Cosmic clowns pt 3: Mercury

When doing research on anything associated with the planets such as colors, flowers, or even animals I was surprised at how many times snakes came up. I chose the Mercury clown to have the biggest representation of it because of the God Mercury who's counterpart is Hermes; the messenger God. Since he carries a caduceus; a magical staff wielded by multiple gods, that could put human into a deep sleep. I also wanted to play with the concept of a dancer and combine it with the infamous snake dancing that is seen in many places around the world. Her hair went through so many renditions! I don't wanna talk about it!! But I ended up falling in love with these fun braids that gave me snake vibes 😁😁

Cosmic clowns pt 2: The moon clown

This clown in particular went through a roller coaster of designs. The skirt wasn't what I wanted, the sleeves, the boots, nothing! I almost put her in a poncho! But I finally came to something I liked! The one thing I was absolutely sure was making it a rabbit themed clown. In many east Asian cultures the moon is associated with rabbits. In Japanese and Korean lore there is a story about a pair of rabbitsvliving on the moon and making rice cakes. So it was a no brainer that this clown had to represent this lore.

I'm really excited to really come back to this series I started some months ago. I became really slow at making art for months due to the mental strain of my new job. I would just get home and knock out! Recently I finally got back into the flow of things DETERMINED to make this series happen!

🎃Challenging myself while bringing back an old concept. Three years ago, I did these adorable jack-o-lantern kids around October, but I did them in marker. I love it! But since I've been playing with gouache so much, I wanted to up the challenge even more by painting an illustrated character. It's not for the weak of heart for sure, plus I don't have a ✨️steady painters hand✨️ I'm shakey handed... which makes it hard. I really was almost going to give up. Halfway in, and I felt so disheartened with how it was coming out. But I persisted. Luckily, with a little digital work, I was able to clean up my messes and bring a bit of the color quality I wish I could get. I am now okay with the result, and I hope I can get better with some time and practice.

This was the viral question back in April and May that rocked the internet. While the original was never actaully a question; just a tik toker saying a solid statement being he knew exactly what women would pick, the street interviews got the ball rolling none the less.

It was rare for me to have money on me, so I decided to get a snack before swim practice in HS. I made my way to the vending machine that actually worked in the cafeteria. A friend of mine bumped into me. After school programs were wrapping up so the halls had some students here and there. My friend joined me on my snack journey. Once we started heading back, a friend of his joined us. I sort of knew him. They chatted and Ibkaughed along with one of their funny stories. But then another friend of theirs joins in. This one I don't know...and then another. I just kept my gaze forward. Now it was 4 HS boys and me and some very empty school halls. While I wasn't uncomfortable, it was overbearing, so I 6 to take the bridge that connects the main building to the sports center. It was empty as well. I went in...they followed. One of them got in front of me with a big smile and asked a question related to their conversation. I answered...they laughed. But why did they start to circle me? Why were they hovering over me? Why doesn't my friend see my scared face? "HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" My english teacher shoved herself into the circle, takes my hand, and escorts me to the gym where my swim team is. At the moment, I was too innocent to understand why I was scared. Maybe it was instinct before I could comprehend what ultimatly could have happened if it weren't for my English teacher. Now that I'm older, the whole thing sends shivers down my spine. So yeah...the bear

Full body movements sketches for Alicia. It was really fun to figure how how to move a poofy skirt around on the body of a little girl. While playing with the movements I also wanted to take the chance and work on some fun expressions to compliment the scene as a whole. I think my favorite one has got to be number 9. She looks so desperate and in a panic. Is she chasing something or is she about to fall? Who knows. She’s just here to have a good fun time.

So I’m, going to be WAY more active on my tumblr when it comes to my art because insta is LITERALLY HELL FOR FOR ARTISTS at the moment. Seems like tumblr is an….alright place as long as a watermark my art so maybe I’ll camp out here.
