The next rune in the Eldar Futhark is Gebo. Literally: “Gift” – Also "Fair Exchange" The exchange of gifts, whether physical or otherwise, is a highly meaningful act, as is the idea of trade. In the Hávamál a stanza can be quoted Be a friend to your friend, and repay each gift with a gift. Repay laughter with laughter, repay treachery with treachery. Gebo is the rune of generosity and giving. Our ancestors often gave gifts in exchange for partnerships, so Gebo is also the rune of beneficial partnerships. Gebo represents a gift for a gift–whether the gifts are aid, work, or an actual gift.
