Hey question Do you draw yourself as human too? Not like the fan Sonas, just you?

I saw your old meet the artist and thought I'd ask since I haven't seen you draw yourself like that since then

I had to think about this question

I will be honest, I don't like my face or my body particularly much Partially because of disphoria but partially also because well I'm faceblind I have always have been a little faceblind But after an accident it escalated to a point I wouldn't recognize my own mother if you showed me a picture of just her face So drawing myself as ... ME... is just not appealing at all Nothing I draw ever really feels like ME but since you sent this ask I was kinda lost in thought and decided to try and draw something that felt like me As best as I could Here's how that turned out

That's as close as it'll go My hair is a messy mix of browns and greys My eyes are a mix of green, blue and grey And I don't have the best body Plus I just didn't know how to draw my face right so this is what you get

I'm pretty happy with this all things considered so I hope this is enough to satisfy your curiosity

For the person that asked about traditional art This picture was made largely with Nassau Fine Art supplies Both paper and alcohol markers used here are Nassau Fine Art supplies with the only non Nassau thing being used being the fineliners As you can see you can make art even with less expensive supplies

You do traditional art too, right? Any tips for someone who's never done it before but wants to get into it? I know I'll suck at it but it's better than AI

(and if you could recommend a brand that's cheap that'd be nice)

Yeah I do and sure I can share some tips (also really good stance to have on AI)

Tip 1: Keep two kinds of sketchbooks One that is stricktly for stupid doodles of any kind A booklet that you only use for ballpoint doodles that are messy and unfinished And one for more finished art where you use pencil first and allow yourself to erase parts as well KEEP IN MIND Those are still just sketchbooks

Tip 2: To make completely finished pieces I would advice getting one block of good paper that can be torn out (best for absolute beginners would be mixed media paper so you can figure out what you like best) That way you can scan them in if you want to keep them digitally too (trust me it makes the whole thing so much easier)

Tip 3: Don't be too ridgid about what art supplies you want to get into Try out as many different things as you can and try to keep an open mind There is no right or wrong way to find your medium and if you use watercolors together with acrylic markers and gel pens then that is fine Just have fun with it and that's usually enough

Tip 4: Don't compare your art or your progress to others You can look at other peoples art, that's encouraged tbh, but don't let their progress or their style get you down You just doing art is more than enough

Tip 5: STOP DRAWING IF YOUR HAND HURTS! do some excercises to loosen your wrists and fingers, take a moment to get a drink, cool or warm your hand and do not start drawing again for at least a few hours! Nobody needs an inflamed carpal tunnel!

as for cheap art supplies I am a fan of Nassau Fine Art They make almost anything tbh and while it's nowhere near professional quality, for a beginner it's definitely enough I really like their mixed media paper and their alcohol markers are pretty good too for how cheap they are Their watercolors are chalky but nicely pigmented and you can get a good few art supplies from them for relatively little money

Online I'd go for either Ohuhu, Arrtx, Himi or Arteza Ohuhu for paper and their alcohol markers Arrtx for their acrylic markers, gouache and sketchbooks Himi makes good gouache and watercolors as well as brush-sets Arteza for almost anything else, they make a lot of different things and so far I've loved almost all of their products (especially their mechanical pencils are a treat to work with)

Okay so uh I am a bit... cautious when it comes to sharing women I like because I've encountered issues when talking about that before Buuut since you asked so nicely Imma just go for it

My first fictional crushes were... weird I guess the first fictional woman that caught my attention was

Edna Mode Not sure why she caught my eye but to this day I absolutely adore everything about her I was pretty young when I had that crush and it has persisted to this day so uh I guess she's one of my oldest crushes

A more recent crush would be

Yellow Pearl Why yellow Pearl and not just Pearl Honestly? No clue I know yellow is my favorite color so that might have something to do with it but I just adore this character even tho we see very little of her in the show Made a character for SU just so I could doodle them together(never posted any of that tho)

Now for a last crush that's also more recent

Penumbra From Villainous Her elegance, her poise, her goals, her drive, her goofy side, her VA!!!! (the spanish one) I adore everything about this woman so damn much Not just the amazing design and the way her "hair" flows when she moves (or even when she doesn't) She's just a really really good character imo and I wish we'd get to see more of her (she had an insta but I am not sure if that still exists since I do not use Instagram)

Moondancer joins the AU redesign club

I really liked Moondancer in the show Yeah she was a bit over the top but seeing how the show had limitations it still handled her well and I adore her colors and messy mane

this Moonie is similar to the one we know from the show just with the difference that she got to stay in closer contact with Twilight and got to meet the Queens (yes they are Queens in my AU) and fell in love with Luna (ship art to come... maybe)

She likes daydreaming and looking for good spots to take pictures after it rains

after getting the ship ask for mlp I had the sudden urge to make some redesigns for some of the characters as they would appear in my AU and I thought I should start with Luna since I had the clearest idea designwise for her

the crown on her head is held up by magic and her mane feels like cool fabric when it touches you She also always smells like Jasmin and Petrichor

What's the weirdest or most niche ship you got for MLP?

Your pony art is so cute and I see you reblog rare-pairs on your main blog a lot so I just wanna know what your most out there ship is.

Getting this ask right after reblogging a rare-pair ship on my main is something XD

My most out there MLP ship hmmmmh~ I know you probs didn't mean OC ships but Imma give you both an OC ship and a cannon character ship that could be seen as weird or as a rare-pair

For the OC ship we got my OC Oodie and the Slenderpony you see for like 5 seconds in the background of one episode

For cannon ship I do not have a picture drawn for those two but I ship Moondancer and Luna It started because of a Joke I made with friends a while back that I then thought too much about (as a lot of rare-pairs do) I did a whole backstory about how they met and how they interact n all that and it's become one of my favorite ships now XD

Oh also Queen Chrysalis (a reformed Queen from my AU) and Derpy I swear this ship makes sense if you know about my AU XD

but uh yeah Hope those are sufficiently weird for you If interest does exist I might doodle some chibi stuff with those rare-pairs

Why does your sona have black arms/hands? Does that mean something or is it just a thing you did on a whim?

oh that It started off as an inside joke about me being cursed but nowadays it represents my chronic pain issues and general body dissatisfaction.

In universe it's still a curse my sona has to deal with and if they get overwhelmed more and more of their furr turns black-ish

the blackness moves too Slowly, like thick molasses or the bubbles in a lava lamp

I do have a ref sheet somewhere that describes what it looks like if she gets taken over by the blackness but I doubt I could find that rn

Recently doodled some old OCs and thought I should give Cappa their own actuall reference/introduction sheet (after they took up an entire page of my sketchbook)

They are one of my oldest OCs (A mix between a manecoon cat and a fox furry) and have crazy lore and I honestly missed drawing them so this was real fun

Heya! This is going to seem like a strange hello, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm Rainbows4367.

It may not have meant much to you at the time, but it's literally been like 10 years and I felt compelled to let you know that the fanart you did of my original character, then named Laura-Li, really did leave an impression on me in a way I haven't gotten to experience since. I don't know what it was like from your end, but every time I think about that character- and how worthless all of my stories feel to try and tell- I remember that you made that art and it makes me feel a little hopeful.
