also help us to decreased our electric bill up to 10%. For example your electric bill is 2000 pesos so you can save up to 200 pesos. Another perks of this is to help to us decreased the fire risk in our home. We all know our home the soft place where we can land at the end of the day that support and provide a shelter in our family. So protecting home is also your family. Our family is important to us. We do all of this because for our family. right ?

There is many product wanted to solve this problem. But let me defferntiate the O.M.D to the other product. First in terms of price. The other product can cost of 1008 pesos and you having one adaptor. And in O.M.D it cost 2000 pesos but you having 1 monitoring board and 6 adaptor. Second is how to install the product.

The other product is you need to ..read So you need to follow another instruction and most of us don't want complicated things. But in O.M.D. All you need to do is two steps First is.. Read Second is. ..

And there you have it you can use the O.M.D.

Our product is very convient to the user because it is very easy to use.

Third is there advantage.

On the other product you can use it or control it even if you are mile away from it. But ... There is a but of that.

Before you can use there product you need to have a phone and an internet connection in your phone and in your home. In the Ph only 20% have an internet connection in their phone and less than 15% have internet on their home. Aside from that when you will used this product you will consumed much more energy because you need to turn on everytime. So higher consumed energy result to higher electric bill.

But in O.M.D you don't need to use wifi.

Another perks of our product is to have an extra feature. Peole like to buy when there is an extra. We like to buy , buy 1 take 1,

O.M.D also have an extra, it has key holder , everyone have key right. And it has a mirror.. According to a study , most common we do before leaving our home is to make sure our face is clean so we like to see a mirror everytime we leave in our home. So it gives more interaction beetween the user and O.M.D.

Now lets talk about the target customer of this product. We conduct our own survey and 58 out of 69 of our respondent expirienced this problem and most of that respondent are in a middle class.

And in the ph we have 21, 490,000 million household.

And 9,870,000 of that is in the middle class

And our group would like to target 15% of that so we can have a target customer of 1,480,500

So.. our market place here is very wide.

How about the reveneu of this product ?

Our O.M.D is cost 2000 pesos if we can sell it We can have a net income of 500. So if we can sell 50 pcs in a month we can have net income of 25,000 . So in a year we have 300,000. But how we do that first is they can order on us directly

"Project Making"

Project Decision Making is the process whereby the project leader and project team decide upon project strategy, tactics, and acceptable actions. For Project Stakeholders, the decisions normally concern project boundaries. The Making and Knowing Project is a research and pedagogical initiative.

It is also important for us as start-up to make this product fuctional so that the investor were evaluate our product's performance through feedbacks gathered from our potential customer, who used our product. We can also evaluate the right price for our product through our customers perspective in it or how much they value it.

This week we did continue making our project after the MVP launching or the costumer testing. And hopefully by March 15, 2019 we are able to present our final product to our investor. We encountered problems in doing our product. Same problem as before it is all about the sensitivity of the material. So now we just continue making our project for the preparation for our final pitching.

Projects can teach many valuable lessons about teams and processes over time. Those insights can then be used to create process change, run more efficient projects, and work better as a project team. Project failures can also say a lot about processes and communication when those failures are analyzed to determine where a project when wrong.

"MVP launching"

With modern businesses becoming bigger and better, competition is higher than ever before. Therefore it’s incredibly important to ensure that a company is offering top of the range products to consumers to keep up with its rivals. Product testing is becoming more beneficial.

At the initial prototyping stage we are trying to gain investment to manufacture our product in mass, product testing results can help us to achieve patents for our invention and interest investors if we can prove the superior quality and functionality of our product. Product testing can prove that household tools or appliances are safe for use, or find any defects that could potentially be unsafe before the products are available for sale.

So, this week we already launched the MVP of our product for testing. We already have the costumer whom interested with our product He is an instructor from Liceou University and his name is Ana Rochie Mapeso. He is our first costumer that test our product and after we ask his feedback for suggestions and recommendation. Then we ask them if ever we launched our fully fuctional of our product since we are presented the MVP for testing. We ask him for the price then he suggested to pay 2,000. And it was much okie because our product is only cost 1,600 so we gain 400 pesos.

If you are about to unveil your product to the world, keep in mind that the class of your products is a reflection upon the experience you are providing to your customers.

"Project Making"

The fundamentals of managing a project from start to finish require a team of individuals with different talents and skills. Those people are responsible for planning and executing the project objectives and that takes more than just labour and materials. Each project follows a Project Life Cycle. A sound project plan can mean the difference between success or failure. Each project follows a Project Life Cycle.

This week we did continue making our product. It is challenging for us because we face trials and dissapointments. Making our product is a little bit difficult because of the sensitivity of our materials which is the transmitter and reciever. But hopefully we cope up with that problem and we make our product succesfully.

We are going to launch this project next week that is why we need to our product to be done in making it. We should launch it next week so that our costumer could give us feedback about it and so that we could know how much our costumer would offer for the price of our product. So, now we continue making our product for the design and construction of our project. Because we are not yet done in designing it. We are still visualizing the components that we are going to add or remove since we are undergoing a trial and error because of its complexity.

projects do fail. When they do, it is important to learn from the process. Project management ensures that lessons are learned from project success and failure.

Designing

Design is a work process which has a user perspective and drives development based on your specific customers’ needs. Through designing it makes the product more attractive. It is also about planning and making decisions about something that is being built or created. In designing you should always consider the possibilities that could hinder your purpose in designing.

I am the designer. As a designer I did plays a key role in our company. Using elements like typography, illustration, photography and layouts, a designer always has an extremely creative mind that can absorb visual trends and deploy them in fresh and exciting ways. Our Creative and Design team know all there is to know about design roles, the leading agencies businesses where you can excel and howe to get you the very best opportunity.

This week we did make the design, it is be done through the help of my team. It is not easy for us to design our product because of the complexity of the circuits and constructions of the materials needed to make our product work. One of the problem that we encounter during the designing is the transmitter and reciever. Because we need different hertz to make our product work and distortion of the signal is a key factor. And also the design of our adaptor is very complex because there are many factors that can affect with the design of the adaptor.

Through teamwork goals will be done. We just use of creativity as an electrical engineering to use our learnings in our course field. Through this Combination of idea it will help us to make our product be successful. And also it is just a matter of how we can innovate to create things that can help the people through thier safety and lessen thier electric bill.

I"Updated"

Updating something is to Prepare for the better result. Through update we can actually do our Job because it will remind us that there is a task that we need to do. Like for us students we are busy for many things because we have lots of projects, assignments, paper works. To balance our time we need to update every single task because time is gold. So, this is week 8 where our lectric E Company are going to do an update about our product which is the monitoring device. So, we already have the milestone and supposedly based on our milestone our product will be launched at second week of Febuary but we updated that we are lacking of time and we need to move in the last week of febuary.

This week we present our Update to our instructor we presented the updated BMC and our milestone. Ater the presentation our instructor asked that when was our product will be launched?. So as we presented that our product will be launched at last week of February our instructor disagreed because its running out of time because final examination is upcoming. Then he said that we should launched our product at third week of febuary so that we can give a feedback to the user of our product. It means that we need a costumer that will buy our product so that we can have the feedback.

There was an event last week which entitled Intellectual Property Rights Lecture. And it was headed by our Innovation & Technology Support Office Engr. CLARK GOZON. And our head, Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology Engr. BRONSON G. MABULAY and it was held last Febuary 2, 2019. It is important to us Engineering Students because we are dealing with advancement and innovation of technology. Patenting your personal property can protect you. Like nobody can copy your property unless they will pay you or having your authority. Examples your codes in programming was patented they cant copy that or else they will have an Law offence. But there is a qualifications before your property will be patented.

What Ive learned in this is week is that we need to update. So that we can have some help from others to have a better idea and suggestions. Also for us to be reminded for our task that we need to do.

"The Pitching Time"

This is the moment where we would introduce our product to our investor. At first we did practice in our speech on how we interact with our investor to invest with us. So, for the first group whom introduce there product, they are well prepared with uniform and there speech was so nice, and how they catch up with the attention of the investor was very good. They speak english very well. But one thing that I realized with the comment of the investor that whenever how good is your speech, speaking english, catch up with the attention of the investor that is not the bases on why they should invest. Its all about the potential of your product. If it is a good market?. Because for us we are not good in speaking English, We are not good in getting the attention of the investor but we do our best to present our pitching well and prepared.

This week is a midterm week and a very stressful week because we need to study smarter way to passed the exams. And also this is the week where we need to study our subjects and we need to practice our pitching presentation. So in our pitching we did explained to. Them our Specific problem which is Paying High electric bill and the cause of fire which is the unplugged appliances. And we present to them our solution which is the indicator that whenever there is somebody plugged to that outlet it will turn on. That was discussed in my last blog.

The comment of our investor based on our presentation is that they ask if that was affordable, how does our product work. One of the investor commented that we are just putting the high technology backwards. Because existing now is that using wifi then they can control the unplugged appliances. But for us it is just an indicator that somehow it will be ignored if we will see it everyday because the routine is continue. And they comment that we need to innovate more like displaying in the monitor the plugged appliances. And for us we cant do such thing like that because it is difficult and we are limited procedure like we are not allow to use programming. It will consume more time to used.

The moral lesson is that we need to analyze more and think more. It is not about how good is your presentation because at the end its the potential of your product will matter. Making a product which is marketable is difficult. And also convinsing the investor to invest is also difficult because you really need an potential product that is marketable to your potential costumer.

"Approved"

In order to achieve our goal we need to face trials in life. Everyone of us experiences trials in life because we all know that trials are made to make us strong and to make things right. I would like to share the happenings in this week 7. So, at first we have a task to do in order for our proposal to be appoved and that was on the last week 6. We interview again to the middle class household but in manner that we are not selling the product rather were just introducing the product to them.

So we have interviewed seven household. We ask them if they have any experience in electrical faulty. We also ask if they experience that they leave the house without unplugging the ang appliances. Among 7 household many had the same answer that they experience living there houses without unplugging the appliances. And after we introduced our solution. So, our solution was what if we will make a monitoring device that will indicate all the unplugged appliances. All you need to do is to look in the monitor. Many of them aggree and give the feedback that it was a good idea. Others had a suggestion that our monitor must be the same color to our adaptor in order to identify easily.

So, after all the interview we came back again to fulfill our validation. So, at this time after showing all the evidence to our instructor then officially our project was being approved. And we are qualified to our pitching and we need to do our milestone and pitch dick. And also we are required to passed our BMC. Milestone will help us to guide our business time schedule. And we are given 5 minutes talk to introduce our product through pitch dick.

The moral lesson for this week is that never stop with your goal. Even though you experience many rejection in life just believe and dont lose hope. Maybe things that you want means something someday. Like for us we dont lose hope and finally we did get our goal.

"Patience"

It was a Christmas break and all of us faces in excitement and hope. I can say that because all of us was so excited to celebrate christmas with our family and also we are hoping that our project will approve before the year 2018 will end. We come up with the idea for our proposal through my experience in the boarding house. During that day we my friends in the boarding house plan to eat a dinner together and decided to buy a vian. So we combine our money but suddenly our money is not enough to buy some softdrinks. And one of my friends decided that he will broke his piggy bank(alkansya) in order to buy some softdrinks. And through that I got an idea in order for them not to broke thier piggy bank(alkansya) easily. I suggested this happening to my groupmate and they agree to pursue it.

So we conducted a survey in order for us to conclude that this was really a problem. Then we conducted an interview. Many of them have the same answer that they put money in their piggy bank(alkansya) if they have an excess to thier expenses. So with that problem we did conclude thier problem is they are not motivated to save money. So our solution to that problem is that we will create an "motivating Bank". The functionality of this technology is that if ever someone will put a coin in the motivating bank it will light and thier is a motivating qoutes will appear. So we did propose this project and the comment of our instructor is that the problem that we propose is not really a problem because as of now we are having a bank. Like BDO, Union bank much better than our proposal also in the bank the money is safe. He did also told us that in saving money it must be that money minus savings over expenses. So our project is rejected.

After christmass break we conduct a metting again and we give idea for whats our next proposal. So now it was our fifth attemp to propose a project and we come up the idea about how to be aware in electrical faulty that can cause fire. So we conducted a survey to the houses that our perspective problem was really a problem for them. And as their feedback these problem with electrical faulty was there common problem because of the unplugged appliances that can cause fire. So with that we conclude that the problems Unplluged appliances that can cause fire. So our solution is that we will create an indicator like if ever someone will plug in the outlet the indicator will light. It is for safety because you will know that there is an appliances is being plug with that outlet. It is useful also like if you will take a vacation you dont need to check the outlet one by one because you already have the indicator. So after proposing this project we got patially approved because we on our reseaech we will need our specific costumer. And as of now we did continue researching for our specific costumer.

The moral lesson for this week is that we just be patient and work for it. Even though how many times you fail just continue your goal and maybe someday you will get what you really want.

"Rejected Proposal"

This is week 5 where we have proposed the Boarding House Reservation App. Before we did the proposal of course we already conduct a survey as we move backward before the proposal. We conducted a survey to the boarders and mostly of our respondent that we have interviewed are students in UST'P. So basically base on our survey we come up with there proplem based on the result on the survey that It is really difficult to Find a Boarding House. So, myself can also relate to there comments beacause myself is also a boarders so I also know how difficult it is to find a boarding House.

So, It was the day that we presented our Proposal. In our report proposal is that our specific costumer is the students whom is not a residing citizen and because of that they have to board. So, in short a boarders especially student. Now, You might thingking how can we help to those boarders especially incomming college, Like they dond know where to go first to find a boarding house to stayed. So, We will create an application where the landlords or the owner of the boarding house will posted on their vaccant room including the picture of the room the name of the app is "Boarding reservation app.

After the landlord or the owner of the boarding house posted the picture of the room. They will put their number so that the boarders can call them and ask that if there is a vaccant room. And through that we can help them to find an easy way to find a boarding house and also it is a benefit to both landlords and boarders, that was the main concept. After our report proposal, now, it was the turn of our instructor to his comments.

First, he commented that it was more on programming. And basically our concept is that we are the third one to propose this project. And ask us that can we do program? And said to us that: Do you think programming is easy. As a backgroud we already taken a subject of programming. We are able to read a codes. And the most highlight is that he said, Our instructor said that as an electrical Engineering student he doubt that we can make this project. He might beleive that CoE will do this project because CoE have taken many programming. So, in our part it was a little embarassed because for us is just like we really dont know how to program. Meaning our programming subjects are useless because at the end of the day it was just useless because we are an electrical student. I know the point our instructor that he did discourage us to pursue our proposal that we might did not finish the program at the given time for us to finish this program. He is just concerned for us but the approach is really matter. On how he delivered the message in discouraging us. But we all know that he is on the good intention to help us.

"The Proposal"

This is my 4th blog which I entitled "The proposal". In my last blog which we are conducting a survey to give solution based on the specific problem of our respondent. In this week we are task to propose the data collected based on the problems of our respondent. And to be able to propose our prototype solution. The time has come that we were prosposing it but unfortunately we are running out of time so our intructor decided to pick the best proposal among the three proposal.

So, It was our turn to defend project proposal. We did choose the Flies Killer which is the main problem of the vendor. Flies is there common problem. And we did propose to our instructor to make a flies killer. Our project is already exist but our edge is that we will make a better design and more attractive to the flies. But our instructor comments is that, why we need to sell a product that have been already exist? And how can we so sure that they will buy our product?. Did we put a question in ou survey that if we will make that product does can they be our costumer?

Those are the question that really matters in having a costumer. Dont sell to the costumer that is the tips that our instructor give to us. And say to us that we need to validate our ideas or change a new proposal that we can do really sell to the market and can have more customer. I think most of our classmates they need to validate or change thier ideas also that really give the solution based on their specific problems that they have collected based on thier survey. They need to create product that really attract thier costumer to buy their product.

This week also we did an activity which we will make a Costumer Development process. It is like a visual aid that studied like who are our costumer, for whom is our product, how much revenue or profit that we can get if we pursue to make this product. This activity study the timeline of our product.

In our Activity we Entitled our product as "Boarding House Reservation App". It is an application that you can access the vaccant boarding house through this app. I can also relate in this idea because I am one of the temporarily residing, so with this application i can easy to access where to find an vaccant Boarding house. Everyone can download in the appstore. Our profit in this product is just the ads that we make or an advertisement through facebook, Youtube, Instagram, and any social media that we can make create advertisement. We can also signage our application product so that many people would know.

What is your problem ?

People have thier individual problems. Now my question is that "what is your problem"?. This is week 3 where we will do a survey to find out your specific problem. In this week we did a meeting. Based on our meeting, we did assign the position that ourself capable on the position given. I was assign as a designer, so I must do my job well as a designer to make our company Succesfull.

We have three proposal project. And our proposal project is based on the survey problems. Which the scope of our survey are 1.) The people selling Meat and fish at the mercado,

2.)The consumer/ the people

3.) Boarders problem

Proposal 1: Based on our survey Flies is thier common problem. And our solution is that will make a prototype that whenever the flies go in that area the flies will die. It make sense because flies will surely die and it makes lesser the population of the flies. And in our prototype we will put a light that will attract the flies to go in that area. And because of that consumer might choose to buy in their area because it is clean.

Proposal 2: In our proposal 2 we are dealing to those person whom being rob by a thief especially in cogon market and it is based on our survey. And I suggested in our group to.make a bag that if someone open without permission, the bag will alarm and the strip lights will be turn on. The design is that we will put the strip lights in the legs of the bag. It is usefull especially during nightime because whenever the thief will open the bag the people will be alarm and the thief will probably caught. This innovation may actually be a good business because many people will actually wearing a bag and they put thier especial things there. Also it is affordable because the components of the connection is also affordable like we are just using a transistor, battery, wire, buzzer.

Proposal 3: In our proposal three is that we are concerning in the boarders being rob. Mostly of the boarders are student and they are not familiar with the kind of place they have board. Many have been rob because sad to say but the thief now is a genius they can actually open a Padlock. So our solution is that we will make a doorlock which is being operated through cellphone bluetooth. The lock is inside the room and whenever you leave or go in your room, you just only connect to bluetooth with that door, then you can open or close the door. But it is quite expensive because the components are also expensive, Like arduino, bluetooth module, and etc.

So as of this week we are just preparing the proposal through survey and we have made the solution of it.

"What's the plan? "

Planning is the best way to overcome cramming in terms of making project, assignment, doing prototype. In my second blog I would like to share the happenings in week 2. Last time in my first blog it was said there that we are trying to plan an application but that was not the final plan of our project because we did concern about the difficulties in making a codes. This time our Group conducted a meeting for the purpose of our project plan again. And everyone Give thier individual opinion.

Now we have decided to conduct a survey. To be able to get information about the problems that most needed to have the solution. Through the result of our survey we can conclude the problems and with that specific problem we will do whats the best solution to do to overcome that specific problem.

We did not create the question yet, It needs time to create a question and survey will be implemented this comming week3. which is the plan that we will propose the project at week 3, So before the proposal of project we did move backwards to get the result already base on our survey result. The mean highlights for this week is that we have decided to conduct a survey for the proposal of our project.

As an Electrical Engineering Student we would like to help to overcome problems base on the result of the survey. We assume that the question will be through the solution of technology because making solutions through technology is our edge to solve the specific problem.

My First Blogg

Hello guys, Im Gabriel Manco, Just call me Gab2 for short. Im already 19 years old. This is my first blogg anyways and also this is my first time to conquer my fear and being a shy type. I am an Electrical Engineering Student studied at University of Science and Technology of Souther Philippines and I am already a 4th year student. As of now I am taking a Subject witch is a technopreneurship witch is very interesting for me because it can enhance my confidence and it conquer my fear. First Activity in this subject is that we will create a rejection therapy with means that the persons that Im am talking with must reject my proposation. My partner name Richard louie Ypil He is the one who shooted the video for me for me.

My First Attempt is that I asked a free Taste of popcorn beside the CINEMA, I thought I would be rejected but They give me a free taste of Popcorn, So mission failed. My Second attempt is that I went to the Takuyake Franchise to ask a free taste again but They laughed at me and said that there is no free taste in takuyake. I did another attemp because I am not satified of that rejection because It only have a short conversation between me and the Seller. My third attempt is that i will take a picture with the two girls walking and it is succesfull they rejected me. My last attemp is that i did go to the " UNLIMITED FUN & PLAY" located at limketkai mall, which it has many balls and ballons the where kids were playing and i asked the authorized person that i will get 3 balls and she rejected me, I asked again 2 balls only and she rejected me again, and I ask again for only 1 ball and he rejected me again. So I left and said "okay." lastly i said to them that it was just a Rejection Theraphy.

Groups are made to do teamwork, Now this time our instructor want us to create a project that is " informative application". Based on the personality test my attitude is percieving, Sensing, thinking. And i can say that it might be true. Because of that attitude it leads me to creativity. We have a groupmate name Reymark Paculanan whom the inspirer to our Group. Inspiring someone can motivate to do the job very well. We have also a groupmate that is an idealist person which sees the best for everyone. And we have a groupmate which is a duty fulfiller, which good in fulfilling the missing piece. Our Group was assemble because we are already friends before.

We have discussed of what should our project be and there is a suggestion that we will create an application, But I said that creating a code is not simple. It really takes time, it might be cheaper but it is not easy. As of now we continue researching our project because we did not decided it yet.
